The reason it's aweful is because of the sound quality. Oh, and CoB doesn't focus on lyrics they focus on music.

Oh believe me Attack Attack is nowhere NEAR as bad as Brokencyde

I like Attack Attack actually, I've seen them live when they opened for a show;; sometimes bands have a better effect live than they do on disc, and this is one of those bands...they had everyone on the floor moving, and at a point everyone on the floor was jumping in sync and the floor was bouncing everyone from it.

And CRABCOOOORE MAAAAAN, DON'T HATE. XDDDDDD

I pretty much agree. Except Coldplay, they're OK but I've never really listened to much of their stuff. Green Day, Black Eyed Peas and the horrible Jonas Brothers *pukes* I dislike too. The others are just... meh. :-|

Actually their guitars are around drop D/C. Their guitars have jumbo frets so they can't go any lower than drop C without getting some serious fret buzz.

I dislike SlipKnot's new stuff, their old stuff was cool. I hate BMTH, BFMV, and just about every other mainstream band(except the odd few).

you can't stereotype any band "mainstream" unless they're played constantly, seriously...if you're calling bands like THAT mainstream, then you have a lot of digging to do. There are tons of great bands with a fair amount of fame that are still pretty good. You can't just not try something because of it's genre. That's pretty closed...

The reason I called them mainstream is because they're too well known to be underground and lots of people know them and their songs are in movie OSTs, video game soundtracks. Have you ever heard any Moonsorrow or Sunn O))) in any movies or games? I'll name a few other underground bands, Satyricon, Earth, Skullflower, Ov Hell, Behemoth, etc. Like I said, "the odd few" famous bands I do like. The genre exists because it makes it easier to judge, a genre is formed by the sound, feel and theme. You don't believe in subgenres because you don't see the need, fair enough, but it's also easier to give it a subgenre rather than just call it hardcore(which is, btw, a subgenre of punk music, you can look it up on any musical archive) or whatever. Also I recall you saying metal is "poppy", you don't seem to get the concept of metal then. Metal has a heavier sound than rock and in some instances more aggressive. Also some people judge by genre for an easy listen because that's what they like, so when somebody asks me what kind of band is this one, I'll say, as an example, doom metal or death metal because then they can determine sound by genre and it narrows it down easier, just calling everything "hardcore" would confuse the life out of everybody seeing as every "fake metal" band is hardcore so they don't know what to expect. The reason they are called metal is because just about all metal music is influenced by Black Sabbath it's just they try different ways of playing the music, some play aggressively others not so much. And you can argue until your blue in the face but this is FACT yours is just an opinion going against just about the entire world seeing as you're the only person who thinks this way. You can take your theory to www.metalhammer.co.uk(they don't only review metal bands, they also review punk, rock, hardcore, etc.) and these guys are professionals with years of study in music and journalism, because going around saying "this band is hardcore", "metal is fake", blah blah blah is very ignorant because

a) You don't listen to metal

b) You obviously don't understand the importance of genres

c) You don't study these bands hard enough

d) You can't accept the fact that you might(note "might") be wrong.

Hell I might be wrong too, but you know what, I can accept it. Most people now would tell you to get your head out your *bleep* but I'm not that kind of person. So before you go around saying you know everything about music actually make sure you do because that annoys the people who do know what they're talking about. I don't know everything about music but I'm at least not shoving my opinions down everybody's throat and protest at the mere mention of a different opinion to my own. You can have your opinion and I'll have mine whether or not they are right or wrong.

I have heard tons of unknown bands on soundtracks and movies.

As for you saying what I've stated before, I was talking about the original term of "metal" like it was used in the 1980's. In the 80's the genre "metal" WAS poppy. See Whitesnake, David Lee Roth, Poison, etc.

I do know what I'm talking about, but I'm trying to make the point that instead of closing yourself off to certain "genres" or a band just because it's popular is very ignorant.

I have had friends that will not try an artist or a band because of it's genre. I've seen examples of people liking a song on the radio, and then when someone tells them who it is they'll tell them to change the station. This conflict is from genres, which do make it easier to find something that you might like, but it's taken too seriously and makes people close off to something that they might actually end up falling in love with.

I didn't really like the 80's metal much(other than Iron Maiden and Metallica).

You know what you're talking about when it comes to other genres, not so much with metal, the reason I close myself off to certain genres is because I know for a fact that I don't like the genre, like pop I've heard enough pop in my lifetime to say that I don't like the genre, same with other genres that I don't like. The reason why I don't listen to most popular bands is because sometimes they sound souless and dead, like listening to smoke, some popular bands are good, like Nickelback and Muse, others not so much. The reason I judge by genre is because it makes it easier to categorise as well as determine sound and style. That's why we have subgenres, like hard rock, hardcore punk, screamo, power pop, thrash metal, etc. All different sounds and styles with influences from the main genre. You've got to understand metal has evolved from the 80's glam era. Much like punk, modern punk sounds nothing like the 70's/80's punk.

I see your point there, there are some bands from some genres that I don't like that I actually do like. I'm not always that bloody-minded, I don't really like rap-core much yet I listened to bands like Rage Against The Machine and Hollywood Undead. I don't like emo at all yet I like MCR and the odd few songs from 30 Seconds To Mars. I don't like pop but I like m.o.v.e. I often make sure that I don't like the band or the genre.

Well you also got to understand that not all pop artist is that terrible just because of what you might hear on the radio, along with any pop/rock band. There might actually be something out there that you like but refuse to try just because it's in a certain genre.

I never said that metal didn't evolve, but in the past I've talked about it's roots.

Funny, I seem to recall you saying bands that call themselves metal are not metal. As well as "there is no such thing as death metal, power metal or thrash metal." As well as something about "fake" guitar solos.

I don't know about "underground" because to me "underground" is like the 90's grunge bands that come from my town. But an example I guess would be Aiden, they've been in a few soundtracks but still don't have that much fame and can't even afford a bus to tour in. There are more but I cannot think of them on the top of my head.

There are such things as fake guitar solos, when bands use computer technology to make a solo seem more than it is.
