Re: Remakes vs. Old Versions
i haven't seen too many movies in general, much less ones with 2 versions. but i have seen Charlie And The Chocolate Factory [both versions]...
new versions of movies have more effects, because of the new technology... but along with that, it's a different production of course, and it takes away from it a little bit because it's just not the classic.
but with Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, the old version seemed to be trying too hard. "i bet the ticket makes the chocolate taste bad..." ![]()

Re: Remakes vs. Old Versions
This topic reminds me of the Battlefield series of games. 1942 was, by a
long shot, the best Battlefield game out of them all. It's also the first, being
that it came out in 1999. Even though Battlefield still is the best warfare
series, the older games were better. Also, and this is surprising, the olader
games have a more realistic physics engine.
There is probably no game out there that has as much realistic plane, car,
helicopter, etc. physics than what 1942 has. Especially the helicopter
physics. They are insane! [That is, the Desert Combat mod for 1942.]

Old verions you just can't remake that magic.
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Re: Remakes vs. Old Versions
Old versions tend to be better, in the new versions I can't help but think: "we've seen this all before."
With Charlie and the Chocolate Factory... The old one was better; you just can't beat orange and green Oompa-Loompa's!! XD Though on saying that the new one had its quirks. Mainly the fact that Johnny Depp makes one AWESOME Willy Wonka.

Yea. Both versions have good things about them. The guy that played Willy in the classic version sung too much for my taste. If it is not hardcore, spare me.
Originals tend to be better because they are fresh out of the creator's head. They are not turned over by fans or other companies. When it is made FRESH by the artist, it is remembered more. When you turn the creation into a different thing all together, it does not run rail and rail with the original creation. Which thus would make it seem "worse".
Personally. I would like to see rather the originals REMADE. Not "remade, Oh this guy will smash this pearl in the inn instead of the bar because changing small details is fun.". There is a difference. When you are like me and notice things like that, it really bugs the living hell out of you. I love the new special effects they have now, but sometimes I wonder if the producers put more in the EFFECTS to wow people away for 5 minutes instead of WOWING people away by the story line. Effects are cool, but they are boring after you see them more than 5 or 6 times.
So when Hollywood starts paying attention to the story and acting like Americans will not notice when you change the details... Or keep making movies that will get their buck off a awesome trailer and cool effects...
