I've heard of it but I never saw that. Didn't look that appealling to me. I think it was because it was on SFL(Here in America at least) and I generally hate SFL shows.
As for Game of Thrones I go LINK REMOVED for my T.V viewing needs. Click on the Putlocker links since there the best ones.

I wouldn't worry too much about people pirating this. They don't seem to care too much.

Re: General Discussion 5
So they're pirating it because...
They have to wait a week for episodes (The horror!)
They don't want to pay for a membership (Understandable, but they can just buy the DVD)
It's too "exclusive"
Those are pretty poor excuses, and none of those make it okay IMO unless HBO has actually stated that they don't mind. Either way, linking to pirated content isn't allowed here.
Also, why does "TorrentFreak" have a pretty, pink layout?

Re: General Discussion 5
HBO goes out of their way to make it clear they do NOT approve. Why else would it only be legally available to their subscribers. Also, if everyone pirated it, the show would not be getting renewed for new seasons because guess what? It wouldn't be making them money

Re: General Discussion 5
I'm aware it's illegal. However, I'd also like to point out that the following is considered pirating just as much:
http://www.youtube.com/v/5fMS_k_aF3o
Unless there is some sort of difference I'm not seeing? These episodes have been posted dozens of times on these forums.

Re: General Discussion 5
Difference is that Hasbro has said they're okay with people watching MLP online, as long as it's not the high quality version that is available on iTunes, AND the Hub comes with most cable packages, whereas HBO requires a paid subscription that you're ripping them off from. My point is only partially that it's illegal, it's also why steal something if you want those who made it to know you support them?
MLP is supported through its merch. Game of Thrones has merchandise, but few actually buy it because it's overpriced. How Game of Thrones makes money is people paying for either HBO or the DVDs.

Re: General Discussion 5
Edit: ^ Better explanation than my half-*bleep*ed one.
Firefox is trying to make me download a swf to view that; what is it? I'm guessing MLP? If so, I would agree with you except for the fact that the creators of the show actually said it was okay as long as it's not their iTunes versions being uploaded on youtube.

Re: General Discussion 5
If that's the case, shouldn't those links be removed from the forum too? The ones that are the high-quality uploads? For example, this was posted:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl … fFnBSJnaxw
It was taken down by Hasbro, but it was still considered one of the 'illegal' copies.
My main point is that people will always pirate because they believe they are an exception. I don't disagree with removing the GoT link, but I'm just pointing out that there are exceptions to almost everything that make people believe they aren't harming anyone.

Well then, I clearly have not been paying enough attention to which ones were posted. I assure you it was unintentional. Thank you, I guess, for correcting me to prove your point. However, my lack of close moderation does not negate the point we were trying to make.

Of course. I don't know why you felt the need to make this point, though; this was never disputed. But it seemed to me like, with your link to the TorrentFreak article and saying not to worry about it, you were trying to say posting that link was okay.

Don't worry, I can almost guarantee that if the link for the GoT show was a youtube video, no one would have pointed it out. People associate certain websites with 'pirating', and others as 'legit'. For example, not every torrent in the world is a pirated copy of something, but people will always associate it with piracy.

Well here's the issue. I've never seen an episode of GoT. I honestly don't like TV shows that much, but if I were to try to watch it, here are my problems:
I don't have cable (i.e. no HBO service)
HBO online streaming has been cancelled.
HBO has made it clear Netflix will not be able to host it.
Hulu does not host it either.
Literally no legal options to stream in any way.
Here are the options:
iTunes: First season only, $40, days of download wait, and over 20GB of space.
DVD: First season only, $60 (unless using Amazon, which includes weeks of wait).
Pirate: Both seasons, free, no wait, no hassle.
I've been trying to find some sort of press release by HBO on any pirating issue, but I can't seem to find any. I'm assuming they are either oblivious, stupid, or don't care. Otherwise they would have fixed the issue.
While on the subject of pirating, did you hear the story of the student charged $675,000 for sharing 30 songs?

Re: General Discussion 5
I don't watch the show either, but if I wanted to, if faced with the options you listed, I'd just not watch it. If I had money and I wanted it badly enough, I would pay for the DVD, but I'm not going to get it for free when it's supposed to be paid for just because it's more convenient to me. No matter how inconvenient it is, those excuses are all just excuses and don't justify it.
Also, I think it's generally assumed that companies don't want their stuff pirated, so I don't see why you'd expect them to release a statement on it, unless declaring "We don't support your piracy, guys, now stop it" a common practice that I'm just not aware of.
Edit: Haven't heard of that story; that's quite an excessive charge. I wonder how they calculated that. I think it would make the most sense if they charged $1ish for each illegal download like they said in the article, but for everyone who downloaded it.

Re: General Discussion 5
While I agree that the options are pretty crappy for watching the show I don't think they justify piracy. I pirated a couple episodes when the show first came out, I'll admit, but I realized I was going against my own morals and trying to justify doing so, so I stopped and decided to buy the DVD's instead. I have to wait a year longer than everyone else, but that's okay with me, I spent the year waiting for season one to be released on DVD by reading the books, and now I'll just live life without the show until season 2's DVD's come out.

Re: General Discussion 5
People can get really *bleep*y if they don't get their stuff right now.
I mean, those Australian pirates complaining that they have to wait a week to legally watch the newest episodes just made me facepalm. Come on....

Yeah, we have to wait two years longer than Japan to get Tales games, but I still wait because we still get them anyway.

True enough. We could pay for super expensive imports that we can't understand though. But then again, that's not immoral, just impatient and impulsive

Re: General Discussion 5
Only reason I pirate T.V shows is because DISH network sucks *bleep* and I don't have any good channels. Pretty much why I have my computer connected to my T.V so I can watch T.V shows on it. Otherwise I would watch it from my regular T.V
As for showing the link I apologize.
