Rihanna, Nikki Minaj, Beyonce, LMFAO, Pitbull, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga....
What does everyone think of todays music like some of the artist above?
Music's been getting a lot lazy recently and all of them sound the same (Ex: All of Pitbull's music sound exactly the same, same goes with LMFAO [Sexy and I know it & Party Rock Anthem are basically the same song with different lyrics.]) However there are some of today's which are awesome like this one which is one of best of today's music IMO, this was released Jan. 2011:

Not a fan of most of it, but there are a few good songs on the radio now.
What's annoying is when I like almost everything about a song, but the lyrics are the same old clubs/partying/drinking/sex crap as 99% of other pop songs.

I'm not a big fan of much modern pop music myself. Every now and then there's something I like, but it's rare. I'll stick with video game and movie OSTs and folk rock.

^ Same i prefer songs with more naturall voice...though I must admit I have a soft spot for katie perry xD
TBh i think the only real "true" music singers i like would be Katie perry, Marina and the Dimonds and Adele. And maby one or two others
the rest is just songs from Films or games.

I can't stand modern music. Especially Rap. Good god I hate rap.
I mainly listen to Video game and movie OSTs and Classical.
It seems we have similar opinions of music

That last option makes me think you're assuming that video game music isn't that good. D: A lot of video game music is really good, and a lot of it is better than some music from whenever. Other than that, I say kinda sucks, but there are a few exceptions. Rap, hip-hop, a lot of pop, and the like just aren't that good though, and probably never will be.

Re: Rihanna, Nikki Minaj, Beyonce, LMFAO, Pitbull, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga....
As I see it, very few bands don't even know what to sing about than
sex/love/girls, etc. Like what Stormy said. Though I think that includes
more than just pop.
Read these lyrics, if you have the time.
... or these.
All it takes is some time to search for the right music than giving in to
whatever pops up at the top of the list.

Re: Rihanna, Nikki Minaj, Beyonce, LMFAO, Pitbull, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga....
here we go again. I could rant forever:
why do people think that today's music is ONLY top 40? there are literally thousands of musicians working on music and releasing it right now, yet people want to base all their arguments and statistics on music for what's on top 40 radio and television. if you wanna find something good, then take the time to look for it and stop complaining.
none of the options on the poll work for me. I don't listen to one genre of music, I listen to just about anything. I think that rihanna, nicki manaj, beyonce, and others have talent. nicki can rap really fast, and it's harder to do than it looks, and there's not many other legitimate female rappers in top 40 music. people keep saying that all pop music is autotuned, have you even heard beyonce's voice? do people even know what autotune is? it's an effect that makes you sound robotic and futuristic, not making an awful voice fantastic.
my personal favorite of top 40 music is enrique iglesias. in fact, this is a good example of when people say "all music these days is about partying and sex" blah blah blah....it's called marketing, that's what the majority public want to hear and what they like. enrique iglesias' past few singles have been all about that. however, if you actually take the time to listen to a full album of a top 40 artist, there are much more songs that AREN'T like that. now I'm not saying that all top 40 artists have other kinds of songs, because really, some don't.
here are some examples of songs from artists at the top of the charts that aren't about what I mentioned above:
rihanna - stupid in love
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcnlNgNGJ38
kesha - the harold song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnmY2srJ6uI
katy perry - who am I living for
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29naShMGHjY
avril lavigne - push
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKVcOIUD0Kw
I could go on, but I'm not going to.
once again, what you hear on the radio are only an artist's singles, and it does NOT represent them as a whole. it's marketing. it's called being smart and knowing how to make money.
people also seem to think that songs/radio have never been about being sexy and drinking and partying, but that's not true either. what about the 70's? getting high? or the 80's? hair metal? warrant, poison, david lee roth, motley crue, acdc, ect? and the 90's were pretty sleazy too. why are people only just noticing this now? it doesn't make you sound mature or smart. music has been this way for decades. get over it.
and just like in the past, there are lots of fantastic musicians and bands today that don't have songs like that, but people don't want to make an effort to actually look for them, so they just sit there complaining about "the good old days" aka, when they weren't even around, so technically people under 20 years old that say that don't even have the right to.

Re: Rihanna, Nikki Minaj, Beyonce, LMFAO, Pitbull, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga....
Honestly I just don't really care enough to look into artists like Kesha if all I ever hear from them is stuff I don't like. That marketing is obviously working on a lot of people, so good for those artists I guess, but it's doing the opposite for me.
I don't listen to music much at all anyway. I actually haven't downloaded a song in years, so I probably have no reason to even be posting here.

Re: Rihanna, Nikki Minaj, Beyonce, LMFAO, Pitbull, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga....
Another reason why I am not into the "top ##s" music is simply because it's
not my style. I listen to a lot of atmospheric rock, and I never see it in the top
100s. So I just go search for it. I also never see Christian bands or bands like
Thrice in the top. Most of what I see is just party music. I'm not a party person.
Even if the lyrics are about something positive [or neutral], it's still the style
that I am not attracted to. In other words, I'd rather blast Withyouathome in
my room than Justin Beaver.
I'm not trying to go against Aicebo's rant, since I agree with most of it (if not all).
Also, this is what autotune sounds like: [YouTube]
Next time I make a tutorial for something, I should use autotune.

Re: Rihanna, Nikki Minaj, Beyonce, LMFAO, Pitbull, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga....
yours is different swaffy because I know that you listen to lots of music that's from this era. my rant was directed at people who judge this whole generation solely on what's on the radio and say "LOL MUSIC WAS BETTER 20 YEARS AGO EVERYTHING TODAY SUX"

Re: Rihanna, Nikki Minaj, Beyonce, LMFAO, Pitbull, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga....
Mainstream music these days is not even what I like to call "real" music. Songs lack passion, meaning, purpose, soul, and sometimes talent. I think it's because so many people are so easily satisfied. There are artists out there that put so much into one song and are not noticed for it. For me personally, I am very picky about what I listen to and who the artist is. I have high standards for what I listen to, and 97% of the mainstream media does not cover that.

Re: Rihanna, Nikki Minaj, Beyonce, LMFAO, Pitbull, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga....
I cannot stand Katy Perry or Rihanna, or ANY kind of rapper. I generally do not like modern music, though I do love Lady Gaga. The bands/artists I like - Take That, Florence and the Machine, Micheal Bublé, Maroon 5, Muse - aren't really the sort to do the thumpy-waily club tunes, the tunes I generally cannot abide.
Lots of the songs I like are by bands or artists that I cannot say I am a fan of because I only like a couple of their tracks, so to some degree I agree with Clock-la. ![]()
