Tron 1982 and Legacy
Anyone else see one of the movies? I don't want this to be an old vs new thread because the two are both cutting edge for their respective time periods, and the stories are pretty good.

Re: Tron 1982 and Legacy
I've only seen bits of the original but as far as I can tell it's either you hate it or you love it, for both films. If you're a special effects junky then you'll love it because as far as I here it's all about effects and a weak story...but that's just what I hear.

I never saw the old Tron movie. But I saw the new one, and I think it was interesting.

Re: Tron 1982 and Legacy
I saw Tron Legacy and I can't help believing that the makers were so tied up in the special effects (which were utterly amazing) so they didn't think of a proper story. I thought it a bit dull and pointless and it definatly let me down. I was expecting much more of a story than guy who goes into a computor and then has to get out of a computor. The characters were a bit dull and once again there was another film containing a female character who doesn't need to be there. No, apart from the special effects and the music, I didn't like it. Plus, they stole light sabers. XD
But that's only my opinion. ![]()

I'd have to see it again to understand it fully. I suppose it's better than a lot of films I've seen, but compared to things like Avatar and Inception and Toy Story 3, I don't think it's very special at all. ![]()

Re: Tron 1982 and Legacy
I HATED,HATED Tron Legacy the plot is full of holes and they cram to much into special effects. If you actually like Tron Legacy you are easily amused and your expactations are too low
The plot is great and the point of watching the movie is for the special effects anyway. If you didn't like Tron: Legacy, you aren't able to analyze stories and you like Twilight.
See that? I can convict people too. that Twilight part is a joke, or it's intended to be one.
I honestly think C. S. Lewis would have enjoyed it, and that's saying something.

I am an easily amused person. Someone could yell "Pudding" in a mall
that I'm roaming around in and I would begin laughing.
Jazzy J: I hate Twilight, but I still liked Tron Legacy. The story made great
sense to me, and I enjoyed the storyline. The movie wasn't about special
effects. It had great graphics, but I didn't see a whole lot of special effects.

Re: Tron 1982 and Legacy
Is there really a problem with liking Avatar and HTTYD, or are you just having problems excepting others taste in movies Latias Fan?
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I really love the soundtrack. Daft Punk did a great job on it in my honest opinion.

Tron (1982) had everything -- at the time anyway. It was a forerunner in CGI technology, and actually had a very coherent and original storyline. Its weakness has always been dialogue, and the lack of development for its main characters. But, like RDX said, if you came to drool about the special effects, Tron: Legacy was a runaway success. If only it could balance its awe-inspiring visuals with equally admirable plot. ![]()

I have not seen the original one but I just watched Tron legacy.Like the original, Tron: Legacy obsesses over technology and style, but forget the important details that character and plot.I am not amazed by this movie.

Re: Tron 1982 and Legacy
The story may be very simple, but it (the new one) has a deep meaning (not the cliche' "change the world" thing, but it expresses the fact that perfection is impossible.)
