Now, This Question Has Been Going Around For A While... Can We Answer it?

Now I'm Not One Sided I've Also Got An Idea How It Can Be a prequel too...
But i havn't made the vid yet... But believe me, its pretty wacky and complicated...
But I Dont Know About Hunter....

I think it is yet to be decided at Krome.
However, I think that if they are connected TLoS comes after the others. (But I do not think they are)

I Was Actually Thinking that last night but the prequel idea makes more sence i can explain why but it would be too complicated

I Think it's a reboot, mainly bacause it's a whole other setting. They trully start at the beginning, unlike the old games, where you had no knowledge whatsoever about Spyro's birth and past.

I have been doing some revamps on old cartoons in the Danish Animation Academy, where I helped out a couple of friends who were studying to become 2D Animation Instuctors, and we actually tried the same concept, as Krome did with Spyro.

We revamped the main character, the world, and everything about thier pesonality (wich was the assignment).
We had our doubts as to wether we could use some of the other, old characters, but my friend convinced me that we could, because in animation, you have to be able to seperate the character from it's surrowndings and slap it in a whole other setting, it still has to look like it was just meant to be there.

This just means that eventhough the old characters are used in both the old and the new games, it doesn't neccecerally mean, that there is a link between the to game series.

Alright heres my idea of a prequel, its not a video but anyway... It Is set After The Third Installment to TLOS just after defeating DM...spyro & sparx (and whoever was there fighting the darkmaster) have flew back from the temple
Cynder:Spyro!!
(Cynder flies up into spyro's arms[PS: Just for you my spyroxcynder friends])
Ignitus: Hunter, Spyro, Thankyou for defeating the darkmaster, now us dragons never need to flea and hide anymore...
Sparx: You Always Forget Me
Spyro: How Could we? (says spyro sarcasticly)
(In This Time, Across all of the dragon worlds in the realm come out for a big celebration, praising the purple dragon who saved them all, late at night, spyro, Cynder, Hunter and Sparx go to sleep in the temple)
Ignitus Whispers: Wake Up!
(all wake up but not startledly)
Cynder: What do you want ignitis?
Ignitus ignoring all: I have a very special task for you... all
(They All get up and start walking)
Ignitis:Spyro, Sparx.... There IS A Dragon Realm Far From Here Which We Have Never Heard From... THey Never Send maydays and they never send eggs for us to care for... we fear that this dragon realm might be... in trouble. (of cource, he was wrong the "original trilogy Dragon Realm" (the one hes sending Spyro & sparx to) wasn't "in Trouble" incase you count nasty gnorc or if there is a prequel to gnasty gnorc's thing".)
Spyro: Do you want me to go in their and check it out?
Ignitis: I'm Afraid It Wont be that..... easy
Sparx: Are you saying that we have to wear burgular suits or anything cause i'm right ahead of you (puts on burgular suit)
Ignitis:No, Something... much more...
Ignitis: Im not sure if i can do this!
Spyro:WHAT?
Ignitis: YOU NEED TO BE REBORN!
Sparx: What, both of us?
Ignitis: Yes
Cynder: But why?
Ignitis: We Dont know who these dragons are or the people who took over, they might find you and interigate you until you tell them where we are
Spyro: I Will never tell anyone where i was
Ignitis: They Might Cast Magic To Make you tell the truth (obviously no truth sirum), or cast magic spells to get the magic out of you.
Spyro: But...
Ignitis: Even If they are not dangerous they will need a protector like you, but not the dragon you are now, you have gone through too much pain and suffering... there is too much "darkness" in your heart.
Sparx: Why Me?
Ignitis:Sparx, You are nothing without spyro, same goes for you, spyro And...
Cynder: It would be good without your annoying face.. even though i like you... But Ignitis, who will protect us?
Ignitis: Now, That The Darkmaster has gone im sure we have nothing to worry about...
Hunter: Ok, What about me?
Ignitis: Oh Hunter, Well, you'll be a valuable source around here, I'll be glad if you would like to stay
Hunter: No, i must go back and see my family first....
(pause)
Hunter:... Then i'll come back
Ignitis: Speaking of you family, funny how you named your son hunter aswell
Hunter: Its a Shame, hes not anything like me
Spyro: Do you think that i will ever see you all again
Ignitis: THe propheses says you will, but in time
Ignitis: Quickly, we have no time to waist we have to start the reborn stage.
(Ignitis sends down the dragon statue thing and starts to cast a spell over sparx and spyro in the middle)
(before anything starts, cynder runs into the middle)
Cynder: I Love you spyro (spyro and Cynder Kiss)
Cynder: You were a... uhhhh... good friend sparx (small kiss)
Hunter from across room: I'll miss you boys
(Spyro and sparx salute)
(Suddnely Ignitis chants and powers up until a Giant ZEEEEEAAAAP noise is heard)
(alot of smoke appears and takes a while to fade away)
(In Spyro and sparx's place we see A Small grub and a light red egg)
Cynder: Why Is Spyro's egg... Red?
Ignitis:In The Reborn process....
Cynder: What?
Ignitis: Many things change...
(pause)
Ignitis: your looks, your voice, your personality, your memories are zapped, you'll be lucky if your the same color
Cynder: IGNITIS!!! You never told me this
(Cynder runs out crying)
Ignitis to hunter: She'll be ok
(cuts To Ignitis, hunter and three theives)
Ignitis: Take these two eggs to the Dragon Realms In Blah Blah
Theives:Ok, sure
Ignitis: Dont stop and go in, walk past, make alot of noise, make it look like you are stealing them
Theives: How much you payng us
(Ignits pulls open a chest full of those crystal things)
Hunter to ignitis: Why would they want them?, the magic only affects dragons
Ignitis to hunter:Some Dragon realms dragons arn't effected by it either, so they use it for currency, i set spyro so that the gems wont effect his magic.
( THey do the trade And The Theives walk through a portal)
Ignitis: God speed, Spyro, God Speed.

(Just like Ignitis said, the theives ran down to the dragon realms and they were caught by the dragons, though Unplanned, the dragons knew it wasn't theres, but luckiluy they kept it anyway.)
(Sparx Told spyro what it was like in the outside world, though he couldn't remember anything from his prev life, spyro listened)
(suddenly some dragons found peices of paper stuck onto sparx's body and spyro's egg saying there names, it was obviously written by cynder)
( The eggs hatched they looked much different, sounded different and had different personalities, though spyro was still purple and sparx was still gold but he had learnt an ability of cheating death by changing color... spyro rescued sparx from a bird and they were friends ever since.... They then realised they were more like these dragon families then before, the rules were different, purple dragons weren't born every ten generations but many were born, and dragonflies like sparx changing color were everywhere)
(Though, small dragons like spyro were no where but that was only because as soon as dragonsd are born, they go with there mothers to faeryland to "dragon colledge".. spyro had no mother so he cpuldn't go, sparx didn't want to leave spyro and the elders decided that sparx can be his dragonfly [the dragon elders laughed at the co-incidence] and they just liked seeing a baby dragon around... but this baby dragon would help them more then just entertaining them...)
(back at the temple, hunter had returned from saying goodbye to his family, he had become a permanent resudent at the dragon realms and told his son hunter to bring home the bacon)
(Cynder was still struggling but she was surely getting over it)

Krome calls it a reboot, but I don't think that they even know.

I am sure it will be a reboot. If its a prequal, it will just ruin the story up XD!!
