If they screw it up I will be very disappointed. Trailer was pretty good though, I'm looking forward to that and Godzilla next summer.

Nice to see you again, RDX. I'm with you on that one, after how the first left
me feeling, I am hoping they treat the second one with as much or more care.

Re: Movie Discussion Thread

I just saw Gravity in 3D and it was actually probably the only movie I'd ever advise anyone to see in 3D. I normally hate 3D, partially because I wear glasses, and it's hard to put glasses over my glasses, but also because you're paying extra for something you're going to not even notice after 20 minutes of the movie. But, the rest of my family likes it, so whenever we go to see movies, it's usually in 3D. However, this movie was awesome, with 3D or without, but I'd still advise you to see it in 3D for the full experience. I saw the movie without knowing anything about it beforehand, and I think that's probably the best way to go with it. I'll only say one thing, and that's if your dream was to become an astronaut, this movie will probably change your mind.

Saw Thor 2 the other day, it was fun but man...that Loki was actually rather annoying. He reminded me of jar jar binks.

Re: Movie Discussion Thread

But everyone loves Loki! He has all the fangirls!

Seriously though, I wasn't the biggest fan of the first Thor movie, but I'll probably see Thor 2 eventually just because of the connection with The Avengers, which I loved. I wasn't aware it was already out, though.

Not seen the first. And lets be honest. The only like him because "they can change him" and he happens to be hot.

Re: Movie Discussion Thread

I just Finished the Star wars Prequels on dvd...

I LIKED EM!!! :-P

I haven't seen them in years but it made me feel so happy that now I could actually understand the whole "republic is falling apart and liberty will fall to into the separatist movement!" stuff :-P

So shoot me. I like em, but I can kinda see why people would be underwhelmed because they are just so different from the original films.

That all said moving on to the original films yet, I have only relay seen them on my Grandmas VHS tapes, so I am interested in seeing the things they added in and changed.

Re: Movie Discussion Thread

I didn't even know there was any "controversy" over the prequels until very recently. I watched them all years ago, and apart from the effects being better in the prequels, I didn't notice much difference in terms of overall quality.

To be fair, though, I was pretty young when I watched them, and not that interested in Star Wars to begin with.

If you don't hear from me in a few days, the Star Wars fans probably shot me. ;-;

Re: Movie Discussion Thread

KL and I watched this movie last night:
CyberbullyMoviePoster2.jpg

I remember seeing the commercials for this years ago and thinking it looked so stupid. I mean, "Cyberbu//y"... really?

It was about as teen-drama-y as I expected. A girl, Taylor, gets a laptop from her birthday and joins a social networking site called Cliquesters. The popular girl and her band of followers start picking on her online as well as at school. One of her friends, Brunette Girl (can't remember her name), even makes a fake account to pretend to be interested in Taylor but then turn on her, all because she was jealous of Taylor and angry at her for calling her a *bleep*. This eventually drives Taylor to attempt suicide.

After that scene is where it starts to get really preachy. Taylor's mom runs around trying to find the culprit behind the fake account, running into various political stereotypes along the way. There was the father of the popular girl who defended his daughter with the "freedom of speech" defense (does anyone above the age of 13 actually use this as an excuse for being mean to someone?); the poor old senator who just can't understand the internet enough to regulate it and leaves all that stuff up to his staff; and the school principal and police officer who can't do anything because "this state doesn't have any laws against bullying on the internet."  There are also lines scattered throughout the movie such as "they can say whatever they want because they're anonymous behind a computer screen!" With the exception of the fake account, this doesn't make any sense because the website they're talking about is a social network where everyone uses their real names.

We decided to watch this movie in the first place to make fun of it, but I actually found myself making fun of it a lot less than I thought I would. (Still doesn't mean it was good, though. tongue)

Re: Movie Discussion Thread

wasn't there already a movie with essentially that exact same plot out a few years ago? i remember being subjected to it in school when the teachers couldn't find anything better to show us at the end of the year. some girl gets picked on by a bunch of popular girls or something, and then it escalates to online stuff and she attempts suicide and fails, and then at the end of the movie she tells off the popular girls and finds a friend or something.

i can't remember the name, and if i'm not making it sound very appealing, don't worry. it sucks exactly as much as i'm describing it. i'm just saying, hasn't this been done already?

Re: Movie Discussion Thread

This came out in 2011, apparently, so it might've been the movie you saw. That was pretty much how it went, right up to the end where she tells off the popular girl.

I'm actually surprised it was only 2011. I thought I remember seeing the commercials when I was in high school or something.

Yeah, it's pretty bad at parts. XD I especially like the parts where the main girl is reading the comments about her and suddenly slams her laptop shut and runs away....
