Back to school?
Well, here in America summer is officially over (the vacation, not the season :-P ) and now it's time for another long year of school.
So how are you guys doing with school? What classes are you taking this year? These are mine:
PE II
PLTW: Digital Electronics
Advanced Algebra II
Spanish II
Accelerated Biology
Accelerated English 10
Accelerated Western Civilization
Second Year Integration (study hall)
Next semester I just trade PE II with Civics, but other then that my year stays the same...
So anything interesting with you guys this year? We needed another open thread for activity, so I thought I might as well bring something up a few people will be able to talk about...

Re: Back to school?
Because I graduated high school, I will be going to college. [Called SAC -
San Antonio College.] Unfortunately for me, I did two things wrong that
caused them to not accept my application. First, I turned it in too late, and
the second is that I didn't send them my transcript.
I will be working until next semester. I'm going to try to get a job at Radio
Shack. Of not RS, then I'll try UPS or Best Buy.

Re: Back to school?
I go to a vocational school (which is a school and a job all in one)
I'm a high school junior (year 11) here in the U.S.
These are my classes:
half of the day is my job, I'm an auto mechanic.
And the other half:
Physics
Geometry
English 11
Study Hall

Re: Back to school?
That's actually pretty cool. I figure you plan on becoming an auto
mechanic as a major?

Re: Back to school?
yes, I was thinking about fixing vehicles.
It is pretty cool, the only bad thing, I don't get paid :'( , but I get experience (it's mostly for training), like at a job, they ask you "Do you have any experience?" and you do, so your hired.

Re: Back to school?
Kids need to get paid to go to school. It sucks being forced to go to some
jail-like place for 8+ hours just to learn. It's like a forced job.

Re: Back to school?
I have 7 classes (because I'm a senior, I have one less class than the underclassmen.) 3 of those are math classes (AP Statistics, physics, and AP Calculus)

jail is better than school in some ways; in both ways, you probably don't like most of the people there, and you do forced work that will amount to nothing. mind you elementary-middle will amount to something, but high school work just teaches you things you probably won't use.
but in jail, you live off taxpayers, whereas in school, you actually have to PAY for lunch and things unless you're lower middle-class. if i'm forced to go there, i should at least be paid.

Re: Back to school?
I think it would be cool to be paid to go to school, but only for students who get good grades.
Of course, it will never happen, and I don't think I would want it to happen. That would be a pretty huge amount of cash from taxpayers to pay people to go to school.
I personally started to like school since high-school started. It gives you more freedom to do what you want during school hours, rather then being grouped together with the same kids for 6-7 hours straight...

Re: Back to school?
I found that private Christian schools are less violent and more peaceful.
That is ... if you don't go to a private school where the guys act gay.
Thank God my school wasn't like that. At least for my Junior and Senior
years. Before that ... let's just say I stayed away from most of everybody.

Re: Back to school?
G-Man_93, I agree. But think of it this way: if rock and metal were to
become the most popular music type, there's be a lot of stupid people out
there making rock and metal music just to make money. In other words, it
would turn into crap music.

Re: Back to school?
rock/metal is about as famous as pop/rap, to be honest. it's just that pop/rap fans are more pronounced, loud, and brightly displayed.
a lot of rock/metal fans tend to be more quiet and introverted, where pop/rap fans [tend to] be loud, happy, outgoing cheerleader types.
there are exceptions, but these are based on what i've seen/heard.

Re: Back to school?
Well, regarding what I see on those television shows, and the front page of
music websites. Sometimes I see a rock/metal band. And on Napster, I'm
happy to see some Christian bands being put on the front page. Thank God.

Re: Back to school?
swaffy I still don't understand why you're so hell bent on "christian bands" being popular, they are and over half the bands/artists that are famous out there probably ARE christians and just don't make a big deal out of it
look at anberlin and skillet, both famous christian bands.
katy perry is a faithful christian and talks about it in Rolling Stone this month or last month
lots of musicians are christians and you probably don't even realize it

Re: Back to school?
I do, but I am just glad to see them stepping forth. I know of bands [some
in whom I personally know] who are afraid to let the world know that
they're Christians. But let's drop this subject before somebody begins an
arguement. I don't want to be the cause of yet another one ...
