Re: General Discussion 5
I got a stretchy rubber dragon thing from Toys-R-Us earlier this week. He
looks a lot like Draco. He's a reddish color with some black areas on him.
The length is about ... 7-8 inches.
Giggity.

Re: General Discussion 5
So after an entire day of driving, we (my family and I ) made it to a hotel to rest so we can finish the drive tomorrow. I turn on my laptop and walk away from it for a bit only to find that it had turned off. That was kind of weird, so I try turning it back on again. There's an error message. I try to load the last good configuration. It starts trying to boot... and then shuts off again. It continues shutting off every time I turn it back on and try to boot.
I started looking for some solutions and found something interesting. Apparently this has happened to people who had their computers on and plugged in and suddenly lost power. I tried unplugging it from the hotel outlet and was able to succesfully start it in safe mode. I'm currently running a scan on it in case I have some evil virus.
So, people who know about computers, I ask you. Does this make any sense at all? I don't see how a problem like that could have been fixed simply by unplugging it. Seems to me that a problem with an outlet would have completely different effects than what happened with my laptop.

That's really odd, I've never heard of anything like that. I wish I could help, I'll do some researching too and if I find anything let you know.

Re: General Discussion 5
Stormy, you might want to scan your harddrives on another computer if you think it could be a virus. There are tons of viruses now that hide themselves in the structure of the operating system, so they go undetected. Scan it now and it might say it's safe, but scanning it on a different computer might show a different story.

Re: General Discussion 5
1. scan your computer now
2. switch to Firefox if you haven't already
3. get NoScript
4. "Allow" any websites you know you trust, like this one. (in special cases like YouTube or Facebook, you would have to allow other domains like "ytimg" or "fbcdn" or something like that.)
5. never have problems again.

Re: General Discussion 5
This reminds me: I have an issue, most likely something having to do with
webpage scripting or some kind of link issue.
Here is what is happening:
- When I watch a YouTube video and want to Favorite it, the little drop-down
arrow button does nothing.
- When I select my YouTube video[s] to delete, the drop-down arrow [that
has the Delete option] will do nothing.
- The "Login" link at ImageShack will do nothing, no matter which Login button
there I click on.
- This video [Link] will not show any visuals, it only has sound. The background
is a solid navy blue color that the webpage has.
Do any of you have an idea what's going on? I have no viruses, and I've
checked to see if scripting is enabled.

I don't think it's a virus because I've had no problems since then. But I've never heard of scanning my hard drive on another computer; how does that work?
Swaffy, I probably won't be much help, but I can try. You're using IE, correct? What version is it and have you been updating recently? Have you tried another browser to see if it will work there?

Re: General Discussion 5
Scanning with a second computer is basically using the drive as an external harddrive on the other computer, and shows up with its own drive letter. You can also scan flashdrives and SD cards the same way.

Re: General Discussion 5
IE9. IE has never messed up on me before. It was working just fine, then
decided to have those issues one day. I just don't get it. Is it JavaScript?
Adobe Flashplayer?
I'd Google it, but I don't know what to Google.

Re: General Discussion 5
Bumping this to say I finally got another interview! It's only a tiny jewelry store in the mall, so I probably won't get too many hours, but I'm hoping the small size will mean less applicants and more of a chance for me to get in.
Also, the air conditioning at my house is broken and it's really hot. D:

I got a job cleaning industrial robots for re-sale. They are mostly Fanuc brand robots, which seem very low-tech after working around them for a few weeks.

Well it's complicated for me you see. You see I'm not exactly the biggest fan of Zelda out there.
Well, if you want to know what the fuss is about, get Ocarina of Time. Doesn't really matter which one. It could be the N64 version, Master Quest version, Wii-ware version, or 3DS version.
EDIT: So, I'd like to share with you guys something else I did last weekend.
Some context:
I am a pretty big fan of Battlefield, but I didn't own 2142. I was going to buy it on Amazon, but I couldn't find any demo for it (I prefer to play games after I play a demo). I actually found out that EA was having trouble with their Origin website's payment in certain states (One I discovered was Arizona).
So what did I do? I first found a proxy in Arizona. It was slow, but free and easy to use (I didn't need speed for what I was doing). Then I went to their online help and fabricated a story about my 'friend' wanting to buy a copy of the game to play over LAN.
Then basically, this happened:

Now, I was hoping for him to give me some sort of 10-day access or something similar until they sorted out their problems. But he gave me the serial code for the FULL GAME (which I blanked out XD). He then activated it on my Origin account after I finished a survey.
Seriously, that was epic. They literally gave me the game for free just by making a few tricks and filling out a survey.

No call back from that place. It was a Claire's store in the mall, and they wanted to interview me for management positions. When I told them I could only stay until the end of August because I have to move away again for college, they changed the interview to be for a sales associate position. I'm not really sure if they were actually hiring for that position or if they just made it up so they wouldn't have to send me away.
I got another interview since then with Kohl's. I don't expect them to call until the end of this week. It was a "group" interview with two interviewers and one other applicant, a middle aged lady who had been at her previous job for 19 years. That interview seemed kind of promising because I told them right away I only had six weeks left but I could come back for Christmas break. After the interview they had us stay and do some paper work and asked me when my break would be. I don't think they would have asked if they weren't considering me at all.
