Re: Art
Thank you!
It's a long-time habit. I've been drawing for over twenty years now.

Re: Art
Thanks, Afronova!
Do you have any art posted on-line? I'd love to see your work!
One of the things I found that helps me draw is to use cheap materials. It keeps me from worrying about "ruining" good paper with crappy doodles or drawing something really great on crappy paper. I use copy paper (the kind that goes in your printer), mechanical pencils, Sharpie markers, and Bic pens to draw with. You can get everything I use to draw (including the clipboard) for under $20 at Wal*Mart.
I do most of my work with Bic pens. Drawing in pen gets you to learn to work with or ignore your mistakes and is a really great way to practice. And I draw almost constantly. Since I can't really see the tv and listening to it is good enough for me, I often just put on a DVD or some music and draw. I used to draw in school, too (not recommended if you want good grades
); I'd draw in the margins of my notes, practicing drawing eyes or hands or whatever was on my mind. I think that's mostly how I designed Anubis for my webcomic. ![]()

Re: Art
Yeah I do.
This is me.
http://trainerspyro.deviantart.com/
sheesh we have a lot in common when it comes to drawing accept quality. You ace me on that. I love drawing with pens, markers, colored pencils, crayons... I will occasionally use pastels or the computer. but I prefer pencils and pens. As for cheap materials I normally just draw in notebooks. Or on my bedroom floor now that the carpet is gone. I have doodles all over my walls and in closets and all over my brothers room. I should take a picture of the Feraligator I just drew on my floor last week. it's pretty good.
It's a shame there are lines in notebooks. It really lowers the quality of a picture for me. Oh yeah, I still draw all over my schoolwork. you should see my math papers. there are more pictures on them than there is math. ![]()

Re: Art
Aha! So it was you who created the Spyropillar! XD And kudos for taking a shot at drawing a human Cynder; that one was neat. Your coloring is so much better than mine. ^_^ S'what I get for being too lazy to color most of the time. ![]()
I'm telling you, having a clipboard with printer paper on hand at all times is the best thing I ever did for myself.
Hee, I was the same way with my math papers. It was the only way I could de-stress (because I'm really bad at math). I had a teacher once who even let me draw after every assignment I finished in the book so I could calm myself down. I think he got a kick out of the crazy stuff I'd turn in on my papers and I got more math done in that class than anywhere else (it also helped that he worked one-on-one with me and explained some of the stuff I had the hardest time with).

Re: Art
Ha! Your lazy? I'm the lazy one. LOL. I've always been bad at math. I didn't have a teacher to work one on one with me until ninth grade and even then I was bad at it. :-P I don't have a printer I have a scanner but that's about it. I don't even have internet at home and the only computer I have doesn't have a motem. Oh well it lets me paint and that's all I really wanted anyway.
And you color just fine. i've seen your colored work. it's great. the shading and color combinations are way better than what I can come up with.
Oh and the spyropillar wasn't really my idea. It was actually sootpelts. She came up with it to impress me and her version was kinda scary so I made my own. :-P

Re: Art
I didn't trace it. I looked at the Ember from that deviation, got her basic shape, finished drawing her, then put her in a different scene. There is nothing about that that means I stole it. My friend Ashliegh showed me how to capture something's basic shape. Plus I know, I suck at backgrounds, I usually don't make one, but Ember in that pose with no background wouldn't look right.

I love my staffies!

Re: Art
SpyroFlame', you're going to need to provide proof if you're making an accusation like that. Do you have a link to the image SpyroGirl is supposed to have copied?

Here it is.
http://orceh.deviantart.com/art/Spyro-a … l-50287522
See, I didn't copy it, I got the basic shape of Ember, made some changes to her, and added a sucky background. It is perfectly allowed.

I love my staffies!

Re: Art
Nope, not a trace or a copy. Now that you've got a good grasp on Ember, SpyroGirl, you ought to try drawing her in your own pose. ![]()
