Disregarding the gem situation, I'd vote for Ripto. Malefor is crap when it
comes to hand-to-hand fighting. Ripto ... well, he's got more of a chance
of winning a fight. Malefor might just fly in clrcles as a defence.

[Edit] I got Ripto mixed up with Red. I'd vote for Malefor instead.

Malefor because he has got way more power and defense than Ripto
will ever have, besides Ripto is old news to Spyro. He was easy for Spyro to
take out but Malefor was harder than him but then again it is different for
everybody, but I still choose Malefor

I'm more of a fan of the original series, so I like Ripto more. However, Malefor is kinda awesome, and he seems more powerful. So yeah, I would go with Ripto.

2. Ripto can shoot fireballs, Malefor can shoot meteors.
3. Ripto's most powerful henchman is a small dinosaur, Malefor's most powerful henchman belongs in Shadow of the Colossus.
4. Ripto has one stubby horn, Malefor can impale 8 people on his.

And finally? Here is a comparison between Ripto and Malefor:

Ripto could last about 2.5 seconds if he is lucky, not to mention Ripto has been constantly beaten by dragons before he even met Spyro...
