Anyone go to cons?

Anyone here go to anime conventions or anything of the sort? I'll be going to Otakon and /maybe/ Katsukon this year and was wondering if anyone else was interested in this sort of thing?

I've never actually been to one before so it should be quite the experience. If you've ever been to any, plan to in the future, or are just interested in the topic in general, post here!

I'm sure there are some good stories out there.

They only convention related stuff I go to are gun shows. Sorry.
Then again, I stay clear away from anime/manga/whateverJapanese stuff.

I've been to a couple of film conventionsbut this year I'll be going to some anime and game cons now that I have the money.

Naah there is never any artound us, plus been stuck in a room with million of "hipster" or irritation overly happy otakus realy will make me go on a killing spree.

I've been to DaishoCon in 2011 and 2012. It's a pretty small convention, and I'm not actually that knowledgeable about anime, so a lot of the panels and things don't interest me much. Everyone in our group makes their own costumes, though, which is always fun. I'd post pictures if I had any.

I've always thought it would be cool if spyroforum members could all meet somewhere; maybe we could just pick a convention. XD

I've never been to any con. They are always far far away from Czech.

Normally I don't really go to cons because weaboos. But Megacon is near my town and TARA *bleep*ing STRONG is going to participate so I'm going with the schools animu club so I can meet her.

I still remember being in the KSI gaming community over Xbox Live. A few of
them met up at an MLG convention thing last year and hung out. My friend
was part of that. He said it was nice to finally meet them, and there were no
problems - no creeps or anything. The guys and ladies in KSI are mature,
around our age (20s and up). But I'd take a knife just in case.
Then again, I never leave my house without my knife...

The idea of us meeting is an aged idea, it's the matter of actually finding a
time and place for it. And money, hotels, etc.

Well, I mainly carry it if I need to use it as, for example, a tool such as cutting
a string, rope, and more. Kind of like using a hammer as a tool. But I can use
it for defence if need be, hopefully I'll never have to do that.

Anyway, isn't going to a convention an expensive trip? I mean just getting in
without including motel/hotel fees and food and such.

Don't you think that's a bit dangerous to carry a knife around on the rare off chance that you need to cut a rope?

I've just started going to the conventions. I felt... Left out when I didn't cosplay, so I'm in the midst of making Erza Scarlet's Normal fight robes. First one this year is in August, where I get to meet one of my favourite voice actors.
