Old-Skool vs Combat-Spyro
Well... vote for it please. In the Old-Skool Spyro... I mean the original trilogy, not ETD or AHT.
But don't flame or start trolling. Thanks.

Re: Old-Skool vs Combat-Spyro
This poll doesn't make any sense, because there is only one true Spyro, and that is the origonal trilogy! I don't care what anyone says, because what I say is right! This ugly, big-nosed, crooked-mouthed, purple monster
looks nothing like this cute little purple dragon!

I love my staffies!

Re: Old-Skool vs Combat-Spyro
Spyrogirl speaks the truth!
But the more I see the "new" Spyro, the more I start to like it.. Bleh what am I saying.
As long as he's Spyro, I'll stick with him.

Re: Old-Skool vs Combat-Spyro
I'm kind of liking the "Combat Spyro" a bit more than the "Old School Spyro." He looks pretty good in my opinion (a bit better), and seeing Spyro show more aggression and using furies, hehe...awesome.
But the Old School is still good too. I'm just more used to the Combat Spyro than the Old School (Played the first three after playing A New Beginning)

Re: Old-Skool vs Combat-Spyro
What I like about 'old school' combat is that in the older Spyro's they didn't try to make combat so stylized and bad-*bleep*ed. Doing that takes away from it.

Re: Old-Skool vs Combat-Spyro
Old school Spyro's the best IMO. To me they just took away the element of Spyro away from the games by adding all these dark, mysterious plots and combat
Spyro. The best platformer game in the universe, ever!

I like the "new" Spyro much better. In my opinion, beating the stuffing out of hundreds of enemies is better than collecting things.

I like them both the same I mean part of the reason I like the series is because it is the only game you can play as a dragon

Re: Old-Skool vs Combat-Spyro
I enjoy New Spyro compared to old Spyro, New Spyro has a feelin of Heriosim that I never got from ond never gave me.
Worst case Senerio for old Spyro, no new dragon eggs, boo hoo
Worst case senireo for new Spyro, the entier dragon race wiped out and some "Dark Master" running the show, that's something to worry about.
I enjoyed colecting things, for about the first 5 hours, then it became redundent, wile Fighting Spyro diddnt last five hours [all's well that end's well]
And the look I can get over, this funky nosed thingy is starting to rub off on me, but I still thing Old Spyro takes the cake as far as looks go... but New Spyro gets my vote

Re: Old-Skool vs Combat-Spyro
I like both designs of spyro, but I like the newer (combat-style) spyro better because the combat-style spyro is expanding his potential with more breaths, physical and elemental melee combo attacks, fury attacks, and hidden power (dragon time). I like spyro no matter what; if he's old-school or combat-style. It's just the newer combat-style spyro is more enjoyable and fun because it takes a longer time for the newer spyro to get boring due to his numerous choice of attacks.
He may be small, but his heart is larger than life.

Re: Old-Skool vs Combat-Spyro
Everyone makes very valid points... Personally, I like both simply because the new Spyro is what the old one would have become had the storyline continued...
They just didn't know how to make Spyro more action-oriented so they decided to do the reboot instead of trying to redefine the original Spyro.

Re: Old-Skool vs Combat-Spyro
The new Spyro is uglier than a horse's @$$. Old-Skool Spyro has my vote! They should've left the characters and thier designs alone, not to mention that I draw the line at the Earth Breath powers. C'mon, he's belching out rocks and things like that that should never come out of his mouth. Ice and Electric are fine because those are believable Elemental Attacks. Earth Breath = Do Not Want. Melee is okay I geuss but they should get rid of those explosive finishing moves because everytime I see those moves they make me think that I'm playing another stupid Dragon Ball Z game where they do nothing but shout, start glowing, then KABOOM.
Bubble Breath from ETD could be improved on though. Spyro could just act as if Bubble Breath was another Fireball Powerup, but instead of blasting things, it could be used as a capture net/cage/bubble for elusive fodder, thieves, and various collectables. Therefore, Bubble Breath = Do Want, But Only If It Was Modified.
Now, perhaps they could change the Earth Breath into say Earth Spike or something. For ex., the Earth Attack could maybe cause a giant stone horn to appear on Spyro's head and allow him to break walls, shoot spikes from it, or even make a boulder for him to stand on appear. But really, I'm sure they could do better than Earth Breath.
If they had a Wind Elemental ability for Spyro, I would definitely support it because it could only mean these possible things: Spyro can flap his wings to create a miniature tornado, blow enemies away, create clouds to ride on, extra hieght in jumping/gliding/flying. Think of the possibilities people!
But if everyone wants Melee Attacks they can't get too ridiculous with it, thats all I'm saying. Super Saiyan Melee-Like Attacks = Do Not Want. He's a DRAGON - not Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee! Make him use his horns to fling enemies away or kick with his back feet or something, just don't get ridiculous with the attacks is all I want.
All of us old fans are pretty *bleep*ed off at the fact that they changed the looks of Spyro & Sparx and got rid of all the others in favor for new ones. It's one of the main reasons why we feel that the original trilogy is and always will be better than the crap that they're spewing out right now. (Not to mention that the old Spyro was more easier on the eyes than his face-smashed-in looking successor)
You guys get what I'm saying? If not, meh, to heck with you.

Re: Old-Skool vs Combat-Spyro
Hey it's not like it's a curse on him or anything! Well, everyone here keeps talking about how he looks terrible and how he needs to look better and what not, well that's when I say that you need to think about something for a minute. Spyro looks more like a real dragon in Combat version! Sure, he may not look the best, but think about this picture of Saphira from Eragon....
To the picture of the current Spyro
. Spyro l;ooks more like what we beliove a real dragon would look like! Except, for the nose of course, they need to work on that! :-X

Actually, to the true (original trilogy) Spyro fans, it is a curse on him.

Re: Old-Skool vs Combat-Spyro
Hear hear, Spyras! I agree wholeheartedly on that.
To make my point in this post and my previous post, I will put in this dialogue excerpt from the first Spyro game:
Spyro: *Frees Bubba the Beast Maker*
Bubba: I tell you what to do with those creatures...smash them, Spyro! Stamp them
out and squish them and squash them, hahaha...!
Spyro: *laughs sarcastically* Hah, hah...how about we charge them and flame them? We are dragons after
all.

Re: Old-Skool vs Combat-Spyro
Alright, first of all, in my opinion, you can't be a true fan if you like one thing and despise another one! I don't like the new Spyro a whole ton either, but from the looks of things, he might stick around for a while.
And that's exactly why I called you guys stuborn. You know that he looks more like a real dragon, but you like the old fantisy Spyro more beacause he didn't have the nose issue huh? Well, they did the best they could on it, and if they make any drastic changes on his look in the niddle of the series, it just wouldn't make sense! So even if you don't like it, you need to get used to it if you want to remain a true fan.
