Re: Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Movie

I was going to see it last night...but I got sidetracked. I heard it was ok...unless you're a movie critic and hate most anything. I never read the books though so I don't have much to reference it against lol

Sounds like a good movie.

Re: Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Movie

All I'm interested in seeing is how it ties back to Greek Mythology...hopefully it's accurate.

Re: Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Movie

I got the book read to me when I used to go to school;; but I barely paid attention to some parts due to my teacher's boring monotone voice.

I'm interested in seeing it. I noticed that in the previews they modernized the movie a bit; instead of a shield/mirror to freeze Medusa, they used the back of an iPod product.

Re: Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Movie

I've been studying Greek Mythology in school, so this might be kind of interesting for me to see.

I haven't read the books, but my twelve-year-old sister really likes them.

Re: Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Movie

I just saw the movie yesterday. and I didn't really care for it but it was still pretty good. I prefer it over the more recent harry potter movies (its getting too dark and depressing for me) its not really a movie I would personally buy

Re: Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Movie

By my reckoning, it's pretty awful. Oh it's an original and interesting concept, and there's a lot of room for interesting scenes (one or two fights were pretty good actually), but the entire movie is executed horribly. The first twenty or so minutes have a ridiculous amount to take in. It should have taken a good forty-five minutes to get the introduction enjoyable and informative. And the rest of the movie is similiar, with the makers obviously just trying to jam in as much ancient Greek content as possible. And if I'm honest, I could pull off better sword-fighting that everyone on the cast. It's so weak, and for what tries to be a modern epic, that's really a kick in the goolies.

I would recommend not going to see it, personally.

Re: Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Movie

I read the book.  They left out tons of stuff from the book. But the movie was really good! LIts in my top five of fav movies now.  They change it up a bit from the book, but still good.

How off is it from the book? I have read all the books and I do not want to see the movie with Percy walking into Camp Half-Blood COMPLETELY unscratched instead of staggering down the hill. I already heard that they use a iPod instead of a globe in "Auntie Em's Emporium" (Urr. Forgive me if I got that name wrong).

Urr. Weak sword fighting? Please tell me they did not pull in a bunch of amateurs and said "ok fight". Luke has pretty much have to be played by a pro swords fighter. Percy can stick as a amateur because he is wimpy at the blade in the first book.

Re: Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Movie

It's so silly. Half of the guards are those stupid "reach behind with your sword and block" things. It's got no style, and very little realism as well. The lot of them are supposed to be Greek heroes.

They were really off in some areas.  They go to Nashville and fight the hydra, that wasnt in the book.  There is so much that they left out and changed.  Like the Underworld, no lobby, no Cerburus, and Persephone is there.  Its off.  But I still enjoyed.  O no big house at the camp either.

Re: Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Movie

Yes, the movie had me going, but I was downed by the intro and some fight scenes. The intro? You're just bum-rushed into the life of Percy *bleep*.

And shazzam, everything rolls from there. I'm sadded but w/e.

Re: Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Movie

Meh, not interested...

I'm waiting for the Clash Of The Titans.

Now THAT'S going to be a ****ing epic movie inspired by Greek myths...

Even if it's only half as good as the original 1981 film it's still going to be epic!
