Colum galanced about, he noted the not only was he very close to the open gates, he also noted that the centars were looking more and more antsy with every moment that passed. Not wanting to make them any harder to work with then nessary, the boy thought better of his origional plan.

"Stay far back," the boy told the dragon, waving his hands in a shooing motion, "If I don't come back out in more then an hour, assume that sometihng has gone wrong." Colum reattached his cloak and walked quickly through the gates and made a B-line for the beasts that stood waiting for him.

Idris smirked. "Ah. Glad you had the guts to come, unlike your dragon friend there." He stepped forward. "I am Idris, commander of the guards and King Ulkna's right-hand man." He said with a touch of pride. "Now, tell me, you have something to do with that dragon's release, haven't you?"

Marko and Tomas stood on either side of the human with their long swords pointed at him. Idris drew his and did the same. "You are surrounded, human. If you try and run away, we'll run you through. Now, explain as to why that slave dragon is with you and not in his quarters. And consider yourself lucky - if the king had found you first, you'd be dead by now."

Re: A Dark Age Dawns... (Please read warning in 1st post)

What was he supposed to do if something went wrong? Zeel had just been told to assume that something went wrong if Colum didn't come back in an hour. But he had no idea what his response was supposed to be. Fight his way through, searching for him? Fly away? Lie low and try to find out more?

His magic will probably get him through... Zeel thought, and he found himself envying the power he believed Colum held. If only I could be so powerful... Why was he still tagging along with this human, anyways? Maybe Colum had something he wanted. Magic... it would be so useful...

He daydreamed for several moments of all the power he would possess if he could use magic, and like so many other times, he found himself wanting. Of course, I wouldn't use it for anything immoral.. he thought, and reassured himself. But he soon had to wake up from his dream of perfection to the reality of his situation. He would most likely never get to utilize magic. He didn't even understand how it worked. This realization tormented him, but only for a few moments. I've gone along fine without magic... he thought, why would I need it now?

But it was worth a try, wasn't it?

Lexon walked slowly through the dark alleys of Warfang, making people who looked at his scary image affraid, hoping he would find anything, any new door to another adventure. After a few hours of walking without finding anything, he decided to walk into the nearest pub of Warfang. Not to get drunk, but for people that could tell him tales. He did this many times before, and actually 4 out of 10 times, the story was either partly or fully true, giving him the opportunity to kill and "earn" more gold.

He growled angry when he walked into the pub "The Siren". "Is there just one smart guy between these drunken wimps?" Lexon said loudly, hoping everyone would hear him.

((Phew, thank goodness for that! Thanks X.))

"Ger'off me!"
"Hey b!tch! Who're you ter interfere?"

Lucy had grabbed two drunks by the collars and was trying to drag them apart. "Enough! Stop this at once or you're both barred!"

"He slept wi' ma wife!" One of them yelled.

"Well then, go and sort your disputes elsewhere and not in my pub."

"Err... MY pub." Morgan waddled over and glared at Lucy. "Go on then. There's work to be done!"

Lucy glared back and sighed wearily as she walked away. She glanced up at the clock on the wall; it was 1am. Two more hours of this torture to go... then a 'bright and early' start at 7am. Joy...

She wandered to the bar and continued washing beer glasses in the sink. She had not stopped thinking about Aura and Aurgal, and was wondering if they had recovered... and not ran into Ulkna again. Tomorrow... on my break I'll see if I can find them.

At that moment, a dragon came in. Lucy smiled at the new customer and said, "Hi. What can I get you?"

"Alcohol is like a leech that sucks up your mind, letting you become one of 'em..." Lexon said, pointing at a few drunken people. "No, what I need is nothin' but information 'bout what's going on 'ere. You know, tales, legends, or information 'bout the ruler. Heard it's a horrible one." He tried to smile, but he couldn't. "On second thought, also give me some water if you can." he said, feeling the thirst of two days without water. He guessed he needed it.

"Err... OK then! Coming up!" Lucy glanced warily at the dragon, then turned and got out a clean mug. "Here. This stuff is nicer." She said, getting out some cold bottled water. "Better than the tap stuff. Here ya go!" She placed the glass in front of the dragon and smiled again. He seemed a lot more sinister than some of the other dragon's she had seen before ((she has never met Ulkna yet)). Still, her mother always told her never to judge based on appearances. "So, where are you from? Round here?"

"'Round 'ere, 'round there, 'round everywhere. I'm a traveller, you see. But of'n stop 'ere in Warfang to hear more unsolved tales." Lexon told, then drunk from the water. It tasted good; better than the normal water from the springs everywhere. "So, ya know what's goin' on lately?"

"Ah. I'd love to travel." Lucy said, drifting off into a brief daydream. "Stuck here unfortunately. Ah well. At least I can eat." She carried on washing glasses in the sink. "News? Well, all I heard was that there was an explosion at the Spire Palace - you can't miss it, it's that huge building in the north of the city. Yeah, one of the towers has a huge hole in it." She picked up several glasses and put them away in a cupboard. "I overheard people talking about it. No one really knows what happened. Some think that there was some sort of conflict there earlier today." She reached behind her and tightened her ponytail. "Apparently, it's gonna be fixed tomorrow. I feel sorry for those slaves of his..."

Re: A Dark Age Dawns... (Please read warning in 1st post)

Colum bent his arms at the elbow and held up his hads at sholder level, exposing his palms for all the world to see. He surpressed the urge to turn tail or pull a blade but he halted this idea. Two thigs held him still, one (and the larger part of the eqation) was simply how futile any attempt at fleeing or attacking was, he was vastly outnumbered and massivly weaker compared to the beasts before him. They were much fleeter of foot on there 4 hooved legs compered to his two booted ones, thus running was a death wish. The other thing that held him was the slight intrest in the dragon he had come to help. It should be noted that he did not care about the dragon, he only felt a small amout of intrest in his fate, as it decyded if the boy himself would have any coin in his pocket.

"Don't stab me," began Colum in a hollow voice, "I am only here to inform you that a dragon named Ulkna is badly injured in town, he told me to come here and inform the..." the boy paused, about to say "savage animals" but though better of it, continuing, "guards stationed here." Colum licked his lips then continued in a still hollow voice, "The slave dragon that did not come to you when I did was givven to me as a means of fast tranit by Ulkna." Colum felt the sliva building in his mouth and refrained from swollowing, as it would be an ovious give-a-way that he was slightly lieing about Zeel's freedom.

Idris gritted his teeth and placed his sword on the human's throat, just to scare him. "Don't lie to me, human!" He growled. "If the king finds out--"

"Didn't you hear him?!" Marko lowered his sword and looked at Idris, a stern look in his brown eyes. "Ulkna is injured. We ought to help him."

Idris rolled his eyes at Marko's good nature - not good for a job like this.

"Why?" Tomas demanded. "I say let him suffer and die." He spat on the ground and sniffed. "Consider it payback for all the trouble he's caused us... and the terrible pay."

"We can't just leave him!" Marko said.

Idris smirked. "Yeah, we'd be unemployed if--"

Tomas immediately put his sword back on his waist and said, "Well come on then. Let's go. Gotta feed the family ain't I?"

Idris laughed and lowered his sword. "Works every time. Now, human, lead  us to him at once." He pushed the human forward, his sword in his back. "Remember, run away, you die. And... if this is a trick, we'll know eventually, won't we?"

"So... No one knows what happened?" Lexon said, asking for confirmation. He wanted to go, but felt a little sorry for Lucy. Her life was miserable. He couldn't leave her as a "prisoner" in Warfang, if she could live her life in another way. "That's allrite. 'll go there then. Wanna come wi' mey?" he asked in a strange way, wanting to hide his feelings behind his pirate-like voice and image.

Re: A Dark Age Dawns... (Please read warning in 1st post)

Colum swolloed the spit that was gathering in his mouth, both relived and takenaback by the turn of events that he was involved with. He was never one for crouds, much less groups of creatures he had never met beofre, even less when thay were not human, and to an even lesser extent when they gruop of nun-humans he did not kow intended to spill his bloodif he managed to get lost in a city he had been in only once before.

"I...," he muttered, trying to find both the words to inform the beasts that he diddn't remember exactilly where Ulkna was and not have himslef staked in the process, and his hollow voice that had been replaced by a squeemish, scared, feminen like voice. "I...,I diddn't have time to memorize Ulkna's exact location... or even the district that he fell in. I am a stranger to this town and I would easely lose my way if I tryed to lead you anywhere." Colum managed to make this entire statement with minimal voice cracking, umm-ing and eer-ing , and fidgiting. Even for all his pretended ease and indiffrence, it was very plain to see the the boy was the definiton of uncofortable, even thinking to himself, "Where's that danmed dragon when you need him?" As one might have expected from someone such as Colum, this is not out of anything closely resembling worry or caring for Zeel, but a hope the if the dragon was there, he could pull the boys bacon out of the fire, so to speak. If the removal of Colum's bacon involved Zeel taking a sword or four to the chest, so be it. The dragon may not be in chains, but he was no less property in Colum's eyes, but mayhaps very very valuable property.

Re: A Dark Age Dawns... (Please read warning in 1st post)

Lucy POV

"You mean to the palace? Um..." Lucy wanted nothing more than to see more than the pub and The Wayfarer Inn in which she was accommodated. "I... I don't finish work for another 2 hours..." She glanced at Morgan, who was yelling at the two drunks that had been fighting. Just chuck them out... Idiot... Lucy thought. She looked at the dragon. "If I sneak out, he'll find out, you can count on that. I'll lose my job, and as much as I dislike it here, I need the money..." She put on a mischievous grin. "But I'll can see if I can get away early shortly. For now, enjoy your drink." She leant forward and whispered, "It's on the house." She said with a wink before going back to washing glasses.

She doubted whether Morgan would let her go early. Still, it was worth a try...

Idris POV

"What do you mean 'you don't know where he is'?!" Idris snapped, jabbing his sword further into the boy's back. Hopefully hurting him slightly might have made him admit that it was a trick. He'd still die. "Lead us to him now,  or both you and your dragon friend will die!" He growled, pushing the human forwards.

((Yeah, I know, I was thinking about Aurgal and Aura... Well, I plan for Lucy and Lexon to leave the tavern soon and head to the palace. Perhaps they could bump into the twins on the way?

And X, Link is a bit stuck too I've noticed. Perhaps the same could happen with him? The sooner our characters get together, the sooner they can form some sort of rebellion against Ulkna, since its the main idea of the RP.

But so far, good job guys. smile))

Re: A Dark Age Dawns... (Please read warning in 1st post)

A sharp pain seared the middle of the boy's back, then quickly spread to his sholders. His first reaction was to strike out at the beast, for both the beast like scense of retaliation and vengence and for the hope of self preservation. A quick twitch and jerk of his head is all this anger and frusteration amounted to. He managed to withold the wish to become very violent (and perhaps very dead).

"I do not know where the dragon fell!" Colum spat, restraining his rage. "I told you I am stranger in this city! I know nothing of your streets!" The boy bit his lip to continue restraining himself, "It can't be very far from here, the dragon fell not too far from here then managed to walk a ways before collapsing."

Colum thought to himself in  somewhat reflective manner, "Zeel would be realy helpful right about now, even if only to find that danmed dragon!" This observation gave him an idea.

"I need to signal my dragon," spoke Colum to the gathering of swords wielding beasts, "he might remember much better then I would about where Ulkna has fallen."

Re: A Dark Age Dawns... (Please read warning in 1st post)

Idris POV

Idris rolled his eyes and resisted the urge to stab the rather cheeky human through the heart. "Fine." He growled through gritted teeth. "Call that bloody beast-- I mean dragon. Call it." He muttered, pulling his sword from the human's back, but still pointing it at him.

((I have a plan for Lucy and Lexon regarding Ulkna. I plan for them to find him and then grab Idris' attention by calling for help.))

Lucy POV

For the time being, Lucy had decided to leave Lexon to enjoy his drink while she tried to win Morgan's approval (which in itself was a near impossible task). She merely did all her jobs as best she could, hoping that she'd even get near to impressing the miserable sod.

He had finally kicked the two drunks out after one of them had tried to break a glass on his head. Although Lucy was disappointed that the drunk had not succeeded, she actually smiled at Morgan whenever he glared at her (usually she would've either glared back, ignored him or stuck her tongue out when she was feeling stupid).

Just a little longer... She thought while wiping the bar. ...Then I'll ask him. She decided to make conversation with Lexon in the meantime. "So... er... why do you wanna go to the palace anyway?" She asked cautiously. "From what I've heard, the king is a real nasty piece of work. You wouldn't believe some of the horror stories I've overheard." She said shuddering.

Lexon finished drinking and growled. "Why would I be scared of some stories you 'eard? Ya shouldn't believe ev'ry story ya 'ear. At least 50% of 'em are lies, ya know. On the other hand, how can ya know if a story is a lie or the truth? That's why ya must listen to all of them..." Lexon told. He loved to talk in a complicated way. He always tried to confuse someone with two different viewpoints, to check if someone's smart enough to understand what he means. "Anyway, I'm not affraid. More important is... Are YOU affraid?"

Re: A Dark Age Dawns... (Please read warning in 1st post)

The boy relished the idea of a small amount of freedom. Taking a few short, well paced steps to try and get out of the centuar's immedate stabbing range, the boy dropped his arms and began to think about exactilly how he was going to signal to Zeel that he needed him.

Colum began by simply waving his right arm, then the left one joind it's brother and wavved maddly too. Next came the jumping up and down to grasp the dragon's attenction, soon joined by a cacophony of "OY!"s, and "HEY"s spewing from the boy's mouth.

Zeel looked in the direction he heard the shouting coming from. It sounded like Colum - hopefully this meant he was unhurt. He seemed to be doing a dance, good news perhaps?

"Yeah, I'm coming," Zeel said, though not above his normal voice. He picked himself up and began flying in Colum's direction. If this is a trap, I'm dead... he thought.

Re: A Dark Age Dawns... (Please read warning in 1st post)

Idris POV

The centaur merely grunted as he saw the dragon approach. Tomas wandered up to him and whispered, "In my opinion, this is a waste of time. Why don't we just kill the boy, let the dragon flee and look for the king ourselves?"

Idris heavily considered the idea. He hadn't killed anything in a while.

Lucy POV

"Oh well, the evidence stares you in the face with some of them." Lucy leaned forward and whispered, "Not too long ago, a man came in here with his left arm missing. Said he'd been like that for some time. I overheard him bragging about the fact that he'd only just survived." She glanced around quickly to see whether anyone was listening in. Then she continued, "He said: 'The beast just stood staring at me, a weird glow in his eye. Then the next thing I know, my arm was on the floor.' I tell you..." A shiver ran down Lucy's spine, "...If what that man said is true, then this Ulkna is more than a dragon. He's a demon. Dismembering people just by looking at them... Sounds like more than a dragon to me..."

"Am I scared?" Lucy in fact was a little disturbed, but there was no reason for her to be full-on terrified if she had never met this demon dragon. "Nope. I have no reason to be, and I hope I never will."
