N64 Games

...Because where is the love for the cartridge based 64 bit console? C'mon, people, in spite of the majority of Spyro games being for the PlayStation series, there are some great games that came out for the N64. What were your favorites?

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (crazy awesome gold cartridge with holographic label to top off a fantastic game. Hellz yeah!)
Banjo-Kazooie
Banjo-Tooie (can't find it anywhere, sadly)
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil
Duke 64 (heheheh... great game)
Quest 64
Super Smash Brothers
Mario Kart 64
Super Mario 64
Tony Hawks 1, 2 and 3 (no loading screens? In 2000? EAT IT, AMERICAN WASTELAND)
Pilot Wings
Nightmare Creatures

So what about everyone else? Sure, the cartridges were crazy expensive, but wasn't it worth your parent's money in the end?

Re: N64 Games

I was one of the lucky fellows who had both a Playstation and an N64. Honestly I think my favorite game is a tie between Ocarina of Time and Goldeneye. I've actually never played Banjo Kazooie though. I've been extremely happy with my 3DS Ocarina of Time though.

Same here, but I have a few memories of playing one.... I played Smash Bros at a friend's house once and thinking that I preferred my Playstation by far. Another time I played Banjo Kazooie at my parents' friends' house and their daughter threw a tantrum about me using her N64. tongue Mostly what I remember is that the controller was super confusing on those things.

I'm so glad I never got rid of the console itself, but you did mention some games I sold myself. Sadness. I'll have to get them back again. AMAZON, AHOY

Is it just me? Or had OoT not aged well at all over the years compared to other Zelda games. I mean I'm liking the game. But the innovations later games make(Being able to lock on to multiple targets in WW was so good) seem to downplay it some. Least with older Zelda games there still playable and enjoyable like the two Oracle games and Zelda 2. I'm just finding it a bit underwhelming is all.

Anyway on topic. I actually still have my N64 in my attic gathering dust. I remember playing Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2, Mario Kart 64, SSB, Duke Nukem and Pokemon Snap on it. I need to see if they made any good 64 emulators. So I can play them again someday.

Re: N64 Games

I never had a Nintendo 64. The first console I had was the Mega Drive, then I went straight to the PS1, then the PS2... then after that it all get random, but basically I always used to only get Playstation consoles (with exception to the Mega Drive), and never handheld consoles. This changed when I got the DS... But because of this I never got a Nintendo 64. It also means that although I've always been a Pokémon fan, the first Pokémon games I got were late Generation 3-Generation 4.

Oh yeah I forgot I had Hey You Pikachu too, thankfully some of the N64 games are on the shop channel on the Wii Menu so I have Mario 64, Majoras Mask, and Pokemon Snap on my Wii.

Re: N64 Games

My consoles went in this order:
SNES
PS1
Gameboy
PS2
Gameboy Advance (around the same time as PS2 I think)
DS

So never owned an N64. A friend of mine did though, and he also had some good games for it. Also, my freaking dentist at one point had a whole row of game systems to keep people busy (including an N64, a PS1, and I think I remember a gamecube somewhere), and from what I remember, goldeneye was good, Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie were excellent, Mario 64 was good, and I couldn't play enough DK64. For some overly stupid reason, the only Zelda games I've ever played are the original (only bits and pieces on the original nes at someone else's house and some on a gameboy) and not much else. .-. does that make me a bad person? I was just more interested in games I didn't know about rather than the ones everyone knew about.

Re: N64 Games

All the good games for the 64 were freakin' GOOD, ya know? Banjo-Kazooie still has a place in my heart as the greatest platformer ever made.
