You failed to mention the hyperactivity of one of the cousins...

That's gotta be miserable, feeling sick on such an important day. Did you guys
bring her anything like a drink or soup or anything?

Thanks guys, she would appreciate it. smile She was at least well enough that she could eat some of the Thanksgiving dinner we brought her.

And yeah, one of my cousins is very hyperactive. I gave him a marshmallow and he smeared it all over his face....

Re: General Discussion 5

i've made two new friends recently, neither of whom are members of this site, as far as i know.

i really don't meet new people all that often, and social interaction in general, especially with new people, makes me kind of hesitant (social anxiety?), but i'm glad i met the new people i did. they seem friendly.

the funny thing is, this is progress by my standards. i can't remember the last time *i* started a friendship (as opposed to the other person) until a few days ago. a good few years, at least.

He was in the Fast and Furious films, I saw one of them and I must admit it was a fun cheesy pop corn flick tongue

I saw Fast and the Furious 6 and to be honest, it was pretty cheesy, but still it's sad he died. R.I.P.

Re: General Discussion 5

I've seen pretty much all of them. Its a real shame what happened to Paul.

Fun fact: My dad worked security for the Fast and Furious 2 when they were filming in Miami. I think he met one of the actors

Interviews for universities? I guess I'm too used to simply signing up, paying, and going.

Not in Oxford. they need to make sure you're not from the North.

It all depends on the subject and university, but I don't think I've ever heard a university application process be that simple. A lot of universities judge your application (namely the personal statement, references and grades) and decide whether or not to make you a conditional offer, and you are allowed to go to the university once you've achieved the grades you need - in the UK the grades needed to go to most universities (barring open courses, I think) is A-levels, with the levels themselves varying by subject and Uni, for example the universities I've applied to mostly expect me to get AAA - AA*A*.

Some universities, particularly the high-end Unis, will invite you to an interview first to decide whether or not you're suitable for the course. In the case of Mathematics at Oxford, the full process involves submitting an application, taking a Maths Aptitude Test (MAT) and then the applicants who performed the best are invited to an interview - at this stage there are around 3 interviews for every university place. If the interview goes really well, then you are offered a place at the university. Considering that Oxford is the second best university on the planet, they need to go through more than just 'sign up and pay' ;P

Re: General Discussion 5

good luck, Hwd! i hope we've taught you well in SPAM, when they start asking important questions, talk about random things like food or video games or funny YouTube videos.

make sure all of your thoughts are completely out-of-context. guaranteed you'll get in, no doubt, no questions, no second guesses.

Re: General Discussion 5

i don't mind being out in the cold. weather patterns alter my state of mind, i think and feel slightly differently in different climates and times of the year. i like the atmosphere both outside and inside of me in winter. honestly, what bothers me the most about cold weather is ALL the trouble i have to go to to go outside, all the extra (sometimes pretty bulky) stuff i have to put on just so my body doesn't freeze.

the human body's pretty weak.
