I could probably self teach if I knew how to tune an acoustic

Heck yes. My life is dedicated to playing it. I will be going to college to
major in music, and most likely get a job working at a recording studio, and
being in a band as a secondary "job."
Unless you're in a famous band, being in a band isn't great for being a
primary job. They have low income.
