A Dark Age Dawns... (Please read warning in 1st post)

Ulkna sat in his throne and sighed. ((Although he's quadruple, he can sit in the throne upright.)) Images of the human girl flowed through his mind. Her eyes wide, staring, bloodshot, fearful... Her strangely strong grip. Her persistent nature. Her terrified howls. It was almost as if she was haunting him...

He shook his head abruptly, trying to block out her screams. He looked at the door he had come from. Looks like the human's not joining after all. He thought, Ah well, he was too confident. He'd just annoy me.

Oh, bugger. Link thought. She really needs much rest. Better bring her to the human then. After Link silently carried and pulled the Dragon [[he is a strong Dragon himself]] to the house, he covered the Dragon's belly with some hay, to keep her warm. "Well, seeya guys. Hope we'll meet soon..." he whispered. Then he took off and flew away. As so many times, without a purpose, without a goal. Just waiting in the skies 'till someone needed his help for something. He was alone, and he liked it. Still, he wanted to meet someone to form a team with.

[[I'll meet Aurgal and Slinx here, if you guys agree.]]
He flew high and fast, and saw two Dragons fighting fiercely. Why could they be fighting? That one doesn't look like that master from the tower...

In the middle of the battle, Link landed, spreaded his half-dark half-light wings widely and summonning his Light sword and his Dark sword. "Why are you guys fighting?!" he shouted as he prepared to block attacks. "Fighting doesn't solve anything. At least tell me what's going on before killing each other."

"That's a stupid reason." Link said. "Why would you fight an annoying guy instead of just flying away or driving him away? Fighting for things like that solves nothing. How many times do have I already said that to other Dragons... And look what's left of most of them: Nothing. Nothing but death. Your time will come soon, yes, your time."

Link didn't move and didn't get out of the Dragon's sight. He expected attacks like always. Would he win? Would the other Dragon win? Would no one win? Who knows...

"Then leave... NOW!" Link said sharply. "I'll keep this guy away from you, the only thing YOU have to do is go away and don't show yourselves ever again. Then you can be alone."

Hmpf. The only thing I hope now is that that Dragon doesn't want to join me... Ah, what am I thinking. I didn't even meet him.

Link looked quickly at Slinx. He seems pretty... well how can you say that... I think he doesn't want to hurt me... Let's give it a shot when they're gone.

"Better watch out next time. He could have killed you, you couldn't kill him." Link told Slinx as he walked towards a shady area, ready to go away again. Or is this Dragon usefull? If he replied, there may be a chance...

It came to Zeel's mind that he hadn't really been tracking his age. However, he could still remember how many years had passed.

"I have no idea..." said Zeel. "I wasn't really keeping track of my age." He thought for a minute. "I would say... about 20, give or take a year or two. What about you?"

The evening was drawing in, the already dark and dreary throne room was darker still. Ulkna yawned and was just about to go to his (damaged but still standing) tower when Idris appeared out of nowhere.

Ulkna sat down again and sighed. "Alright, what is it?"

The centaur was troubled, but tried not to show it. "Sire, the human girl. She is dead."

Ulkna just blinked and looked at him blankly. "And?"

"J-Just thought you'd like to know Sire." Idris said, bowing. "Blood loss by the looks of her cell. A terrible mess. Shock too probably..."

"Do I look like I care?" Ulkna said impatiently. "Look, just get rid of the body and get the cell cleaned."

"Yes, of course Your Majesty." Idris trotted away to the dungeons.

Ulkna spread his wings and flew outside, smashing the glass, which once again repaired itself. He took a sharp turn to the damaged tower. He tutted. Terrible mess. That was foolish of me. Why didn't I just tear his head off? Oh well, at least he's dead.

Ulkna landed on the balcony and entered the chamber. He flopped down on the large cushion and sighed. The girl got what she deserved! He tried to tell himself. But Ulkna felt a very strange feeling. One he had never felt before.

...Was it guilt?

Colum blinked, remembering that he was still rather young. It was a troubling thought, one the pushed out of him mind by talling the inquisitive dragon before him, "I'm young enough to adapt, but too old to claim innocense..."

"haven't even hit 30 and I already feel so old. I go to sleep and wonder if I'll wake up...," he thought sighing, regretting that he had missed out of so much wile he was growing up so quickly, "oh well, someone had to end up livving this way, just ended up being me..."

Looking back at the black dragon, he asked a question that he had been building to, "Have you ever taken another creature's life?", questioned Colum, in a voice that was ment to be nonchelont.

This made Zeel think... What if I needed to kill a non-animal? How would that work out for me? Would I hesitate?

Almost before Zeel was finished speaking, Colum reacted. Pulling a dagger from the inside of his cloak, the boy stabbed it into the wooden handle of the hammer Zeel was useing to temper the ore. Ah the boy had planned, the blade had landed between two of Zeels claws.

"And let's say you had to kill something that could speak. Something that you could see it's soul when you looked in it's eyes." Colum was chanting in a harsh undertone to the dragon. He wheeled aboutm useing the dragons exustion to his advantage to avoid a counter attack. Pulling a knife from his cloak, COlum spun about till he was behind the dragon and pressed the flat of the blade agaisnt Zeels's neck, wispering in his ear, "And let's say the creature was going to slay you. Let's sat it would not stop attacking you untill either it died, or you died. And Wile we're at it, let's say that there is no excaping this creature, let's say that it would hunt you down and take your life unless you took it's first.",continued Colum adding pressure to the blade, causing it to dig into the dragons soft flesh, "Would you be able to kill this creature, if it be man, dragon, faun, whatever that case may, be. Could you look it in the eyes and end it's life?"

The theif dropped the dagger to the floor with a clatter and lept over the dragon, using Zee'ls wings as a launching pad. Landing gracelessly (and nearly impaling himself upon the spik of the anvil he had been sitting on), the boy turned and told the dragon in the same harsh voice, "If you'r still willing to come with me, have those two blades shaprened by the time I return," he then paused for a moment, and added, in his normal, calm, and as warm as it colud be for Colum, voice ,"please." then he flitted out of the shop, hoping the guards would'nt be chaceing him for making a scean.

Colum managed to climb back up the tower much faster then the downward trip, assuming that the loss of two items made that big of a diffrence. After once quick glance about the tower, Colum cursed profusely att not finding Ulkna. Hoping to see the dragon by looking out the tower, he sauntered over to the balchony and scanned the dragon infested town, but to no avail.

Zeel was just a bit shaken by what had just happened. If i had to kill someone that was going to kill me... he thought, and I had no choice, I would probably do it. No matter what inhibitions I may have against killing, the urge to protect myself would still be very strong. But how would I know if I had a choice or not? He then started wondering something else...

Can I trust this guy not to stab me in the back? It was a troubling thought, but one that had to be brought up nonetheless. He didn't seem to have any inhibitions about stabbing me just now, just to make a point. What would happen if something more serious came up? Would I be able to count on him not to just sacrifice me?

While wondering about this, he decided to get working on the blades. He picked one up and started using the whetting stone within reach of him.

If it comes to that, he thought to himself, then I won't let him. But what if it were for the greater good? What is the greater good, anyways? Ah... I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

As Ulkna rested his head, in the corner of his one eye he saw someone - a human - wandering around the balcony outside. As he shot up and prepared to decapitate the intruder, he recognised him.

"Well, well. Hello again. Changed your mind?"

(Crap, I thought he went out on a grassy hillside for some reason... oh well, just make it that much easyer)

Colum felt the back of his neck go numb, (he also would have felt the hairs rise, but he was far too numb) he slowly turned to look at the area where the voice had spawned from. Standing on his hind legs, Ulkna towered over the human boy, casting a black shadow on him, causeing a chill to sweep over Colum.

"I have, no, I mean I haven't, I mean I never changed my mind, I mean...", stammered Colum, taking halve a step backwards, trying to make distance between he and those oversizes razors the dragon had for claws. His head was nnumbing, causing Colum to feel slow and stupid. Trying to shake both stupidity and fear in one fell move, Colum rattled his head.
"I would love to be trained by you, but first I would like to ask you some questions... if you wouldn't mind?" asked Colum, not looking at the dragon, instead examinging the patterns on the tile floors.

(OOC I thought it would be a bit more impressive to see a dark dragon standing 12ft tall then maybe 8 ft. Ill refrain from making him stand in future)

Colum made a sound like he was swollowing a mouthful of jagged gravle and rusty nails, "My name is Colum," he began, givving a small, curt bow, "but some people call me Falyindin...", his voice trailed off, he had a feeling that the brooding draogn diddn't give a danm about his life story.

Licking his very dry lips Colum mustered the bravery to ask a question, "How much do dragon slaves go for?" choked out Colum, trying to remain calm.
