"Well, I'll be asking him soon... If I can go earlier." Lucy replied, glancing at Morgan. "The trick is to impress him. He's a bit dumb sometimes!" She said with a giggle. She grabbed Lexon's glass. "For now though, just relax. Want another drink?"

"Nah, had enough." Lexon waited and started to observe the tavern. It looked like a pretty nice place, but it was awfull to work in there, according to Lucy. Pity for such an old, nice place.

Colum wrinkled his nose in distain as he watched the dragon his graceful decent through the sky, the feeling of envy creeping thrugh his thoughts. As Zeel neared however, the boy brushed the thoughts to the side to be replaced with why he had signaled the dragon in the first place.

"Do you remember where that dragons body is?!" shouted Colum to the dragon as he neared, assuming that since Zeel was still quite a ways off he would not be able to hear his if he merely spoke aloud.

((Moving things on. I really wanna get Ulkna back into this, the poor guy is still bleeding in the street... sad ))

Lucy smiled at Lexon before going back to her duties. She even threw in some jobs that weren't even on her schedule, just for good measure, and hoping that the somewhat dim Morgan would notice. She polished tables, re-lit the fireplace and cleaned the soot and she even talked to the customers more. Not that any of them were interested... the ones who were interested were for all the wrong reasons...

She kept this up for some time, then finally, covered in soot and smelling of booze, she plucked up her courage and wandered over to Morgan, who had plonked himself on a sofa and was helping himself to a drink that someone had left behind.

Ew. Lucy thought, smiling sweetly as she reached him. "Say, Morgan, I was wondering--"

"Don't tell me!" He raised his chubby hand and looked at her in an intimidating way. "You wanna leave early, don't you?"

"How the hell did you-- Oh I mean, yes, if that's OK..." Lucy put on her innocent face - big blinking eyes, a cute smile. It usually worked...

Morgan tutted and looked at the clock - it was 2:30am. The pub was practically empty, apart from Lexon and one old guy asleep on one of the sofas. He wheezed out a sigh and grunted, "Fine."

"Oh! Thank you!"

"IF..." Lucy sighed - there was always a catch, "... You come in earlier to clean up before we open. OK?"

So that means two hours sleep, ready for a 12 hour shift? Lovely... Lucy decided not to object. After all, this was a very rare occurrence. Morgan was actually in an OK mood instead of yelling at her. "OK, fair enough." She said shrugging. "Thanks Morgan."

"Heh, whatever. Go on, clear off." He waved his hand at her in dismissal.

Beaming, Lucy bounced over to Lexon. "Come on then!" She said, shaking his shoulder before skipping outside.

"Ah, do I remember? Of course I do. You should follow me, unless you're fine with the man paying you bleeding to death." Zeel then thought about the possibility of them not caring, but it was irrelevant to him. He just answered Colum's question as asked.

"Ok, let's get goin'" Lexon grinned, Lucy sure felt like joining, but was it the right choice? and if so, why did he choose someone anyway, since he preferred to work (and strike) alone? Aside from that, Lexon followed Lucy.

Another miracle it was, like a lot of people would have said. It was very rare to see a Dragon together with a human, since Dragons did not trust humans enough in general. Lexon did not either. However, Lucy seemed so kind... Not that this worked very positively on Lexon, but just enough to convince him to take her with him.

"So...Ya know yer way 'round 'ere? 'course I don't know, 'cause I fly, obviously. For this time let's take the old-fashionned route. Show me the way." Lexon said as he tried to smile, which was hard for him, but worked a bit.

"Well, to be honest, I haven't really gone in the direction of the palace before." Lucy admitted, "But it's not hard to miss - look!" She pointed at the giant building that could practically be seen from anywhere. "Just head that way, right?" She giggled. She began to skip forward and then jumped in surprise and swore as a small stone sank into her bare foot. "Argh! D@mn it! I need some shoes..." She flicked the stone off and hobbled over to Lexon. "Say... mind if I ride you? I'll still direct you." She smiled sweetly.

After some hesitation and a grunt, Lexon had to agree. After all, sharp stones must hurt skin not protected by hard scales. "Get on then, for this time." Lexon bowed down gracefully, allowing Lucy to climb on his back. "I can feel it. Ya've got great admirance for our kind, which I have to respect. Haven't seen anyone else who did the same." This was true, but still, "humans, never trust them." his father's words echoed in his mind. Not that he cared, Lucy was the perfect exception.

"Thank you." Lucy nodded in gratitude. Grabbing Lexon's shoulder, she hauled herself up, using his shoulder also as a step, and sat herself on his back. It was surprisingly high up, but it just felt like riding a horse. A big horse. "Yes, of course I respect your kind. Very much so. Your kind has done more than us humans have ever done. I still can't see why the law of the lands is that dragons and humans can't be friends or partners. Why not? Humans and dragons live together here in Warfang. Weird..."

"Anyway," She said, wriggling slightly to get comfy. "There are several ways to the palace, but I think that way is the quickest." She pointed down one of the side streets. "By the way... You never actually said why you want to go to the palace at the first place. They won't let you in, no way. I take it you just want to see it up close?"

"Oh c'mon! There're no such things as laws, and if there are, I'll break 'em whenever I want. They won't get me that quick, 'ey?" Lexon grinned, then continued. "But yeah, humans 'n Dragons are not allowed to be together, oldest "rule" since the existence of ya kind, I guess. Even we Dragons grow up with "never get along with humans, no exceptions". Don't care much 'bout it, 've got the right to ignore the rest, 'ey? Nev'r had one on me back, though."

"Why? heheheh... just keep it at seeing it up close." Lexon said as he walked in the direction Lucy pointed at.

Aurgal and Aura seemed to have left, so again, Link was travelling solo again, or wasn't he? He looked up, up to the towers of the Spire palace he had fought this Ulkna before, and the underground saved him.
Should I really return? Seems like the only option. I wonder if I can return there without someone attempting to kill me.

He started to walk towards the palace again, silently as always, ignoring everyone and everything around him. No, he didn't. But it was tough luck that he spotted another Dragon, as dark as the night, with a human girl... Riding it?! It was rare to see something like that, since it was strictly forbidden. As Link continued walking, he still tried to keep an eye on the two as long as possible.

"Hm." Lucy's drowsiness was starting to get the best of her. She was actually leaning forward slightly towards his neck, and as Lexon walked, her eyes started to close. The swaying helped as well...

"What the HELL was that?!" Lucy sat up, immediately alert again. She patted Lexon's neck. "Hey, you must have heard that. Do you think we should check it out? Someone might be hurt..."

Colum stood with his arms still raised still looking at the dragon before him, plainly expecting him to continue. Dispite his expectance, Zeel stood sylent after his retoric. The boy's arms were growing very weary and the boy himself very, very annoyed.

"Well... lead us to him, *bleep*!", spouted Colum in a fit of overwhelming irratation. "Don't take up space there, move your scaly hide! These beasts would love to have an excuse to scewer me!"

Moments after speaking, Colum instantly felt a tinge of regret for speaking, as he was quite shure that calling the centars "beasts" was a fine excuse to end him like a republican ends a healthcare bill.

((Gonna make a couple more posts with Lucy before I make Idris react. You'll see why.))

Lucy sat up completely on Lexon's back and jerked her head at the slightest sounds. What could that explosion had been? Loads of guesses came to her mind, but all of them either seemed unrealistic or near impossible...

They came out of the side-street and ended up in the longest street in Warfang. Lucy had never seen it empty before - usually it was bustling with merchants and pedestrians and there was barely room to move. Now the street was almost silent, apart from the padding of Lexon's feet.

"Try that way." Lucy said, pointing to the left. She looked around again and sighed. "In a city this big, that bang could've come from anywhere..." She happened to glance behind her and noticed movement in the dark... She squinted and noticed the outline of a dragon. She patted Lexon and whispered, "Someone's following us."

((Rurik, is it OK if A+A come to Lucy, Lexon and Link themselves? I just feel it'll save time, since Ulkna is down this street somewhere.))

Aura raced towards them, trying to signal them to run. Of course, she didn't learn any form of Clawspeak, so she wasn't able to portray the message that well.

Lucy's heart pounded as she tried not to look at the dragon that was hiding in the shadows and following them. She swallowed and tried to look straight ahead down the street, lit up by tall lamps. The last thing she should do was to confront this spy. After all, a dragon could kill a human in seconds, right? But she wondered how Lexon would react... Would he attack? If he did, what could she do to help?

Suddenly, Lucy was startled as a red dragoness came out of nowhere and ran towards them. As she got closer, Lucy recognised her immediately. "Aura?" She didn't know whether or not to smile and greet her, since she seemed to be in distress. "Aura? Are you OK?" She patted Lexon's neck again as a signal to slow down. "Calm down, what's wrong?" She glanced behind Aura and gasped. "Where's Aurgal? Is he OK? What's happened?" She asked as she started to get nervous. The explosion...

Multiple fireballs started to come out from the smoke as Aura went to shove Lucy out of the way. A chilling laughter echoed.

"*bleep*!" Link silently cursed himself as he heard Lucy noticed him. No reason to hide anymore. As instead he walked towards Lexon, hoping for a non-aggressive reaction. It failed.

As soon as Lexon noticed Link, he violently flapped his wings as a sign to tell not to walk any further. "Who're ya and why're ya followin' us? What's the matter?" he growled.
"None of your business, just curious why you broke the rule."
"Gonna play li'l lawyer now? Pathetic."
"Hmph, I don't know what you're up to, but it can't be any good."
"How can YOU know? See me as a "bad guy"?"
"You can say that, yes."
"Wrong. None of the 'em 'ere."
"What?"
"Seems like ya're both..."
"Don't make decisions on one's colour."
"Ya did."
"How's your eye?"
"Oh, *** off."
Both Dragons hissed angrily at each other. Then Link stopped with it, wisely.
"Fine. But who's that other Dragon and the girl?"
"Why sh'd ya care? I've got no idea who that Dragon is, he just appeared. But the human seems to know it..."

As Link and Lexon averted from each other, Lexon asked Lucy: "Howd'ya know this Dragon?"

((Oh thank goodness that LOL and woot thing has gone! And this is good, it'll let Lucy and Lexon head in Ulkna's direction.))

Lucy brought her leg over Lexon and slid off his back, landing with a thump on the cobblestone ground. Her feet ached as she turned to Lexon. "Aura and her brother Aurgal came to me earlier. Both of them were injured in some way. Aura lost her voice mysteriously, and Aurgal had lost one of his eyes. I tried to treat them, but I couldn't help Aura for some reason..."

She then turned to the rather rude dragon who had confronted Lexon. "Err, excuse me, 'the girl' has a name. It's Lucy, and why were you following us? And for your information, there is no law. It's simply a social norm for dragons and humans to live separate lives. Lexon and I are not breaking any law at all, and neither will we be punished for it. It was never laid down by the Counsel or the monarchy." Lucy folded her arms. "Now, unless you feel like you're going to actually be some use, could you please leave?" She asked as politely as she could.

Before she could even turn to Aura, she was pushed roughly to the side by the dragoness. "Hey! What the hell are you--" She was cut off as a fireball came blasting through the smoke towards them. "OH MY GOD, MOVE!" She screamed at the dragons as she threw herself on the floor, just avoiding the fireball. As laughter echoed around them, Lucy got to her feet and yelled, "Come on!" as she ran down the street, hoping that the others would follow.
