I'm a really huge fan of Dragons, but I don't believe in them or any other magical creatures.

Re: .

Yes, I believe in Dragons and magic. (Writing Dragon with a capital is part of it). To be honest, I believe way more in Dragons than in (a) god(s). Unicorns, not sure of that one...

I do believe in magic, sorcery etc, especially when I read about it, which I put in this Topic, maybe you understand what I mean. There's so much proof of that the believing in magic exists since the beginning of our species. As for Dragons, European, Asian, even Norse Mythology... even religions in Asia that honor Dragons... You know, I find it more interesting and reliable than Christianity or any other religion. I don't have a real religion anyway, at least, it feels so. Born Christian, never done anything with it again, developed my own religion wink

As for Death, I think of a re-incarnation-like end, like choosing what you want to be in your next life, and in which world, or wishing whatever you want. That's cool. So, yes, I believe pretty much in such things, but only Dragons, Hydra's, Chimera's, really.

Speaking of Dragons and mythology, have you ever heard of the Nídhöggr? It's an awesome story, really.

Re: .

I have tried a recipe in the same book. Mixing Ironheart and dried pasterille. It was said that if you let a woman eat from it, it would do whatever you wanted. Didn't work out. In fact, it was so grose that my sister spat it out in the toilet tongue

About Níðhöggr (That's how you spell it), or in English Nidhogg. It's the underworld-like Dragon from norse mythology. A bad guy it was, or wasn't it? Oh well... In the world of Norse Mythology, there are 9 worlds, which come together at one spot, there's a immense tree called Yggdrasill, the World Tree. So this tree connects the 9 worlds, but there are also creatures living within the tree. There'r some stags and an unnamed eagle, Níðhöggr and more. This underworld Wyrm was told to be evil and trapped in the roots of Yggdrasill. It would eat the dead and tried to break free by eating the roots of the World Tree. Not only he did this because he wanted it himself, but there was this squirrel, Ratatöskr, who spread words about what the eagle and Níðhöggr did, making them envy each other. Therefore Níðhöggr tried to escape to show he was better than this eagle. Though Níðhöggr failed in breaking free, you can understand that Yggdrasill had a hard time with all those inhabitants...

Níðhöggr is often compared with anything bad. There were some old Norse poems written about most inhabitants of Yggdrasill, therefore also the Níðhöggr.: (Spoilered them for post shortage)

Norse:
Sal sá hon standa
sólu fjarri
Náströndu á,
norðr horfa dyrr.
Fellu eitrdropar
inn um ljóra,
sá er undinn salr
orma hryggjum.
Sá hon þar vaða
þunga strauma
menn meinsvara
ok morðvarga
ok þanns annars glepr
eyrarúnu.
Þar saug Niðhöggr
nái framgengna,
sleit vargr vera -
vituð ér enn, eða hvat ?
Þar kømr inn dimmi
dreki fljúgandi,
naðr fránn, neðan
frá Niðafjöllum.
Berr sér í fjöðrum
- flýgr völl yfir -
Níðhöggr nái -
nú mun hon søkkvask.

See if you understand that. No? Here's the English one then:

She saw a hall standing,
far from the sun,
in Náströnd; (Meaning "Dead Body Shore")
its doors are northward turned,
venom-drops fall
in through its apertures:
entwined is that hall
with serpent’s backs.
She there saw wading
the sluggish streams
bloodthirsty men
and perjurers,
and him who the ear beguiles
of another’s wife.
There Nidhögg sucks
the corpses of the dead;
the wolf tears men.
Understand ye yet, or what?
From below the dragon
dark comes forth,
Nithhogg flying
from Nithafjoll; (meaning "Dark of the Moon Hills")
The bodies of men
on his wings he bears,
The serpent bright:
but now must I sink.

I love the story. Norse Mythology is awesome. The Nidhogg's name, btw, means "Malice Striker" or "Striker in the Dark", and is a wyrm, but also called a serpent or Dragon.

Re: .

I really wish there was a free-roaming dragon game without all that weird
magic, and none of those weird creatures like what they have in Dawn of
the Dragon. I just want to fly ... and eat things to survive. And find a mate
then possibly raise a little "dragon family." Sure, there would be conflicts
bewteen other dragon with the inclusion of a possible fight, but the game
would generally be free-roaming around a giant map.

I admit, that's my dream game.

Re: .

Same. As much as I like dragons, I have to draw the line between something I love and falling head over heels only to be deemed insane. If I believed in them, I would surpass my limitation in setting myself straight; I'd be far beyond that. I can dream, but I'm a realist to a degree.

Understandable. Never believe in something if there's no proof. Unfortunately, that's not the case for me, belief over disbelief when there's no proof. Makes your life more exciting, I suppose. (not hating your pov, just guessing.)

Religion is a very taboo subject, but I am not afraid to give my opinion on it. I am an atheist, because I feel that religion, and I mean ALL religion, is something that is just slowing down society. Countless wars and battles have fought over it, discrimination and prejudice has evolved from it, and many great minds have wasted their time trying to interpret their religion's writing in a unique way that ultimately just creates fragmented cultures between each country. There just aren't enough good causes from religion that could combat all the war and strife that it caused throughout time. That is why I took a solid vow not to discriminate anyone by what they believe in, and to never ever waste my time reading any sort of religious writing.

EDIT: Sorry, I only read the first few posts on the thread.

religion doesn't cause *bleep*, it's the psychos who take it too far. i find a great amount of comfort in my religion and use it to shape me into a better person.

i'd love to continue talking about that, and why religion is ok, but we're not allowed to discuss that according to the rules. also, it's irrelevant to the topic; it's not about religion. . . .

as for Apoc, the only people who replied who believe, are me and MrX-Link.

I realized that no one was discussing it after I already posted it. I only posted it because I saw the first few posts talk about it. I was going to edit it out, but I decided it wouldn't do any harm.

Re: .

I do not believe in dragons, nor do I see the connection to religion... =/

Dragons are creatures, therefore there would have to be evidence of their existence if they were ever real, while religion is a belief that someone or something greater than all of us shapes our lives, which cannot be proven or disproven.

Re: .

While I agree with you, Lambda, I could argue that you can't prove or disprove the existence of dragons, similarly to how you can't prove or disprove the existence of a higher power. But you could say anything exists if the only basis for your argument is that you can't prove that it doesn't.

Re: .

You can prove the existence of dragons, with a dragon. And you can just about disprove something, providing the criteria are narrow enough.

Ha!

However, I must confirm that this one was made by a smart guy who wanted to make money by making this from LATEX. It DID confuse a lot of people, making them really believe it existed. This doesn't change my point of view on the existence of Dragons, though.

I am so gonna get punished for this.........

To Neotyguy40:  based on what you just posted there, it's not that your an atheist, youre just lazy.
You cant call yourself an atheist if you havent actually done any research for yourself to make your own personal decision.  That's like saying Im a Christian only because my parents told me to be one.

To MrX-Link:  That has got to be fake.  May I see it?
