Re: Heavy metal
Music, lyrics, here there's nothing which can be called metal.
Metal delivers a strong message, or talks about death or other dramatic topics the group would like to show as derisory.
The song you posted isn't. It's not because there's a bit of battery and electric guitar that it can be called metal. Sorry.

Not all metal talks about death or any other dramatic topics, some metal is quite happy like Alcest. Some metal is very depressing like Shape of Despair. Some metal doesn't actually have a beat or lyrics at all and is just a recording of heavily distorted guitar tracks like Sunn O))). Some metal actually have no message and instead tell a story like Moonsorrow. ANY music can deliver a strong message, or talk about death or other dramatic topics that's the one thing that people miss, ANY genre can do that but most choose not to. That is not something that is exclusive to metal.
Next you're gonna tell me Opeth isn't metal because of songs like this:

Re: Heavy metal
Sounds like variety.
No, like AC/DC has been pushed from rock to metal, and kids today thinking they're "rocking", this isn't metal for me. And there is a way to do it behind.
Metal means stronger than rock. Maybe if some scientist invents something above, it will be a new style of music name.

And Devin Townsend also makes metal, what's your point? Regardless of whether or not the album in question is metal, if anyone deserves to be in this topic, it's Devin Townsend.
I rest my case.
AC/DC metal? What?

Would you classify these as metal? ![]()

Re: Heavy metal
I meant some people today consider AC/DC as metal while back in the days it was said to be rock ^^'

Re: Heavy metal
Hope I'm not doing too much of a bump here, but I love metal. Mostly symphonic metal but I listen to other types as well. I would say epica is probably one of my favorites. Actually I'm kind of a fan of the other bands epica's founder was in as well: After forever and Mayan.
However I also enjoy a lot of powerwolf, some iron maiden, a handful of iced earth and kamelot songs, and I used to be a giant disturbed and nightwish fan.
