Re: Furries
Uh, I have a question. What convention did you go to and how big was it??
Just because one convention is like that it does not mean they all are. In fact an outside reporter snuck into one and did an article on it saying that it was like "a Catholic school Halloween party" Anthrocon is nothing like that as well, seeing how many reporters have done stuff there and *gasp* got nothing.

Re: Furries
I guess it does depend on the convention. Because its against anthrocon rules to have animals exept for people with disabilities. I also think that whatever you are hinting at with the animals is disgusting.

OK, this thread is starting to go in an inappropriate direction.
Let's steer it away from the sexual talk or this thread will have to be locked.

Re: Furries
SapphireSheep wrote:*raises hand* Im a furry! and yes. Spyro IS a furry. furries dont literally have to have fur and they dont have to be anthro. furries can be feral, cat girls, scalies, creatures, anthros, ect.
I hate to rain on your parade, but the generally accepted definition of a furry is someone who uses an anthropomorphic animal avatar for the purposes of identification (and also role play) online. Species doesn't matter ("scaly" is a term used as a matter of preference) as the term is exclusive by name but all encompassing in nature.
"Cat girls" are more commonly known as "Neko", and those who use feral animals as their avatar fall into a bunch of different spectrum of categorization that encompass things like lycanthrope, dragonkin, therian, etc. Spyro's body structure does not match that of what is considered "furry" - he is of feral design.
I don't consider myself a furry at all, and I quite dislike anthropomorphic artwork, I think it's unappealing. I hang around the communities though, because like I said, it's a community that shares at least some interest with other groups that I belong to - and the people there enjoy my work regardless, even if there's no anthro art.
(Completely unrelated: Since you're a furry - did you Watch me on FurAffinity? Someone with Sapphire in their name did a while ago.)
to answer your question. no. I dont use the name sapphire in my FA account.
also, I really dont care how in depth or technical you can define furries because no matter what you call it, all the things listed can be put in the furry catagorey. and you said people call cat girls 'neko' neko literally means cat. not cat-girl. dragonkin are still furries. calling a dragon a dragonkin is like calling a dog a canine. not matter what it can still be a furry. just different things have different names for the types and species.

Re: Furries
Uh, no if you read the wiki I do not mean what a furry is in regards to people. I mean in regards to animals.

Re: Furries
Otherkin is sometimes included in furry culture. I thank you for acknowledging my post. Not to be contemptuous but I don't see you posting anything vaguely intelligent recently. Your post regarding FurCon wasn't called for as there are certain individuals here who are new to the fandom, and some are just trying to mingle with the non-yiff side of the fandom. Yiff is a fragment of what the fandom is, as is fursuiting, otherkin, etc etc. The wikifur entry put things in easy perspective for me. I suggest you take into account the manner of your 'tone' when posting and please be considerate to who is posting here.
I respect your position, and me, being new to the fandom, still have much to learn. But I know people, I know how they react. I am the best non-psychologist, individual that can read people and understand their thoughts. i may be young, but my mind is old. Watch what you say, is all I ask.
Keep it clean, and be considerate! ![]()

Re: Furries
Ah yes. Now we are making progress.
Sadly my mind is to old for my body. I think and notice things that few others of my age can muster. I have often wondered what it would be like to be in another persons shoes. I have always been the most intelligent and deep person i have known. i have few 'true' friends, because sooooo few individuals are at my level.
(Sigh), I wish sometimes i was just a little stupider. My parents are mad at me usually for things like, day dreaming, being anti-social oh and my favorite. Unexceptable grades. I can do so much better at school, but I don't. I find school boring, and far to easy. Theres no challenge and nothing new.

Re: Furries
Yeah, well this is one of the reasons I was born a furry. I HATE OUR SPECIES. For those reasons. People are stupid. They cause problems. They assume. Ugh, are people sucky. Honestly scientists have concluded that we have been in-fact devolving for the last 1000 years. This came as no surprise to me when I heard it. Humans are animals as much as we like to raise ourselves up, we really aren't that great. If I had to pick God's most successful creature? I'd pick wolves.

Re: Furries
I hate all humans, but that could be applied to just about everyone. Mostly the idiotic species called Humans
Let's see....if we go by the bible, we are are inscestous tards
Evolution, we evolved from animals only to be really incestous in the middle ages
Hence why I always have a cold aura of hate around me and no one bothers me.

Exactly!!! Because people focus on the negative. People constantly say "I don't think negatively" Thats BS. We all do.

Thats what i think!

I find mine to be a mixture of both 'anthro' and 'feral'. And dark themes. Oh, and other things that children (not sex) shouldn't attempt.

Re: Furries
Quickly skimming through this thread, doesn't the circular arguments show that the very definition of a furry is open to interpretation? I don't think there's one official definition that holds true to everyone like a word in a dictionary would.
I also respect the fact that furries dislike the kind of opposition they face when it comes to stereotypes, but the preservation of furry-talk in this thread is becoming overly controlled - I'd still give my opinion on the matter if I want to.
If there is still any wonder why furries are disliked, well look at the posts in this thread right now. I can see a few reasons already:
- being overly defensive of their status despite knowing the consequence of choosing to be a furry
- the "I hate my own body" attitude (yeah this is sad)
I'll say once more that by choosing to be a furry, you're expected to live up to being a laughing stock to others. You can sulk, or you can laugh with them or laugh it away. You can hate your body, or you can actually embrace it and live life as you have it. And I plan to live life the fullest, not worried about yearning to hate the body I was born with. You can still be a furry and have a happy outlook on the people around you, even furry-mockers.
outside of the clean websites and forums, "there be dragons" (pun intentended).
oh god lol
Ah yes. Now we are making progress.
Sadly my mind is to old for my body. I think and notice things that few others of my age can muster. I have often wondered what it would be like to be in another persons shoes. Most arrogant thing I've read in a while.
Also, just be patient. You don't know the half of it. If you want something new, head for a master's degree and do some research - you'd be looking for new ideas and concepts, literally.
