Re: Freedom Tower now Tallest Building in US

Why can't we ever talk about other things? Like cake? Or who was the best host on MST3k? Or cake?

Please don't post if you aren't interested in talking about the subject of the thread. It's common courtesy. If you don't like the active threads, make some new ones about stuff you want to talk about, simple solution.

That's funny. I always feel like the Empire State Building is the tallest as well, even though it's really not even close

Anyone seen Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol? Tom Cruise climbs the Burj Dubai. The scene itself was pretty cool.

Re: Freedom Tower now Tallest Building in US

Im sorry but i had to bump this to add my angry 2 cents.

The new world trade center is a terrible design made by an amateur.

First off, the new lead towers, 1,2 and 7 WTC all look like twisted up pieces of garbage with ceramic steel spray painted on it.
Next up, we got that gigantic waste of space in the center being conned as a memorial. The thing is, a memorial still could of been made, but why there? In the site blood and guts were shed all over? We already got that horrific giant park in Manhattan called Central Park, that while visited by millions daily, is too big. Its giant and wastes space. Buildings could be there.

Remember the old design of the World Trade Center?
It was unique and was basically like a park.

wtc_plaza_ball.jpg
This design featured a large park plaza in the middle with fountains, art, seating and food carts.
Inside, it featured 2 giant towers with one featuring one of the most successful dining places in history, Windows On The World.  The other featuring the most successful observation deck.  Another was a very busy hotel with a giant pool and gym on the top floor, which was successful. The others were mild offices. But there was a busy mall underground as well. The old design was superior in so many ways. While the new looks modern, looks are not everything. The old designs were innovative and helped the city.

The new design, each new tower cuts the max capacity of the complex by 30%, and the complex wont even feature a 5WTC!  So only 6 towers will be built. This is not cool.
My rant is over.

That doesn't look like a memorial, it looks like that huge bee nest from TLoS: ANB.

What are you referring too? The Picture i posted or the current WTC Plaza?
True, the old plaza looked like it had a giant bees nest in the middle, but it was cool and nice to look at.

The new plaza is some bland concrete slab with 2 giant holes in the ground.
