Snow Days

I've just learned that all classes on my college campus have been canceled for today due to the 18 inches of snow that fell last night. I had a guest in my room past 2 in the morning playing Spyro 3 with me, and we were both dreading waking up for classes at 8, but now I get to go back to sleep. Then I get to spend the rest of the day frustrating myself with the Android emulator and my Java final project, yay! XD

Here's a pic (spoiler'd because I can't be bothered to resize it):

So, when's the last time you've had a snow day? What did you do with your day off?

Re: Snow Days

Oh man, that looks amazing. You are really lucky to have snow where you're from. I've seen snow only once in my long 16years, but probably because it never drops below 30degrees celcius down here. I gotta say, I'm rather jealous of your snow day. And you got a day off! That's like the whole package. We don't get to get off school when it hits 45degrees and the power cuts out. We just sit there and sweat half our body weight away.

First impressions aren't my strong point, nor are second or third. It takes a while, but people start to like me, eventually.

Re: Snow Days

Oh, wow. I wish it would snow here in Texas. It got down to ~20 F three
days ago, but there was no precipitation. Just cold.

Sometime, though, I would like to visit Colorado for a week or two.

Re: Snow Days

Lucky... In February this year the UK got A LOT of snow, but where I'm from on the North-east coast, there was barely any, it did snow but it didn't settle for more than a few hours and only just enough to cover the ground.
This winter however temperatures haven't yet dipped below 10C (50 F), which is the average here in winter and it is always either raining or there are low grey clouds days after day... Its silly, its only gone below freezing for one night, and that was at the beginning of November!  mad

Re: Snow Days

Last year all of Washington was pretty snowed out, and it was around christmastime, so everyone was snowed in and it was bad for all the last minute shoppers; it was weeks before the garbage people were able to show up anywhere, too, so everyone's garbage all over the city and people's houses kept piling up.

Re: Snow Days

Hmph. Long live our rainy wet country. But snow? Never. And that's the problem and the reason to stay: I love snow and I love bad weather, even when it is annoying like hell. I don't like heat. You were just... a so incredibly lucky b@stard! big_smile

Last time we had a bit of snow over here was in... what, 25th of December 2 years ago. At least it was a white christmas! *Shakes snow ball*

Re: Snow Days

I live in Washington pretty much right on a mountain too. we tend to get a fair amount of snow and I love it. I wish I had snow right now though. the most it does in washington is rain. but it hasn't even done that in awhile. still hoping for snow though <3

That's pretty cold, but it could be worse...

Here's my forecast: http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/caab0103

Saturday looks absolutely terrible. -27C (-16.6F) as a high and -32C (-25.6) as a low.

Good thing I just usually stay home studying for finals...

Re: Snow Days

Trust me, when snow is falling and it has done so all day yet you know that it is too warm for it to settle its nothing to be jealous of. Slush is a pain as well and it's all we seem to be getting (at least in my area) in England these past few years.
The last time I remember it REALLY snowing was... Seven years ago? I was in Year 7, the first year of secondary school and I would have been about 11 years old. That's how long its been since we've had any decent snow on the Yorkshire Coast... Even London got more snow than us earlier this year and I live in an isolated town surrounded by dales and moors, I mean come on!  mad

Re: Snow Days

Yesterday, on the news, it was reported that my city had the second coldest temperatures in the world that day. -46C

Only to be topped by some place in Siberia, where it was -48C. I guess that places like Antarctica wouldn't apply now because it's "summer" down there.

Re: Snow Days

It will snow soon where I live, I don't got to school so it doesn't matter.
