Re: The Animated Movies topic

anyone else perceive that the characters in animated movies are largely the same from film to film? no matter how unique they are in their film, it often seems like you can find the exact same oddballs with the same exaggerated characteristic in so many others.

.. does that seem like a fair complaint to have?

Well you can get the same things. For example

2strong inderpendent woman" has been done to death.
"goofy sidekick" is boring as tar now
"Grumpy old guy" is grumpy get of my screan guy.
and love intrest is just...there...they...exist...

Re: The Animated Movies topic

I've said this before and I will say it again. How To Train Your Dragon is my favourite movie.

Now that that's said, I have only seen a few Disney movies and I honestly believe they are very much overhyped (especially the Lion King). They're average, the same with majority of Dreamworks and Pixar animations. Going on personal preference, I find the Studio Ghibli and other Japanese movies far more entertaining. I'm not sure what the Japanese do, but their story lines are always unique, and that's what makes or breaks a movie for me. I also acknowledge that I can't judge Disney, Dreamworks and Pixar based on my limited viewings of their work.

I might also add, I don't care whether these movies feature acclaimed actors and actresses. Just because they're famous, does not imply the movie's quality will improve.

---

I actually just watched the Dragon Age movie. I'm not sure if I liked it because it's Dragon Age, or because my favourite voice actress is the main character.

Really almost all of the Disney Sequels are like T.V shows. They've got the budget of one, The animation of one, the scale of one. Heck I think the same company or branch who does the Disney channel cartoons made those sequels.

Main exception to this rule is Rescuers Down Under. That *bleep* had scale, great animation and great plot.

Rescuers down under is god awful.

Only disney sequels i like are lion king 2 and cinderella 3

>Not liking Rescuers Down under
>Liking Lion King 2

pcluE.png

Also I tried to see Cinderella 3 and man...I can't even get past the opening. It was paced way too fast. That opening song was horrible. I dunno if it gets better but man. I just can't do it.

Ok i can explain

Yes the opaning is way to fast and wtf but honestly affter that you find yourself in a much better place tongue  a camp vut sweet film also i kinda like the opaning song xD its goofy but fun

Lion king2 is ok...its not worthy of the "omg best thing everrrrrrrrr" treatment it gets but it is still ok.

Also rescuers down under i just haaatteeeeeeee it is ugly to look at boring dull, ugly, ugly, ugly, and even more ugly. I hated it like mad

Wich is odd considering the first is one of my top 5 fravorut disney films. I find the second ugly because of how neet it is. It makes the scechyness of the first loose that charme and just looks like *bleep*.

- The movie is wonderful. You must be blind. You must see the whole movie.
- You look just as good as the dragons. *wink*
- Why are 90% of your "movie reviews" just plain hatred?

Oh my.
Molly_Brown.gif

They looked like *bleep*, horrid things. That "toothless" as his name looks like a leach that was trampled in a stampede. The designs are ugly. At least Pixar can animate good looking things; DreamWorks (aside from Shrek and ice age) always come up with such ugly designs. I mean Madagascar the animals look dreadful.  Kind of like you momma when she wakes up!

OH NO I DIDN’T!
OH YES I DID!

And as for my so called hate filled reviews well tell DreamWorks to stop creating utter *bleep* then perhaps we could have something nice to talk about darling. I mean THIS is there next film.

I am no *bleep*ing you.

Jeez Swaffy that was a bit childish...I mean I love HTTYD too but Clock-la is entitled to her opinion about a god dam animated film. hmm

Look at this way Clock-la. While the dragons are designed like *bleep*. At least there not as bad as the live show was.

Re: The Animated Movies topic

Yeah, personal insults over not liking a movie = extremely childish. Like, Cynder fanbrat immediately after DotD came out childish. Yeah, I went there. tongue

But really, you want to know an argument I never want to hear again? You don't like something I like, therefore you must not have watched/read/seen the whole thing. Nope, there are things called opinions, people. And if other people don't share yours it's not the end of the world.

Aaaannnyway....

I thought HTTYD was a pretty good movie, but I agree with some of Clock-la's points, particularly about the dragons being ugly. I mean, come on, this? That's definitely ugly. I disagree on "Toothless" being ugly, but he also didn't really look much like a dragon and reminded me more of Stitch than anything. That's another thing though, the names of the characters. Maybe a dude named "Hiccup" just couldn't come up with something better than "Toothless" for a dragon.

tongue still im not all negative, i liked snowman and the snowdog, and i realy liked brave big_smile

-edit- -spits out tea- a live show? How could that work? Then again lion king worked ok tongue

Still i think i have a vendetta against dream-works due to a lot of there films (recent) either been slop or a *bleep*y sequel

Re: The Animated Movies topic

I haven't seen HTTYD, but I've heard good things... I can't see myself enjoying it though, as I used to read the books, and the movie just seems like a complete bastardisation of the books... I mean, there's just so much wrong... I know that a lot of information from books are lost when they become a film, but this is just a whole new level...

Re: The Animated Movies topic

Im not to fussed about book adaptations, i mean things do need to change as film is a whole diffrent forum of media, but there are some cases were i am left thinking "what is the book like"

Because my fravorut studio ghible film tales from earthsea was described as "a story with just the same names" so lord knows what the book is like tongue

The HTTYD books are... different, to say the least...

I mean, in the books, Toothless is a small green dragon that's actually toothless.

Yeah its full of weird and even strangely dark themes for a children movie, but thats one of the sole reasons I love it so! unfortunately they are planning to reboot the series (where have I heard that before..) for a new audience in the same vain of the Smurfs and Alvin and the chipmunks sad

ikr however in this day and age people would probably think a movie titled Dexter would be about the serial killer, meaning they would probably call the movie something lame like "The boy genius" same scenario with Avatar and the last air bender movies really tongue
