Pet Peeves

Most of my pet peeves take place in public, so here goes! lol

I think I'll stop here...
I don't drive (for personal reasons), but whenever I go to the store someone has to stop to let the whole family out. This takes FOREVER, and the last time that happened the traffic was backed up a mile. Find a parking spot and then take your time!

Aisle blockers
It never fails, every time I go down an aisle someone has their cart in the middle of the aisle all crocked n' stuff. Errg! I've also seen where people will leave their cart untended with all their stuff in it. Meanwhile their cart is sorta in the way.

Unattended kids
Need I say more? I almost got bashed by cart once because some girl was swinging it around in circles. hmm

Yours?

Re: Pet Peeves

I'll list a few that I can think of here and maybe add some more later.

Chatspeak
There's no good excuse for not typing out whole words when all computers and almost all cell phones have full keyboards. It makes you look unintelligent and makes anyone reading your posts have to take twice as long to decipher what you're trying to say. Acronyms like "lol" don't annoy me as long as they're well-known enough that everyone's going to know what they mean.

Rude people at the arcade
I go to an arcade to play DDR at least a few times a month, and there are always people there who don't know how to treat other people or the machines. You would think people would learn in kindergarten that they're supposed to take turns, but there's always at least one group of teenagers or adults and small children who play multiple games in a row without even looking behind them to see if anyone is waiting. Then there are the people who think they have to stomp-as-hard-as-they-possibly-can, which I guess is less of a pet peeve and more of a concern that the poor machine isn't going to last much longer if it keeps up.

Any kind of reckless driving
If you want to throw your own life away, that's one thing, but if you're doing something stupid while you're driving you're risking a lot more than just your own life. Not acceptable at all.

I couldn't agree more with this! Why on earth does a child need a phone for? I got my first phone when I was 14, but I only used it a handful of times before I lost interest in it. When I turned 18 I got a cellphone since I was out more often. Now I have a smartphone.

- anything the media does
- "that's just how life is"
- people doing things without thinking of others (i know this is general but)
- car alarms
- when people disagree with me (sometimes)
- when i find a band with a cool name or cool artwork and then they suck or have a message i don't like (any metalheads here will probably be able to relate)

about cellphones, i got my first one when i was... 15 or 16, and the only reason i have a new one is because the old one broke. the only reason i had it was because my mom had been dating a guy for awhile and he had a phone on our plan, and when things didn't work out mom gave me his spot on the cellphone plan. plus since i go for walks alone it helps to have that.

Schools that provide laptops/iPads to students using our tax money
The thought of a group of middle-aged school board members sitting around a table, drinking coffee, and discussing how they can "help the millennial generation succeed in the modern world" or some *bleep* like that annoys me to no end. Newsflash: kids already know how to use computers without being given an expensive, breakable distraction that the school is just going to have to replace in a few years. No one needs a laptop or a tablet to study; it's just a huge waste of money. Ever noticed how they're always Apple products, too, the technology luxury brand? Again, not necessary and an even bigger waste of money. But more and more public schools are apparently doing this, including my old high school.

Sort of renders the point of attending a public school useless if you ask me.

Text Tutorials on YouTube
I hate whenever I look up tutorials on YouTube and the video I click on ends up being a person typing on Notepad. Sure, not everyone owns a mic, but it defeats the purpose of YouTube. YouTube is a video site, not a text-based site. I go on there to watch videos, not read...

One of my pet peeves is that this is one of my pet peeves. You know what I mean? As in, I wish wouldn't get annoyed over people with different opinions on trivial things like whether something I like is good. Exception here being when I think their beliefs are morally wrong rather than just an alternative opinion to my own.

Re: Pet Peeves

I agree with The Black Shadow on unattended kids, that's a pet peeve of mine as well, another pet peeve of mine is nagging people, people that don't use manners, people that are rude and obnoxious, awful drivers, people that don't mind their own business and my biggest pet peeve would be people that abuse or don't care for their animals and all around animal abuse.

I have changed my username from Justin Long Fanatic to EricChristianOlsenFanatic, so Justin Long Fanatic is my old name on this site, and EricChristianOlsenFanatic is my new one.

Might just be us up here in the mountains of California, but we have a Digital Literacy class in our grade because some students are incredibly stupid when it comes to computers. Obviously, I'm not, I have an A+ in the class, but some kids have F's, and hate the class, whereas I love the class because it's so easy. This one girl I sit next to (who doesn't show up to class half the time) has no idea what she's doing when she does show up, and is always looking at my screen, making me uneasy. Although, probably most of the people here know how to use a computer, it's likely just my class. I got that class. You know what I mean.

Re: Pet Peeves

I was never very good at computer class, despite being good with computers. lol  Anyways, your post reminded me of a girl that I had to sit next to in computer class. She didn't look at my screen, she was just annoying. She once had to ask how to copy and paste... I know the computers were iMacs, but it isn't rocket science either. There was also a time where she ran the computer mouse over top of my hand.

Re: Pet Peeves

Just my kind of thread. Heheh.

General:

Not Much
When I ask someone what's up or what they're up to, and they reply with "Not much." Way to be a conversation stopper.

I'm Not Drunk But I Drive Like I Am Because...
Self explanatory. People who talk on their phone while driving. People who rush to work and drive like NASCAR. People who are just dickhead drivers in general.

War Thunder:

Players That Drag the Team Down
I'm talking about those guys who mess around or commit suicide just to make themself laugh, while dragging the team down and putting the team at a disadvantage. I have a friend who crashes into the ground for fun or shoots teammates for fun, and we only have one life in that match. So we have to drag ourselves through a whole game (30 to 40 minutes sometimes) with one or two less players than before.

The Lawnmowers
People who don't climb. Or they fly straight to the enemy fighters at the start of the game. They get killed within minutes and are a waste of a player. Even worse, heavy bombers that dive to ground level to lawnmow ground targets.

Teamkillers
If only I can punch people in the face through TCP/IP...

Russian speakers
If you're going to trash talk about Americans, say it to my face in my language. Also, I'm sick of those stupid smileys or whatever they are: "))))))))))))"

Re: Pet Peeves

Charter is the worst! They send us their crap all the time asking us to sign up for TV and phone service. They used to call us every other day about the same thing until we sternly told one of them to remove us from their list. One time we told we weren't interested and they replied with "Oh, okay, when do you want us to come set it up?" >_<

Paranoia wrote:

Not sure how I didn't see this before, but this. There's really nothing more annoying than entitled customers. I could go on and on about times I've seen this, but suffice to say that if you honestly think you're "always right" because you're a customer, you're probably a spoiled and selfish person who's going to be ruining some poor employee's day. I can't believe the stupid things grown adults will choose to pick fights over sometimes.

(This is mostly about retail and fast food and obviously doesn't apply if you hire someone to make something for you and have specific preferences about how you want it to be done. Then I will treat you like you are absolutely right about every detail, even if it looks completely awful to me. tongue)

Re: Pet Peeves

Dude, we get *bleep* in the mail from Charter all the time too. Me and my roommate just pay for internet, and we get something in the mail almost every week about their TV and phone services. It's such a waste of time, energy, and resources. Who actually sees a pamphlet in the mail and says to themselves: "Hey, I should spend MORE money a month on services that I chose upfront not too!"  I mean, most of the mail we get is junk anyway

Re: Pet Peeves

I found the argument, and compiled most of it into this picture. The story behind it is that I posted a comment on this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqKFtzkMW2s
on how the American version had less censorship than the Japanese one, and how usually it's the other way around. Then, this happened. Spoiler for language.
