Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Latias fan wrote:KingLambda wrote:Latias fan, just so you know, the first episodes are pretty unexciting compared to the rest of the series, everything you're mentioning is from those two episodes. Those episodes were the pilot, they served the sole purpose of selling the show, all the following episodes are when the characters become more interesting.
As for being put off from enjoying the show by the physics of it... what kind of cartoons did you watch as a kid? I know mine didn't even bother with things like that.
Don Bluth movies. It was serious, It was dark and it had good stories and characters and guess what. Physics apply(Well maybe not Titan A.E
▼Hidden textand Secret of N.I.M.H and Anastasia had magic involved but still). Other than that remember old cartoon network? Yea i watched a lot of that.
First of all, I've already mentioned how this is not a serious cartoon like Don Bluth cartoons are. As for the Cartoon Network cartoons, those weren't very loyal to the laws of physics if I remember correctly, but that didn't stop you from watching them. I really don't see why physics has anything to do with enjoying a cartoon...
Look let's just drop this alright. I've pretty much already lost interest in the show. If there's one thing that InFamous has taught me it's that if something doesn't captivate you right at the beginning then you'll likely never get into it at all. If what you say is true and that the show gets better if you watch more episodes of it then the show is simply not good. I shouldn't have to waste a couple of hours till something actually gets good. It should keep me interested in it right at the beginning.
I wanted to enjoy this show i really did. But there was just so many things left unexplained and it was just really hard for me to get into. The only interesting characters in the show are Kaede and Fluttershy that's it. The rest of the characters are either too annoying(Pinkie Pie) or too uninteresting(Applejack) for me to care. How did this garbage even get such a giant fan following anyway? I've never seen a more insidious fandom before in my life since furries, The Tales of fandom, The Final Fantasy fandom, and the Kingdom Hearts fandom.

Clock la's been demonized for trolling so much already; she's just trying to point out that she isn't the only one. From what I've read, you seemed to be either extremely picky or trolling. I was inclined to say trolling, but maybe you just like srs bsns cartoons or something. If so, please don't watch modern Cartoon Network shows. From the little I've seen of them, they seem absolutely awful. (and on a less important note, unrealistic)
Anyways, I'm not even sure if I've posted here yet. I tried watching 2 episodes. I thought the show was alright, but not interesting enough for me to keep watching more. Maybe I'm just not enough of a man (as Price-dari so kindly put it =P) to watch a show about pretty ponies. Or I might just not like it, or I haven't given it enough of a chance, or blah blah blah.
I don't hate the show, but I can understand the hate. I've been legitimately annoyed when Stormy and my little sister reference ponies a lot, and it seems to be everywhere on the internet. Mostly I just try to ignore it.

Minecraft didn't captivate me for the first hour or two I put into playing it. But

The internet has been infected. Well, more like "ponyfied." Fortunately, the
Battlefield modding forum that I am a part of doesn't even have a single
word that relates to MLP. Hmm ... MLP and bullets don't go together so well.

Yeah, to be honest almost every single one of my biggest interests started this way. The only time recently I've really become hooked on something immediately after experiencing it for the first time was Firefly, but hey, I love sci-fi and westerns, so combining them appropriately means it has to be awesome. I like some things right off the bat, but most of time it just grows on me. MLP was one of those things. First couple episodes I didn't think it was all that special, but I was interested enough to watch the third episode. After that I was starting to get into it, enough to keep watching at least, but it wasn't much longer before I was hooked.

Breaking news, everyone! Things that improve over time are necessarily of poor quality! The entire wine industry has gone bust overnight, with the spirits trade following suit at an alarming pace. Every form of media must now start with a tension-filled scene with guns and Russian spies everywhere. And Buffy the Vampire Slayer is now officially terrible.
No, but seriously, why you be hating on Rarity? She gets so much hate from her early episodes just because her vanity stands out more than the flaws of the other characters (except Fluttershy's timidity, which is played for cute points). She turns out to be probably the most caring of the six. Miss Rarity is indeed, best pony.
Finally, for your viewing pleasure, mine countenance whereapon most of Latias' complaints are about physics:
It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living.

Like i said it should be interesting right from the get go. I shouldn't have to waste hours till something gets really good. Take for example Shadow of the Colossus for example. Wanders girlfriend dies so what does he do? Makes a pact with a god to kill 16 colssi that roam the forbidden land. I feel interested on how this works out so I keep playing. Or Mother 3 when
I want to see how Flint copes with it so i keep playing.
It's not really Rarity whos annoying it's her voice actor good god i hate her accent.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
So you are blaming the show for your own lack of patience? Your case of ADD doesn't define quality in media, you know. Some people out there are capable of watching an hour or two of something before judging it.

Huh. That's pretty rough, actually, Latias. You're going to miss out on a lot. Tough break on that one, I guess.
A deviant? You know, I've never seen myself as a deviant. A bit on the drunk side of the human mental spectrum, maybe, but not a deviant. Or is your point that nobody is an average, and by that measure, absolutely everyone is a deviant?

I don't really have ADD. I just have a very expectations for these things. The show didn't meet them so i don't like it. I'm afraid it really is just that simple.
And me as a Deviant....Yea i can see that. This research has been bringing me to the brink of insanity.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
I think this show is very comparable to the earlier works of Spongebob.
Not going to delve much further than that, but I hope you understand my point.
Now can someone make a troll face in MLP theme?

Many people liked Spongebob, but many disliked the show completely at the time. It was also designed for a hugely different audience than for what it ended up appealing to.
