Winter solstice lunar eclipse
Tonight is the winter solstice lunar eclipse - probably past now for most of you reading this. This lunar eclipse is visible all over the Northern Hemisphere. Did anyone else see the eclipse?
My location just happened to have clear skies, so I was lucky to take some shots of this. The last time a lunar eclipse occurred on the winter solstice (dec 21) was back in 1638. In other words, this is rare. Here are some of the pics I've took during this period.
All times are GMT (mountain time or -7:00).
moon shines brightly at 5:46pm; night lens enhances the shot
moon halo at 11:28pm; night lens enhances the shot
eclipse beginning to show its effect at 12:04am
eclipse well underway at 12:45am; moon turns rusty orange-red; night lens enhances the shot; slight blurriness though
eclipse at its maxima at 1:27am; moon is a darker red color; night lens enhances the shot

It was cloudy in Dallas
Strange, since Texas was one of the few clear spots in the states yesterday night, according to some of the cloud distribution maps I've seen.

I stayed up til 1:10 am to watch it, but I was very sleppy and it was cloudy. There would be a front moving in while we're having an eclipse.
