What do you use to scan those? I've heard of artists "scanning" their art, but
I'm not sure what they are talking about.

You have to have a scanner, which is just a machine that's like a reverse printer: you put the paper in and it makes an image file on the computer. A lot of times scanners will be built in to printers. It might be worth checking if your printer has a scan mode.

i have a scanner in my printer, i ts a HP office jet 4500 tongue

You didn't know what a scanner was? Wow, I thought almost every single printer has one built in nowadays.

If you don't have one, you could probably get close results by taking a photograph up close and sending it to your computer. Many people I know do that, despite it being very impractical. As long as you can get the reference onto your computer, that's all you really need to start creating the line art.
