Why is it so wrong to use short texting?? >.>
I don't know why we gotta type with good grammar i mean come on i see people all the time on the internet who uses short texting on youtube, (comments), myspace, facebook, twitter, ETC. But this is the only site that cares about grammar -_- i know in the rules and faqs stormy said "make it look like you have an education and have been in school" but not every body finished school im 14 and i know some of your already finished school but at least let people who didn't graduate, text short. The only reason i do it is cause im very used to it. I see no reason why its wrong in fact if we don't use them then there's no point in having them
.
(O and stormy please don't spam or bann me i really want to be friends and not argue so maybe we can start over and not argue and be buds
).

Re: Why is it so wrong to use short texting?? >.>
I'm fifteen, and frankly, you need to know how to write English properly at the age of twelve, at least. You cannot retreat to your age.
The problem with awful grammar is that it carries two negative conotations about you. Firstly, and obviously, people will think you are stupid, or badly-educated. This may seem like a harsh judgement with too little evidence, but what else to people have to go on other than what you type? Most of the time, that's all they can see about you.
Secondly, I actually find it insulting when people use "txt spk" when writing to me on a forum or chatroom. You haven't got a letter limit, so the only reasons you do it are to save time, or because you are lazy. Both of these point to the unsaid idea that "You are not important enough for me to spend time writing well." I doubt many people actually think this themselves, but it's a subconcious message I reckon.
It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living.

Re: Why is it so wrong to use short texting?? >.>
It's possible to learn a technique known as touch-typing, which allows you to type very fast and without looking at the keyboard. With it, you won't need to resort to using "txt tlk". People are less likely to bother reading or caring about your message if they have to put in much more effort reading it than, say, a sentence/paragraph in a book (depending on how big your post is).
Also, a fourth-grader can make (mostly) gramatically correct sentences consistently (of course, there will be mistakes like "The dog played in it's kennel).
"Have you seen The Passion yet? Here's a spoiler for you - Jesus dies."

Re: Why is it so wrong to use short texting?? >.>
(O and stormy please don't spam or bann me i really want to be friends and not argue so maybe we can start over and not argue and be buds ).
I don't think you quite understand the definition of spam. Spam is pointless, annoying messages that don't contribute anything to the thread. For example, if I just posted this:
!!!!! LOL!
or a picture of a tank like you did, it would be spam. It's off-topic and means nothing.
Anyway, no one is saying you must have perfect grammar. The way you are typing in this thread is more or less acceptable (although it could use some punctuation to make it more readable).
The sites you've listed off as not caring about grammar don't exactly have the best reputations. Youtube comments are barely ever read by anyone and are known for their general ignorance and stupidity. Myspace is stereotyped as being full of whiny emo children. Twitter is just pointless; who cares what you're doing every second of the day? And with Facebook, you're probably only talking to your friends, and if they use chatspeak too, a little more stupidity isn't going to hurt them. But we don't like chatspeak here. If everyone on this site typed like you, we would have a worse reputation than the Youtube commenters.
Chatspeak is genuinely hard to read. People aren't asking you to clean up your posts just to annoy you; they're really having trouble understanding you. Honestly, if SR had typed his post with real words, wouldn't it have been easier to understand?
Secondly, it makes you look uneducated and lazy. I know you're going to say you're not educated because you're only 14, but "educated" doesn't mean you've graduated. As I told you in chat, you should have been learning about grammar and spelling since your first days in school. Apply it if you want anyone to take you seriously. People don't want to read messages that look like they were written by a five-year-old. They want to read well thought out, easy to read posts that mean something.
Finally, as SR said, forums are good practice in communicating with people properly. I know you said you're not getting a job in the computer field, but typing and writing properly are an important form of communication in almost any career. You might have to communicate with your boss by email or type up a report about a project that you want to look professional. Your school career will also soon become very writing-heavy, if it hasn't already. I know for a fact that typing on the Internet has improved both my typing speed, my writing skills, and my ability to argue and back up my statements. These are all skills you will need probably in the near future when you start writing essays, so why not start practicing here?
Chatspeak is an insult to the English language and a sign of laziness, and in my opinion it shouldn't exist at all, even on cell phones. It doesn't make you look cool or Internet-savvy like a lot of people think; all it does is make you look stupid and make your posts unreadable. It's not even that much shorter to use it: "u" to "you" is only two extra letters and makes a huge difference in how people view you and your writing. You have an education, a full keyboard, and no character limit, so use them.
I'm considering recording a video of myself trying to pronounce chatspeak the way I hear it in my head. It sounds ridiculous: words broken up and choppy, one long sentence with no pauses, "u" pronounced like "ooo," and so on. This is part of the reason why I often generalize people who use chatspeak to be stupid and illiterate.
OK, that got to be a little longer than I intended. .__.

Then leave; we want nothing to do with those who can't communicate effectively. No, spelling errors so long as it is readable don't count.
And no one really cares for your belief's on the afterlife. Especially since SR banned it.

We not super strict, like everything had to be perfect or else we will go nuts, but it helps when you put a bit of extra time into your posts. I'm not saying you need to make it perfect every time, but you know, put in an honest effort.

I've noticed your posts are already becoming better and more readable; it's a good start. No one asked for perfection. It's impossible to have perfect spelling and grammar in every post.

I'm thirteen and I think that it takes more time to shorten your words than it does to type them normally.
I typed at least semi-well when I was around 10 years old, when I joined my first forum.

To be honest, if I was a moderator, I would be spending my time on
SpyroForum correcting everybody's grammar mistakes. I guess I'm like
this because my sister, who is 20 now, has always had grammar trouble
throughout her life, and I was always the one to correct her. My mom is at
the point now to where she often asks me to help her spell words correctly.
My dad, in fact, is quite literate. He doesn't need help.

It becomes quite annoying when you do that excessively and only causes people to get angry with you, it doesn't work to constantly correct people online.

Personally I find it rather annoying and hard to read. And typing them out properly seems better.
if its typed like this then i don't see what the big deal is
But if its like the other person posted, its hard to read and just time killing. You can get better practice out of doing it with at least the correct spelling, unless your not sure of how the word is spelled.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to use some punctuation in your posts mate. You don't use caps when neccessary nor do you add commas, full stops when you need to.
