Indeed not a problem at all.

For me it would have to be Call of Duty Black Ops. The thing glitched or froze at one point. Luckily I was able to finish it.

Not really. At that time nintendo was already developing nes. It only hurt atari, which that company never really made any good games anyway. ET proved that point.

Atari sucks, they didn't even have online play and the graphics sucked. and they have like NO games, no Call of Duty, no Modern Warfare, the server is always down, and the games have like NO good DLC. also the hardware is so big and not stylish at all, it's like, why even release a system like this?

But the question was whether any of those games were actually good.

I don't have an opinion on it either way (never played any Atari games), but there's no reason to misrepresent the past couple posts like that.

meh, that whole post was a joke, there are a lot of valid complaints one could make about the Atari too, depending what you want out of a video game. i remember the games being entertaining enough. some of them very frustrating. in fact, to go back to the original topic, if i thought hard enough about it, the worst game i've ever played would probably be an Atari one, if only because of the difficulty factor of some of the games (while others were extremely easy) combined with impatience. actually, going along with that line of thinking, Megaman 2 or 3 (or 4 or 5 or 7 or X6) could fit here, too.

or maybe a very modern game (last 2 years or newer) that i've played with friends. something is just missing from them. the imaginative spark that made old games so interesting just seems lost in these things, no matter how unrealistic the content actually is. it feels like fantasy for the sake of fantasy, rather than actual cognitive invention happening.

edit: let's just go with X6. that game annoys the crap out of me. i lose just as many times WITH GAMESHARK CODES as i do without them.

I agree with you. In modern games, instead of you figuring things out in the game, everything is directed right at you and is easy to understand.

This is why I play handheld games more these days.

Ive also been tending to stay old school. Games these days pretty much suck. Glad my Ouya can play PS1, GBA and 64 emulators perfectly with no lag.

I know it's just your opinion, but I don't think it's fair to say that modern games all suck. Just wondering what you're basing this off of. I know I used to have a similar mindset before I started playing a lot of games (nostalgia goggles and all that), but the more I started played them, the more that feeling went away. I will admit that many of them do try to hold your hand too much. The constant objectives and waypoints showing you exactly where to go can get annoying, but in some games, such as massive open world games, it is kind of necessary. Sometimes it just seems like they assume all gamers are clueless kids, when in reality most gamers are older. Though I've found that some of the best modern games I've played are indie titles. Which is great because they don't have the ridiculous $60 price tag. (See Journey, Outland, Limbo, Mark of the Ninja) I really like Nintendo for the reason that the never really embraced the problems that a lot of modern games have, and always come out with really good first party titles. The 3DS for example has some great games.

I do like a variety of different types of games though. I thoroughly enjoy games like Half Life 2 and Metroid Prime, where all the narrative is told through gameplay, and I also really like the Uncharted series which is known for its cinematic cutscenes. I guess it's all just preference.

Hmm, worst game I ever played though...I generally don't play bad games because I only buy games that I'm almost positive I'll enjoy so I won't waste my money. I guess I would have to go with Enter the Dragonfly (only bought it cause it was Spyro). That game was laggy, buggy, and just overall not very fun.

when i was making that point about them holding your hand too much, i wasn't actually making that point. i was referring to the developers, not the players. the overall feeling of a game being "designed" rather than "created" is really bland.

"let's throw in a monster here, monsters exist in fantasy, right?"
"let's put this guy in a hood so he looks more magical and obscure."
"let's put a bunch of glowy stuff in the background and main character's hand. glowy stuff happens a lot in fantasy stuff."

it just seems like they were extremely disinterested and just threw something down. and this happens in like, every game we (irl friend and i) play. don't get me wrong, the other thing you guys said is right too, though. it definitely carries over into gameplay.

You must also understand that 'ccrogers' doesn't make much logical
arguments. Kind of like Clocky saying almost every movie sucks because it

There's this thing that I see a lot where people don't like anything new, whether it be just in one franchise or overall. It's like everyone is so scared of change that any change renders the games unplayable. Although this doesn't just apply to games.

I'm not sure why people have this mentality but I'm guessing their mindset is something like this:
"The old games were good"
"I don't like change"
"Improvements to old games = change so they should have remained the same" <-- Even though in many cases remaining the same would be a terrible idea for the game's creators!
"I have a narrow range of games that I like so new games don't catch my fancy no matter how similar to old games they are, if they aren't [favourite franchise] then I won't buy"
"I haven't looked at all the factors that decide whether the game is worth buying because I believe the limited number of negatives about the game somehow outweigh the goods"

Of course that's an exaggeration, but that's kind of what I see the reason why people don't like change so much. People should be more open to change (although not necessarily too open because then you have people that only say new games are good... it's the newgenner-genwunner situation).
