flying is great. but i'll agree with you that they're not that great, pilots are all posers. REAL fliers use their *bleep*ing wings. like me!

Ditzy Doo was a background character who obtained grate soocsess in the fandom because of an animation error that made her eyes derpy. Thus, fanon dubbed her "Derpy Hooves", and it was a good day.

Since then, Lauren Faust did a "sure, why not" on the name, so it could become canon.
