So if we are getting a new Spyro game this year (2010)...
We're gonna have some competition on releasing the new Spyro game.
That's right.
Every Spyro game that we know has been released between September to November. Well, pretty much covering the rest of the world -- with the exception of Spyro Orange (which was released in June of 2004). Why am I speaking out? The purple dragon will have to compete against the following franchises and/or games: Super Mario Galaxy 2, a presumably new Sonic game, maybe Crash (which is also belonged to Activision, along with Spyro), and maybe many others waiting to reveal themselves in 2010's E3. (I only listed down the games that relating to platforming... x3)
Recently, the video gaming industry has been experiencing game titles that have been moved from 2009 to this year, 2010. Even Capcom moved some of their games from this year, to 2011. This is a good thing for having more development time, or avoid a very big release like Modern Warfare 2.
But... will this affect our purple dragon? The reputation of people loving dragons -- which also likes Spyro is an advantage -- and the content target of everyone but players less than 10 years old is pretty decent. (Even young adults play it and still like it ^_^) But what will the fate of the Spyro series will be? Continue after the Legend of the Spyro series, or back to old school platform with something more than the previous games can handle? Will Activision Publishing handle the situation to the fullest? Post your opinions. x3
Cross our fingers...
In my world, I believe that there are many, many ideas that are waiting to be created; by inspiration, renewing an old idea, or just by accident.

Re: So if we are getting a new Spyro game this year (2010)...
I hope that they go back to the original games. I mean, people have been complaining about how different Sonic is becoming so this year Sega are going to release Project Needlemouse. A sinking feeling in me says that TLoS will be continued (thanks to that bloody interview) but I'd rather nothing than TLoS. Some series are better left dead than dragged along, bleeding, like a zombie.
Weren't we supposed to have the movie last year in the place of a Spyro game? Looks like that isn't going to happen. The newest release date is four months away now and we haven't heard anything.

Re: So if we are getting a new Spyro game this year (2010)...
Hmm...I think that the people who made TLoS weren't going to make a 4th TLoS game, and leave it as a trilogy, but I'm not sure if that was confirmed or not.
Out of anything, I would prefer another TLoS game, considering how they have plenty to work with to make another game, except that they killed off quite a few characters.
I don't think that they should continue/add-on to the older Spyro games because those were great as they were, and there's nothing really left to add to them, and I don't think that too many people these days would know they rest of the Spyro story to get to figure out whats going on. Plus it wouldn't be the same since they were PlayStation 1 games.

Good point, but I think old Spyro could probably get away with it because it didn't exactly have a very complex story that would need adding to. Nor does there necessarily need to be continuity with the ten-year-old games for the new game to be in classic style.
Not saying it's going to happen; I'm just saying I don't think it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Scarlett, the next Spyro game won't be named the Legend of Spyro because it's named for the trilogy. And since the trilogy is over, the game won't have The Legend of Spyro as part of the title, and it'll probably just be set in the LoS universe with one full story.

The next TLoS (if that's what there doing) will probably be.....ok I think they need to mix TLoS and the eralier one's in a way. And for god sake they need to make new characters and better enemies and bosses.

Re: So if we are getting a new Spyro game this year (2010)...
I think that they could add a little bit more of the orig. style game play into the new game while keeping the same story line and characters.. maybe add some of the old ones that people loved in the mean while. A complete connection would not work though..
Secondly I think it would do well if it was releaced in a down time of game releaces.. like find the time where nothing is being releaced and releace it then... that way the game mags. will have to give Spyro some attention.. lol
on a side note... ixr: I love your location... lol ![]()

Re: So if we are getting a new Spyro game this year (2010)...
haha dont turn around
yeah they do need to bring back some old characters such as flame and ember perhaps or one from the year of the dragon. And some new ones. Not much new ones though just 2 to 4 would probably be good excluding the main bad guy and such.

Elora?
Yeah, I love her.
(Not in a fangirl way!) I just think that she's awesome because she called Spyro a dork. It was made clear that she was going to be a love interest for Spyro, but stupid VU game along and kicked her out. -_-'

What about other characters from the original? Such as Agent 9, Ember, Flame, Sgt James Byrd?

They may add one of them in the next game, who knows. They have added Hunter back on Dawn Of the Dragon.
I hope we get another Spyro game after we went threw a Spyro-less 2009. ![]()

But then not releasing it this year gives them more time to develop it and such.

Re: So if we are getting a new Spyro game this year (2010)...
I could see Elora, Bianca and Zoe coming back...simply because fauns are the spirits of the woods, Bianca as a sorceress and Zoe is a magical fairy, not because they're all female. XD
I just hope that, if they do add more characters from the old series, they don't ruin them as Spyro, Sparx and Hunter have been.

Re: So if we are getting a new Spyro game this year (2010)...
Yeah..The old Spyro's were good. It's like changing something where you got used to and loved so much. Though I think this twist in the 'feeling' of the Spyro game were somewhat nice actually..I mean, Spyro as we knew with his games, cute, funny and colourful changed so much in the TLSO series.
It began to be epic, dark and serious.. It was a real other feeling than we had with the older games, which started already in ANB. Well not so much already in ANB, but still.. It was a lot different. And when TEN got released I was like "Oookay, where did Spyro go with all the 'happiness' and stuff?"
