But really, many bills that are passed are decided unenforceable. I don't think they will take down fansites.

I'll be honest I didn't read the whole thing there, but I got the most of it smile

I know that DevientART and Fanfiction.net have their !@# covered pretty well. Fact is that you have to sign off that you have permission from the author of each fanfiction and or art work that you post, so in the end they'd only have it become something like downloading music illegaly, which we've seem how much that's effected the net.... not at all.

As far as this site goes... I don't know..

"Coming" is spelled with one "m", and offenses has an "s", not a "c" after the "n". I have reported you to the spelling police. The consequences will never be the same. (just kidding, I didn't)

i'm concerned about this, though. i don't care how much they haven't enforced other things; they have enforced other things before; the threat is real. people are so obsessed with copyright infringement these days, they don't know when to stop caring. sheesh, if somebody uses a song for some video on YouTube, what does it matter?! be glad that somebody cares enough to use your wretched music in it and is willing to help publicize it! somebody uses your character in fan fiction, so what?! again, it helps with publicity and somebody cares enough to use your storybook characters!

now it's gotten to the point that this act was passed, and i'm really concerned about where this world is headed. apparently fan forums are the new 9/11 for the US government [which doesn't know when to shut its big, fat mouth, by the way]. don't we have more important matters in this world than people using other people's art, ESPECIALLY WHEN CREDIT IS BEING GIVEN?! what about the poor? or the people in wars? the civilians in warzones? the hungry? the sick? how about pollution? crime?

Alright, I'm growing tired of this nonsense. A topic that I started to try and let the users here, especially Spyrorocks and the moderators, know about a bill that has a possibility of affecting us. And yet, Clock-La, you, riverhippo and JazzJackRabbit have turned this topic into one of mindless spam, trolling and flaming. You deny the possibility of the bill having an effect on us. Just because Congress has not enforced other bills/laws, that does not guarantee that this also would not be enforced. What if this turned out to be the one that the U.S. government actually enforced, hmm? There's always that possibility.

You know, I guess it's true what they say: "the road to hell is paved with good intentions." I try to do something that I believe might help the forum, and yet it turns into another topic filled with nonsensical posts.

Those who deny that such a bill can possibly be passed, such as you Clock-La, are obviously in denial, or are just plain narrow-minded or, even, apathetic.

I'm asking Rurik to delete this thread entirely. I'd rather not have this festering pit of mindless garbage known loosely as a "thread" within the pages of SpyroForum's General Chat.

I couldn't access this site for a while. I was worried it was shut down.
Even if it is passed, it's probably to shut down rom sharing sites and pirate sites. It's unconstitutional to ban unofficial fan clubs.
