Untrue

if the lyrics are beautiful that can count as a beautiful song too

along with any type of melody fast or slow that blends beautifully together

It's not the sound that makes it beautiful. It's what goes into it, soul makes music beautiful.

Re: Beautiful songs

It's all about your perspective on the definition. There is no solid definition
for "beautiful music," and is based upon the person's belief system, taste
in music, lifestyle, and even mindset. Every person will have their own
definition of "beautiful music." I happen to be a Nondenominational
Christian, and mark Hillsong United as being considered "beautiful music."
Many of you would tell me that their music is *bleep*.

This is more of a "share your taste in music" thread.

Why do you think that metal is bad for people?

you just contradicted yourself you said that "beautiful music" is only slow/soft songs but now you're saying that everyone has their own definition

so you want people to think you're right but then you go and say that

make up your mind lol

I agree with Aicebo. True, a beautiful song can be a slow or soft music, but the words and the message and feeling of the song is just as inmportant, if not more important than how the music is played. A song that makes you think about things, or touches you in some way, or even just has sentimental value to you, in my opinion, is more accurate a defintion.

People sometimes slowly change their opinion to make themselves feel that they are "accepting others' opinions". Unfortunately it is very easy to spot.

I know this was originally made by Supertramp, but I feel more inspired by this remix of the song since it shows people still can take meaning from old songs (plus I like techno :-P )

Re: Beautiful songs

I like this song. It has a powerful messasge. I'll buy it on Napster and add
it to my playlist of acoustic songs [even if this has an electric solo in it].

I'm sorry, but I don't recall saying that metal is bad for people in that post
you quoted me from. But it's not my taste in music. And yes, metal music
[mostly speed metal] has caused injuries and deaths due to people's
thought processes being warped from the metal music.

Thunder storms are my favorite. I love sleeping through real thunder
storms, too. I like hearing the rain, the claps of thunder as they shake my
house, and even the lightning that flashes through my windows at night. I
like them until a really loud clap of thnder sets off the house and car alarms.

Because of my tendency to be "closed minded" towards many things in
this world, including music, I don't usually find music I like. I guess I'm
just being cautious about what I'm feeeding myself.  My sister just accepts
any music the world throws at her [like that Lady Gaga junk] and she
practically opens her heart up to that sort of music. And as Christians, it's
not a good thing to allow music like that into our lives. As for me, when it
comes to secular music, I like positive songs and some songs that are
neutral. I like Thrice [secular band], because their singer/songwriter is
Christian, and also includes some Scripture in the songs he writes [such as
Come All You Weary and Image of the Invisible]. I like Creed because a
lot of their music is positive [take My Sacrifice and Lullaby as an example].

Re: Beautiful songs

No one has ever died from their "Thought processes being warped". Which isn't even possible by just listening to metal music. If you say it is, then show me a link, because I can't seem to find anything about it...

And liking a band just because their songwriter, guitar player, or backup dancer is Catholic/Christian means that you truly aren't following the music, but the artist themselves.

Re: Beautiful songs

Indeed. It was my stubborn reaction to reading a report that talked about
a few people dying because they allowed themselves to be driven by
metal music, which was in fact separate cases over a period of time. Most
were car crashes. This is not all people [I have a problem with pointing out
if something relates to all people or just some people].

Re: Beautiful songs

swaffy why do you discriminate against musicians

just because a person isn't christian doesn't mean that they're the SPAAAAWN OF SAAAATAAAAAAN!!!! okay?

you're really limiting yourself to music, and probably missing out of bands that you could fall in love with deeply just because you care so much on whether they are christians or not

I'm not christian but I listen to a lot of christian bands and artists because I like their music, other people's beliefs don't matter to me and their personal thoughts don't matter to you or me or anyone that they don't actually know

Re: Beautiful songs

I try my best to respect all people who are both secular and Christian. If
I'm not, I'm going against the Bible, which tells me to love my neighbor
[refers to everyone] as I love my self.

I don't mind being friends with \ talking to secular people. In fact, one of
my 5 closest friends is an atheist [Secular Humanist, to be more accurate].
His name is Mason S., and we've been friends since we were 10 or 11.

That is not my case. I found that the singers of Thrice and Creed were
Christians months [years for Creed] after I became attached to their music.

Re: Beautiful songs

... Which is why I'm a total nut about Pink Floyd. And thoroughly enjoy
Stevie Ray Vaughan, Oasis, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, and even a few
Jonsi and Alex songs [these two men are homosexual humanists].
Boy 1904 is one of my more favorite Jonsi and Alex songs.

You assume I think you all are "Spawn of Satan," and that I reject
listening to secular music due to the band's belief system. That is not true.
This reaction is probably due to me pointing out two bands I like the most
and the fact that I mostly posted up Christian music. If you want me to put
up less Christian music, that's your own personal problem. This thread is
for music the member finds beautiful, and the Christian music I posted up
is music I find more beautiful than most secular music I listen to.

[hr:c4f5b2c95b]
For the sake of your sanity, here:

Shinedown - Simple Man
[Originally written by Lynyrd Skynyrd]

The day me and my best friend Jaron [my friend since he was practically
born] heard this song was the day we fell in love with the song. It's
powerful. It's our theme song not only to us as we grow to be men, but to
our friendship. We've been through a lot together. He is my brother.
"Be a simple kind of man." I can say, we're like that now. Our friendship
has lasted 16.5 years, and will continue for much longer.

[The lyrics in this video are wrong.]
