Playstation Vita

With the release date coming in just about a week and a half (at least in the US), anyone plan on buying Sony's new handheld? How do you think it will stack up against the 3DS?

My opinion: It looks pretty interesting, though the rear touchscreen seems like just an odd gimmick to try and set it apart. The game selection as of now doesn't keep me interested either, except for Uncharted. The humongous price tag, not to mention I already own a 3DS with a bunch of games I want to get in mind, makes me think this'll be one I want to skip. Although playing your PS3 games on the go seems like a pretty awesome feature.

Re: Playstation Vita

Didn't think people were still interested in the Vita.

Too expensive for the amount of hardware though. The 3DS wasn't even that bad at its release. Now that the price of it is down so much, I don't see the Vita becoming a very viable platform.

lolwut? Who gives a *bleep* about the hardware? As long as the games are good. I'm fine with it.

Because the hardware used is what the price should be based on. Not to mention it effects the controls, the types of games, the graphics, the way the games are played, and the way they are presented.

Crappy hardware may not cause crappy games, but it is certainly correlative.

^ Agreed. Try playing games on your computer with a video card that only
has one gig of RAM. It'll cause your game to run as fast as your grandma.

Unless ... you have a grandma who can run in the olympics.

Re: Playstation Vita

Yeah, I think the Vita will need a substantial price drop for it to even compete in terms of sales. If people didn't buy the 3DS at full price, there's no way the Vita will be selling very well. Not to mention most people who enjoy handheld gaming are probably already Nintendo fans to begin with. It seems like Sony's has an up-hill battle with this one.

I don't necessarily think that better hardware gives better quality games. Sure you can make something look nice, but I feel like with a lot of modern games, there's too much focus on the technical aspects of the game rather than what actually matters--the gameplay.

Holy *bleep*. Someone who actually shares my problem with modern gaming. HUG ME BROTHER!!!!!!

Seriouslly though. By the time Persona 4 The Golden comes out in the U.S. The Vita should get a price drop.

What kind of RAM are you talking about? My graphics card has only 1GB of RAM, but it's GDDR5. I can run most games at full graphics.

I don't believe better hardware causes better games, but it can't be denied that it is pretty correlative. Take the Wii for example. Great controller hardware, but horrible computing hardware. A large majority of the good games on the Wii are good because it utilizes the controller. For the PS3 and Xbox, a large majority of the good games utilize the computing power. You would never be able to play Skyward Sword on a PS3, nor could you play Little Big Planet on the Wii.
