Oh, man, Jacques, please share pictures when that costume is done! XD
I thought Arizona was mostly desert? That could be why fireworks are allowed. The problem in Colorado is that there's so much forest and there are so many towns built in or near forests that if one catches fire, half the state catches fire with it.
One year, the fires were so bad that, in the capital city of Denver, there was a constant haze of brown smoke in the city that lasted for days. Every time you went out, it was like walking through a crowd of smokers and everything was sort of blurred in the smoke-fog. It was rather scary.
Also, Colorado's economy relies heavily on tourism and, in the summer, a lot of people come to see the national parks. So, when the parks are on fire, it sort of ruins things for everyone that year. ![]()
