so how many of you have friends who complain about those black metal albums with unnecessary interludes?

those same friends of yours probably complain about Nickelback, right? why do they hate Nickelback? is it because every song sounds the same? is it because they don't like Chad's hairdo that week? is it because they're elitists who hate music because all of their other elitist friends hate Nickelback? well, let's look a little closer.

Nickelback - Here and Now

first four songs:
1) song about anger/fighting
2) song about drinking
3) song about people uniting and helping each other out
4) song about Chad engaging in inappropriate activities with a waitress

as you can see, there is a lot of lyrical inconsistency here. throw "Just To Get High" into Dark Horse, and all of the lyrics on Nickelback's first album, and you've got the post-grunge equivalent of a pizza with too many toppings: everything is disorganized, and if you think about it too much, you'll probably get a little confused and you might have bathroom issues later on. those friends actually hate Nickelback for the same reason they don't like experimental black metal: they change things up too much.

so Shinedown's "The Sound of Madness" seems pretty good. heard a single from their newest album and it made me very worried and depressed (the only word i can think of is "selling out", even if that's not the case), but yeah, "The Sound of Madness" seems to have some good stuff on it.
