iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS?

My parents are giving me a choice between an iPhone 4 or 3GS.  But I'm having some trouble deciding which too go for.  I really like the design of the 3GS, but the iPhone 4 is to round and like a brick.  The 3GS has a 3 MP , but the iPhone 4 has a 5 MP,  the iPhone 4 has a front camera and face timing.  The 3GS has no signal issue, as the iPhone 4 does.  The iPhone 4 has a retina display, while the 3GS doesn't.  I don't know, I don't think I care about the retina display as much.  At&t has a 16gb 3gs for $149 while the iPhone 4 has it at $199.  Is it worth the $50?  Is the 3gs better?  Does anybody have either of the phones?  I'm having a tug-a-war game going in my head. Please?  >.>

Re: iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS?

You could always get the iPhone 4 and then sell it online, you could get a few extra bucks then and buy a 3GS and keep some spending money for yourself. There are lots of people looking to buy them without signing an at&t contract so you could make a decent amount of money. Or get the iPhone 4 and sell it and get a different phone... depends what you like.

Re: iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS?

You will find that the 3GS won't be supported fully software-wise within the year. They did that with the old iPhone and the 3G, and the next one in line is the 3GS.

I suggest that you get the iPhone 4, and get the free bumper that goes with it too. A few people have some sort of antennae issue when covering the black strip.

This is not a debate on which phone YOU need.  I don't care, you can get any phone that fits you, but I'm getting an iPhone.

Re: iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS?

Forget that crap ... I have a phone. Not a portable "stupid computer" like
modern phones that will break if you drop them on a carpet floor. I have a
Sony Ericcson Z500, which you can slam against solid cement, and get a
simple scratch. You can drop it out of your car going 40 down the road,
have it bounce around for a while, and it'll be just fine with a few
scratches. I got it 4 or 5 years ago.

My phone is a real phone. One that is meant for actually talking into and
maybe texting. I have no need for a mobile phone other than talking.
People tell me that they get a phone every two weeks on average
[sometimes even one week] for reasons such as their phone breaking.

Older phones rock. They are much tougher. And because I have AT&T, I get
full bars everywhere I go, even into the depths of a valley miles away
from the nearest city [Which I've done before]. And rarely, it could get
three bars ...

Didn't Clock-La just say that the OP was talking about the 3GS or iP4? NOT any other phone?

Look, I don't know what kind of butterfingered people you talk to, but I don't think this was a debate about old phones vs. improved phones. I think it was more of a debate on the 3GS vs. iP4.

Re: iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS?

If you're not worried about the front camera and the smaller pixels, just get a 3GS and get the OS4 software update. This way you have the design of the 3GS and still have the multitasking capabilities and the "folders" for apps. But if it's the better hardware you're worried about, then go for the iPhone 4.

Re: iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS?

I don't like lugging around bricks and I like signal dependability. But to be honest, I don't like iphones anyways. Why?

Right, I'm pretty sure both of the last two users to post in this have been spambots. Trying to be clever by copying parts of different posts this time, I see. -__-
