New Final Fantasy
I just saw a commercial for ANOTHER final fantasy game. How many is that now, like, 17? Most people would stop making games after the 17th one. And, none of them are connected story wise. I haven't played many of em, and I've never finished one. So here's my question: are they really nothing alike in story?

Re: New Final Fantasy
We're only coming up to the thirteenth, and the fourteenth should be out sometime in 2010. Of course, that's not counting the occasional follow-ups, like FF X-2 or Dirge of Cerberus. All of the different Final Fantasys are different, if followed by a different Roman numeral. Final Fantasy X has nothing to do with Final Fantasy IX. I think there might be an exception in FF XI and the upcoming FF XIV, but that's only from what I've guessed.

Thirteen is coming around 2010, same with fourteen, and I don't really care because FF is dead. They've killed it too much

This man here speaks the truth. I've played 7 and 12 and both were borefests. All Asian companies have no innovation for new characte. few examples: Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Sonic, Cloud etc
Expect the Asian game markets start to drop off because they can't think of any other characters to make.
I mean c'mon that new super mario bros Wii IS THE SAME GAME as Super Mario Bros. Same gameplay, same music, same characters only difference being you can do coop. Wow. That took a lot of thinking

Re: New Final Fantasy
I already made a thread about the new final Fantasys comeing out.... but ill list the names again:
Final Fantasy 13
Final Fantasy 13 Vurses
Final Fantasy 13 Agito
Final Fantasy 13 *forgot the name of this one but they did resever the name for it but no news on what its going to be about*
Final Fantasy 14
Im not sure im going to be able to tear my self away from Dragon age till i get a copy of any of those Final Fantasy games.... preferably 14. But still The fact that think most people dont like Final Fantasy is that how long it has ran,how many games it has, and its battle System/story type and play. Honestly they have been trying to change up battle systems like in 10. They added a turn base that you can see who goes next, then in 12 they completely changed it.
But as for the how many i can actually count more then 17, if they sell they aint gana stop. Besides to me Final Fantasy has amazing complex stories that i love to play over and over just to hear the story. FF7 being my favorite story so far.

Re: New Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy is an acquired taste, I'll give you that, and I won't grudge you that much for disliking it (though you dropped several respect points by going up against it). However, you are utterly wrong when you say final fantasy is dead. Final fantasy XII worked, because it added a few extra strategic points to the original battle system. For instance, running away became more risky, as your enemies can get a few potshots before you escape, positioning yourself to maximise healing potential and minimise enemy magic damage, and the licence board worked well, being more accessible than the sphere grid, and giving you some more freedom.
Final fantasy is nowhere near dead, and it's not lagging either, only growing more and more.
However, from what I've been hearing on my ears, FF XIII might be a real kick in the nuts. I've heard reports it's more movie than game, and it's extremely narrow. Hopefully the franchise will survive till it can be rescued by FF XIV.

Re: New Final Fantasy
I liked XII but for God's sake COME ON Square Enix! 14 games is TOO MUCH. Turn based combat is fine but I grow tired of waiting and praying that I don't die.

Re: New Final Fantasy
I just remembered, Fifa is now on it's sixteenth or so game. Do you whine about a game that merely lightly upgrades itself annualy? Nope. But a game that creates a brilliant new story, world, changes many of its gameplay staples periodically is too repetitive?
Would it make it better if Square Enix named its games differently? The games are not sequels, it's probably better to think of them as a sub-genre of their own.

The thing is I hate sports games so I couldn't give a hell about FIFA.
