Re: Pokémon Thread (anyone who hates it stay out)

@The New Age Of Cynder: You're welcome. smile

@Trainer Spyro: Blarg, I can't even catch the surfing Pikachu, even when I had over 20,000 steps. I gave up. >.>

@Everyone else: OK, so I was thinking about starting a Pokemon tournament kind of thing with other members of this forum since a lot of people here seem to like Pokemon and have the DS games. I was about to make the thread yesterday, but I didn't know if enough people would be interested. Thoughts?

I'm for it. It might just be a little difficult to find a time when the battles can work with everyone's schedules and different timezones, but if you can pull it off, great. Hopefully more people will like the idea.

I kind of have mixed thoughts about the Pokewalker. It's pretty cool that you can get items and Pokemon from it, but the rare ones are nearly impossible to catch. (Not to mention my incredible luck when using the dowsing thing. roll ) I wish I would have remembered the Pikachu event...it just ended on May 5.

Re: Pokémon Thread (anyone who hates it stay out)

I think it would be a great idea, holding it on a weekend would probably be the best option for people busy during the week.
I'd love to join, but I don't have WiFi anymores. D:

I'd love to join! But i'll have to train a little more. tongue
It might be a little hard to organize things when we are all scattered all over the world big_smile

Edit: I can only play Pearl since i don't actually have HG/SS yet. I'm saving up for it. But if pearl can link up with HG/SS i'd love to play.

HG/SS have the Pal Park just like D/P, so you can transfer Pokemon over. smile

Re: Pokémon Thread (anyone who hates it stay out)

Well, I think this update is worth a little bit of a bump.

CoroCoro_BW7.jpg

CoroCoro has released the new starters and the trainers! I don't like how any of the starters look, but look the trainers look pretty cool, not to mention quite a bit older than in previous generations....

As for that Pokemon tournament thing I mentioned before, I probably won't make a thread for it; it doesn't seem like we'd have enough people. =/ Oh well. tongue

Re: Pokémon Thread (anyone who hates it stay out)

The starters get less and less interesting each generation...

Oh well, at least I won't be playing as somebody half my age anymore. tongue

Re: Pokémon Thread (anyone who hates it stay out)

I wonder if they'll multi-type the starters this generation. I like how the multi-typing of the starters in Diamond and Pearl meant that they were near equal (type-wise, of course) once they reached the final stage of evolution.

As always, I call dibs on the fire starter.

Re: Pokémon Thread (anyone who hates it stay out)

I hope the evolutions for these starters are better. I'll probably get used to them; I thought the 4th generation Pokemon were really stupid at first, too, but now I don't mind them.

Re: Pokémon Thread (anyone who hates it stay out)

Nice find Stormy. The starters look... OK. It'll take me a while to get used to them. But hey, they'll evolve eventually. The water one's pretty cute.

And as for the trainers, not bad. Makes a change from the oversized hat on HG/SS. XD

Re: Pokémon Thread (anyone who hates it stay out)

I always seem to pick the fire type, but it seems this fire type may kill my streak.

Re: Pokémon Thread (anyone who hates it stay out)

I always seem to pick fire-type starters (except Mudkip.)
But for once, I might choose the grass-type...

Ahhwell, They better look better in their later evolvetions.

Re: Pokémon Thread (anyone who hates it stay out)

Well it depends for me. I think it's mostly water though, so that I've secured a Pokemon that can use Surf and stuff. It was Fire in Diamond and Grass in Pearl though.

Oh, and I'm playing Sapphire ATM. Here's the team:

Swampert
Skarmory
Sableye
Aggron (well, when it evolves)
Breloom
Seviper

Surprisingly good bunch.

Re: Pokémon Thread (anyone who hates it stay out)

I'm not a big fan of the new starters. The grass one looks the best for me.  I just hope the evolutions are better. As for the multi-type thing, I hope they make some good new combinations, not just for the starters, but for the gen 5 pokemon in general (Enough Rock/Ground types). I would imagine the fire starter could be a Fire/Ground type. The Water one might be Water/Ice, but I can't think of anything for the grass one really.

All I'm doing in Pokemon games now is either trying to chain for shinies in Diamond, or play around in the Battle Frontier in HeartGold. I've got all the silver medals now.

Whoa that's cool.  yikes Nice team there. Mine's different to what I'd usually go for, since I have types that I wouldn't usually have, like Ghost and Steel. Eh, I'm doing OK so far. Tate and Liza (the double act gym leaders) were a piece of cake!  :-P I'll probably get a Salamence too, if I can remember where you catch Bagon.  hmm

Bagon is in meteor falls. It's in the room above the waterfall.

Re: Pokémon Thread (anyone who hates it stay out)

Oh yeah.  roll Sorry, I haven't played Ruby or Sapphire for a long time. Thanks.

And I've been searching for a Trapinch (how's it spelt?) in Pearl for AGES.  mad

Re: Pokémon Thread (anyone who hates it stay out)

I'd probably just get Trapinch from your Ruby/Sapphire. They're in the desert on Route 111 (I think it's 111), and they appear pretty frequently. You'll get boosted experience from it being from a different game, anyway.

Re: Pokémon Thread (anyone who hates it stay out)

Yeah I considered doing that, so I went and got one on Ruby. But I've transferred so many pokemon over I'm struggling to find more!  mad Usually it's random ones like Zigzagoon or something.

Oh yeah, that always annoyed me. Why don't they let you transfer over just one or two? >.>

Re: Pokémon Thread (anyone who hates it stay out)

Yeah I know. But I transferred one over from Ruby. I have to transfer random ones over and then release them because I don't need them. I have like 3 Zigzagoons or something and my PC boxes are rapidly emptying on Ruby...  yikes

There's only one thing that annoys me on Ruby; The fact you can't see the third starter Pokemon evolvetions. :c
