I just came home and found a random dog in my house

So i just got home, and i found a random dog sitting on my couch.
I have 100% no idea where it came from. Its got no collar, and its a golden retriever. I came in from work and found it sitting there. I looked at it and it looked at me and went back to sleep!

What in the world? How did it get in my house?

I at the moment live with my older brother. He is on a trip right now in Boston and wont be back until next week.

Little Update: Turns out the owner did not want it. (Cruel), and randomly opened my unlocked garage door and put him in there. The dog then came in through the old dog door.
Thats what happened. I was able to find out who it was.

SO... after thinking, im going to adopt the dog since nobody wants it, and these days they get put to death if not taken from pound in a week.

Dogs take a lot of care, I hope you're prepared... Golden Retrievers are the best type of dog though. THE BEST.

Strange things happen sometimes. Glad you get a new pet. Does your brother know what happened? I mean like do you have a number to call him? iIf your living with him and plan on adopting the dog he might want to know.

One of my brothers friends brought a dog home with her Parents knowing, Sadly (but understandably) it got sent back

I wouldn't want a dog in my house either. The dog that our family owns has
already cost our family more money than I can guess. Probably in the high
thousands area (in dollars) or even tens of thousands. It ruined so much of
our belongings. Not only that, but my sister can't discipline a dog at all.

But if my [future] wife wants a dog, she'll only be allowed to get a Beagle.

On topic, you can always do what ISLS reccomended. Find a no-kill shelter.

I'm not really a fan of dogs. I definitely wouldn't keep one if I found it in my house, and not just because my landlord doesn't allow pets.

When we buy a house, KingLambda can only get one dog on the condition that he cleans up every mess it makes.
