Re: Skylanders post-release poll
I have 14 characters leveled up well. Every character has their pros and cons. And some characters are awesome from the start, where as some aren't as fun to play with until you get their upgrades and then they are freakin ridiculous.
Also, some characters are point and shoot, where some characters only shine through the player's ability to play the game skillfully (e.g. Stealth Elf's stealth clone and sneak attack)

River, are you planning on making custom ponified Skylanders figures?
Yo, Spyro
I'm really happy for you, but Jazz Jackrabbit is one of the best platformers of all time.

Re: Skylanders post-release poll
Okay, so I got both the Wii and 3DS versions, I have 10 Skylanders, and I've gottta say I love this game. It probably helps that I've got a large family and we've been doing 2-player and battle areana and whatnot.
I managed to take advantage of some "spend $100 get a free Skylander and buy 2 get 3rd free" deals from having a membership with TRU to get one free toy and the legendary pack, so I haven't spend much as much money as I'd initially feared.
The gameplay is solid. I wish the Wii version had had some platforming in it, but it makes up for it by having the "switch characters at any time" feature that the 3DS lacks.
The 3DS, meanwhile, is average. The levels were good, but they were somewhat redundant, the story was nonexistent, and switching Skylanders was a little tedious (also as I played both versions simultaniously I leveled up my Skylanders WAY too quickly). It should've had more NPCs and creative gameplay like the Wii version, so it was a trade-off.
The art and the mood of Skylanders is definitely reminisent of Classic Spyro, and while it's not as good as the originals I think it's still MUCH more faithful to the spirit of classic Spyro than Legend of Spyro ever was.
Course, the main selling point to me was Zi- I mean, Kaos (and Flynn to an extent). The humor was great and very "Spyro-esque."
I will be buying an Adventue Pack or two for Christmas so I'll have more levels to play, and since my little sister also loves the game I'm sure she'll be buying more characters.
Lastly, to the people who call the toys a "money-making scheme," I just want to say:
1. I also collect Yugioh cards, which are pieces of cardboard that don't interact with video games at all.
2. Downloadable Content: The Skylanders Toys for Grown-Ups

Why not save your Money for a rainy day? better than waiting it on a game you'd never be aloud to finish 100%,unless you spend more and more and more money.

Re: Skylanders post-release poll
Eh, some people don't mind spending money. I wouldn't spend it on this, but if they enjoy it and they're willing to, what's wrong with that?

Re: Skylanders post-release poll
Pony derails notwithstanding, this thread does have a topic.
For people who still don't like it/aren't planning to buy it, are you surprised about the generally positive reception? I'm surprised it's getting all the attention it is; I thought maybe a few kids would see a few commercials and go out and buy a few of the things, but I've heard stories of adults who aren't even in the Spyro fandom buying them and loving it.

Re: Skylanders post-release poll
Look up some reviews if you don't believe me. Almost all the ones I've seen have been positive.

Re: Skylanders post-release poll
If you really want to keep arguing this, I challenge you to find more than three professional negative reviews of the game to counteract the positive ones (I have yet to see a negative review that wasn't written by a fantard). Then I might believe you all that "everyone hates it" or whatever you're trying to say.
Wow, I didn't expect I'd ever be arguing this side. I don't even want to play the game. o.O

Re: Skylanders post-release poll
It tells me that you asked for a review, and it was supplied. Instead of trying to pull a really stupid "Oh they're wrong on some of my favourite games so they must always be wrong, therefore Skylanders is bad" argument, why not just stick to reviewers who aren't terrible? I think this solution contains a much lower factor of ridiculous and idiotic. And this is good.
I am compelled to explain my arguments using such stale and flat terms. Now, considering my more flamboyant and dramatic use of vocabulary, what does that tell you about your posts?
