There's still a chance...

There's still a chance that Spyro will go back to its old platforming roots. I know many people are adamant that The Legend of Spyro is the future now and that's that, but The Legend of Spyro is finished...and even though they said they've only just 'scratched the surface' with The Legend of Spyro, it's been about 1 and a half years since Dawn of the Dragon came out and we haven't heard a peep.

But look at Sega. Sonic's been going downhill recently and what do they do? They go and work on Project Needlemouse, which is supposed to be an old-school style Sonic game.

It could always happen to Spyro. D:

Re: There's still a chance...

Perfect. I must say that tLoS attracted less spyro-players but more newbs. This keeps it a bit in balance, but Originals were much, VERY much better. I think if they make a good spyro, like YotD, RR or S1, more people will buy it, making more profit. So either Blizzard has to copy insomniac OR they have to give Spyro's rights back to his rightfull owner, which is insomniac.

Re: There's still a chance...

I remember I read a long while back that the legend of spyro is basically to start anew. introducing chacters and such. meaning that any following game is going to start off from where they left off in the legend. the new games will surely be epic with blizzard on spyro's side. yeah yeah, you all want old spyro back but I doubt blizzard will do that. spyro was pretty much for little kids in a sence. now, im not saying the new games arn't but if you compare the old with the new you know that the new spyro games have a bit of a darker side to it.

gnasty gnorc vs. malefor.

obviously gnasty gnorc is a more kiddy-like villan. goofy, not very bright and also he is hardly a threat. malefor on the other hand is much more serious. Red was a more serious boss too but still dosen't compare to malefor. at least in my opinion.

but yeah, I doubt they will go back to the old games... because really think about it. they already started everything over. if they remake the old games it will confuse the new current players and fans of the game.

its not like remaking a final fantasy game where all the games have different stories anyway

Re: There's still a chance...

Although that would be a good idea how would they make the story?
A new one? After DotD? But if they do that'd be awsome.

Re: There's still a chance...

I dunno, they could always connect Original Spyro and TLoS by starting a game that ends after Year of the Dragon. The Nanny could be telling the baby dragons Spyro rescued about 'The Legend of Spyro' story and saying that 'the purple dragon who rescued you was named after him'.

And then the story follows.

Re: There's still a chance...

so it would be like TloS happened after the year of the dragon and the nanny's telling the little dragons, and then the story starts?

Same here. I rented it on PS2, and bought it on my DS for the road. It could've been done a little better. They kinda got lazy or just don't know crap about how to make a DS game.

It's also known as a reboot series

Well, yeah and no. ^^' the Legend of Spyro was - like the title says - a legend. And, like King Arthur, the Nanny is telling all the little dragons Spyro rescued about it.

Maybe they should remake Enter the Dragonfly first, just to be on the same side. A lot of people would like to see the original trilogy remade, but what's the point in them dishing out time and money to let us play a game in better graphics? Enter the Dragonfly was a rather unfinished game, in my opinion, so maybe they could 'finish' it was all the things posted - monsoons, tornadoes, etc.

Re: There's still a chance...

Insomniac gave Spyro away I think...who knows if they would even buy it back? And maybe Activision is waiting until the movie comes out and gets more people interested. Scarlet's theory sounds logical enough smile but I still think the Legend trilogy was meant to have nothing to do with the originals.

I'm going to e-mail Insomniac about the issue. You bet I'm going to tell you all what they say.

Re: There's still a chance...

Companies don't just give a series away, they sell it. Insomniac sold the spyro series.

*facepalm* My bad, I shouldve reworded it.

Insomniac has been e-mailed. Can't wait for the reply.

Re: There's still a chance...

It wouldn't happen... rather we want it to or not at this point seams irrelevent... A spyro platform game would have too high of expectations from the classics.

Even more than what they all ready do.

Re: There's still a chance...

@ Conrys:

That may be true, however, IMO, seeing them making the attempt is more rewarding to me then making  Spyro a mindless beat'em up.

As for what Scarlett said, yeah, remaking or finishing ETD, would be a wise choice from either Blizzard, Activision, or Insomniac.
