I love the music, but if the vocals are always like that, then it's not my cup of tea. That said, Epica have a bit of screamo too, but only occasionally.

Hey, rap is the worst. In my opinion, vocals for rap 'bands' aren't actually
singing. They are talking. And most of the time, it's monotone.

Anyways, I recently bought some great songs from a band called Thrice.
One being a song called Come All You Weary. Has anyone heard of Thrice?

My cousin likes, or at least used to like them (I haven't talked to him in about a year so I don't know).

I remember having a conversation with a family member in the car one day about rap;; apparently most of them all learn from singing in church but once they leave church they have all these songs about drugs and stuff, which is interesting...

And I remember my uncle saying "That guy T-Pain sounds good when he actually sings, but he's one of the ugliest things I've ever seen!" XPP

I can't really tell a rap artist from a rap artist unless I actually know the song;; even their looks, for that matter. They all look the same and sound the same...

Like if I sort of knew a band and heard them on the radio or something, I'd be able to know who they are without knowing the song because I could recognize the sound.

PeralJam is way to big to be underground though. I'm not really much of a fan in all honesty, I respect them and they have influenced artists I do really like, but the stuff I've heard by them just doesn't do it for me. But yeah, definetly not underground, their actually ubermainstream as far as grunge goes. Especially that damg Backspacer album. I think I've heard "the Fixer" over 500 times without going out of my way to hear it once. The radio stations literally just would not stop playing it.

Age of Cynder- Haha I almost wish they overplayed BFMV here, it'd be a nice change from the stuff they actually do overplay here. Haha... tongue

As for screaming, it can be great if done right. Like Rise Against and Gob are great at screaming, because they keep it melodic. Screaming usually works best when blended with softer vocals, bands that do nothing but scream generally suck. There's a balance.

Here's a good example of awesome music with sucky vocals. I love underoath, and I honestly think if their old stuff didn't have vocals, it'd be perfect.

Argh. Those bands with the lead singer having the high pitched 'EEEEEE' voice annoy me. I would rather have my nails ripped off, my skin skinned off, and my hair ripped out than listen to those bands.

Although if it is a metal song with crappy lyrics it will suck. I mean that is part of metal, you have to have the lyrics because just the music is not enough. tongue

I know a lot of people here probably won't like it, but I do... this is one of those bands that are kind of off and on for me... like one day I like them and the next I don't. Or I'll hate their old stuff and love the new and vice versa.

I don't like Underoath just for the fact that they're pretty prejudice and I've heard about them trash talking lots of bands because they aren't "Christian Bands"

but IMO I like music for it's music, I like some "Christian Bands" but it doesn't mean that I have to follow it like lots of people tend to think

See this is why I don't get along well with other Christians. Most of them are to closed minded. They just want to take everything they get told and live by it.
I actually search for the truth, not get told it. I don't like organized religion anyway. I think it's an individual thing. Not a 'this person teaches all of you, and you follow them' thing.

Oh those people obsessed with the guitar solos... Argh. Those are the people that should play Guitar Hero more often. The songs pretty much FEEL like you are solo. If you screw up it is like the whole band screws up.

I stick with what I know to be true. I'm a Christian, but closed-minded doesn't fit my description. I think a lot of people you thought to be Christians weren't really... you know, the people that make your life hell and say crap like "YOU'RE GONNA BURN BLAH BLAH BLAH (I'm a psycho!)"

It bugs me when people put Bible verses all over their cars with crap from Revelation and other dooms-day crap. It turns people off and it just ain't me.

I mostly like guitar solos from Pink Floyd.

I really like Creed and Alter Bridge, but have a strong dislike for their
guitarist's [Mark Tremonti's] solos.

Here'a a video with my favorite Pink Floyd guitar solo ... if you're at all
interested. If you jump to the middle of the song, you will find the
beginning of the 4 min 40 sec long solo, beginning at 4:52 in the video.

For you maybe. I don't listen to them for their guitar work. Although their sound is perfect. I listen to them like I listen to Pearl Jam. For the lyrics. Both of them have excellent guitar work though.

Do I honestly have to post this everywhere? Or shall I put it in my sig. Opinions are like buttholes; everybodys got one, and most of them are crappy. (This is like the worst thread for this to go in XD. I'm well aware of how hypocritical I am. Not to mention, cynical)
