The Legend of Cynder: Rise of the Dragon Cult

This book is a sequel to my Spyro Fan-fiction: The Legend of Cynder: The Precursor Legacy. It will take place 4 generations after the ending of the novel; with Spyro and Cynder's subsequent descendents being the main characters.

Re: The Legend of Cynder: Rise of the Dragon Cult

Ok, now i have a summery of what i intend to put in this new book of mine, though it does also roughly summarize my previous work-it being the sequel. I should probably post a timeline of the events that occur within the universe i created around the Spyro Games.

Re: The Legend of Cynder: Rise of the Dragon Cult

Ok...so I'm almost done with the introduction of it and set to begin the first chapter. I've started working on a timeline encompassing the events within the universe, though it is not yet finished. When Complete, it will span millions of years.

Re: The Legend of Cynder: Rise of the Dragon Cult

I begun the chapter, called "Emergence", with  a dragon's egg hatching in a specially built nursery structure. In the Timeline i cited in my earlier reply, i wrote that In her elder years, Cynder and Spyro founded the Cydonian Dynasty, though the story line takes place 800 years, 4 generations after that event. The hatching dragon is the heir of said Dynasty. If you would like a description of this structure, I'll be more then happy to make one, though i will warn you, it is quite detailed.

Detailed, yeah. I was about to say, it seems like you thought this stuff out
quite a bit. I guess that's good if you want to create an immersive
environment for your readers. It seems like you also have a timeline.

Re: The Legend of Cynder: Rise of the Dragon Cult

yes i do, and it spans millions of years. I also expand on a brief history of the "Precursor Civilization", who were explicitly detailed in The Legend of Cynder: The Precursor Legacy , my previous novel, though i did not talk about them on the topic ( My Spyro Fan fiction), but they will be mentioned in this one as well, as the technology employed by the more developed of my political factions use technology reverse engineered from their artifacts.

Re: The Legend of Cynder: Rise of the Dragon Cult

Ok, I've begun adding details to the setting of the current chapter-Emergence. most of the details deal with the main setting itself, others with the time period. Right now, that setting is Warfang's palace, and I have added details on two of the palace's buildings, the nursery structure, which i mentioned earlier, and a large cathedral to a tribal god called the Creator. I also state that there are two tall towers that overlook the palace-but their entrances are sealed.

Re: The Legend of Cynder: Rise of the Dragon Cult

you know, i like that you're giving these regular updates. but will there ever be a chance for us to actually *read* the fanfiction you write? i mean, it's just, you talked a lot about the last one too, and how much effort went into it, but i don't remember reading anything from it, or even a link anywhere to do so. unless that one snippet was from that story, but i think it was from this one.

Re: The Legend of Cynder: Rise of the Dragon Cult

I did give a little part of that one, part of the chapter detailing the siege of the city in that one, and i will give you some here. i was a little hesitant since i only have 1 chapter in TLOC: Rise of the Dragon Cult, versus The Precursor Legacy, where i had far more progress already invested in it, and therefor could reveal more of it.

Introduction: The Legend of Cynder: Rise of the Dragon Cult

Hidden text

"I am, being of the royal bloodline, destined to join my mother in the Catacombs",

-Cynder to Tera prior to the final battle battle of the Koozer-Ga war, Jan 17, 2836

The war against the Koozer-Ga, a mysterious parasitic alien life-form,left the countries of the alliance in massive devastation. Warfang, capital of the Dragon Confederation, was forced to destroy Yellow District, it's main source of food and supplies, to prevent the enemy from attacking the city directly.  Patala, an ancient city-state who had never experienced the devastation of war, was forced to come to terms with the unrelenting enemy, the same enemy who had destroyed the ancient Precursor Civilization 100,000 years earlier. New Atlantis, the powerful capital of the Atlantean Confederation, which untill then had never feared attack by any enemy, lie in ruins. Neyla, her governor, was forced to rebuild nearly the entire city after it had nearly fell to the enemy. Warclaw, capital city of the proud Cheetah Tribe, now had a new enemy to defend against: the erupting volcano outside her walls, triggered by the crash of a spaceship during the battle to defend the city. Temple Mountain, once the abode of Malefor, slowly calmed down, allowing the floating islands to rejoin the surface. The Dragon Temple was restored to it's former glory, though at that time Cynder's court had more pressing issues-her succession. It, however, was secure by her daughter, the result of her artificial insemination at the hands of the Coalition of Civilized Governments. She began to reverse the devastation of her capital city, though she never lived to see it completed. Her daughter-and her subsequent descendents founded the Cydonian Dynasty, which was to endure for the next 800 years. the Heir to the dynasty was on the verge of being born in the ancient palace, and it was up to her to continue the royal line and ensure the kingdom remained peaceful, as it has been since Cynder's last days.

Re: The Legend of Cynder: Rise of the Dragon Cult

I've started a second chapter, called "Ivory and Obsidian" which is intended to flesh out the events that happened after the end of The Precursor Legacy, but before Rise of the Dragon Cult. It's primary setting will be the two principal structures of the Palace-the Ivory and Obsidian Towers, and their associated complexes of buildings. all i have so far is that both were abandoned immediately after the events in The Precursor Legacy, so expect to hear about them often.

Re: The Legend of Cynder: Rise of the Dragon Cult

Here is what i have so far for the chapter.

Hidden text

The room in which she landed was dank and illuminated only by the shaft of sunlight created by the hole in the roof of the ancient building. The walls are covered in a thick layer of dust and cobwebs. Despite the the pitch darkness of the rooms and corridors of the building, her eyes quickly adjusted to the poor lighting conditions present within the interior of the ancient, crumbling structure. She is the first creature to set foot in the Obsidian Tower's complex of buildings since it was sealed on Cynder's death, some 800 years prior.

This is still a work in progress, and as such this text will be subject to subsequent alteration and change.

Re: The Legend of Cynder: Rise of the Dragon Cult

I've worked a bit on the aformentioned chapter, though it is still incomplete but vividly detailed. An example is a massive chapel in the Obsidian tower. Two entire pages of text are devoted to it's description.
