Spyro Chronicles: Prophecy of Peril (rated 13+)
Hi everyone. My request finally was accepted. Now I can share my fanfic with you! ![]()
OK, I've been thinking about this for a long time, but have only just started to write it. It's based around the theme of the LOS trilogy, i.e. a serious, darker plot. However, as the story progresses, you may see that I have tried to give it the charm and humour that the original trilogy had, so everyone's pleased, me included.
Anyway, here is chapter 1. I've worked hard on it and edited it many times, but I think it's good enough to share. But I'm sure that there is room for improvement.
Enjoy!
This chapter is rated T (13+) due to some images that may disturb more sensitive people. Read carefully.

CHAPTER ONE:
THE BLACK BEAST
The night was calm and silent, only the silver beam from the full moon could be seen. Only the howling of the night wolf could be heard. The natural beauty that was the Dragon Realms was as far as the eye could see in the daylight. But that night there was an outlandish atmosphere never felt before. There was the sense of desperation and fear, so strong that the wolves cowered and were hushed.
Suddenly, a rush. A gust of wind and a distressed cry for help. A dragon, female, dark blue scales and clutching a round, dark object to her green breast, beat her wings frantically, desperate to escape from the shadow that was chasing her. She would not give in. Never. This was her child, and she would protect it with her life.
A male dragon, barely visible in the gloomy night, strained with all his might to catch up to his target. His jet black scales camouflaged him perfectly - he was built for the darkness. I will get that child, he thought, even if I am forced to kill. Then so be it.
A blast of air followed him and his speed increased. Even through his one emerald eye, he did not lose sight of the younger dragoness he was pursuing. With red skin on his wings, underbelly and chest, strikingly similar to blood, with curved, ivory horns that made him look bigger than he already was and one dead and colourless eye with a huge, red scar across it, he was a horrifying creature.
His snout was about two inches away from the dragoness’ tail, who realised, and doubled her speed. Frustrated, the black dragon slowed and summoned all his strength. Between his front paws a green ball of light appeared, cackling with power. Yelling out aggressively, he hurled it at the dragoness. At that exact moment, she beat her wings downwards and shot upwards, narrowly missing the blast.
Howling with rage, the black dragon followed her. He roared savagely and lunged at his target. The dragoness yelped out as she was tackled, and quickly righted herself and tried to escape again. But the Black Beast appeared at an unnatural speed in front of her. Glaring and grinning with satisfaction, he realised she was trapped. There was nowhere to go.
He held out his paw to her and smiled. “Trust me Noyana, it is in good hands. Just give it to me now.”
Noyana stared him straight in his eye and clutched the egg tightly to her. She wanted to dart away from him, but fear and common sense kept her glued to the spot.
Clouds whirled around the floating dragons and the air was moist and chilly. The dragon grew impatient. “Just give it to me and I promise I will let you go.” He said as calmly as he could, shivering.
Noyana looked at the grey egg she was holding. Tears appeared in her eyes “What do you want with it? Why is it so important to you?” She asked, quivering.
The black dragon said, “I cannot tell you, but all will become clear soon if you let me have it.” He reached out with his paw at the egg, but Noyana backed away. “I promise,” The dragon said gently, “I will never harm the hatchling.”
He held out his paw again and watched her as she hugged the egg to her snout. “Very well.” She said, “But keep your promise.”
“Forever.” The dragon said, trying to hide a smirk.
Noyana held out the egg to him and he reached out to take it. Suddenly a blast of icy air shook him. He yelled out as his limbs became stiff and hardened. He saw that he was surrounded by crystal ice. He could not move a single muscle and his limbs stung because of the cold. Through the blue glass he saw Noyana flee, and he began to fall. The cold was too much. He reached out for all his dark powers within and the whole icy chamber shattered and he quickly recovered from the cold.
He screamed with fury and darted after the dragoness. How dare she trick me! And freeze me! That traitor will pay! He thought, combining his powers with the wind and his strength and shooting forward.
Noyana fled desperately and cried out with horror as the Black Beast drew closer to her.
“I...NEED...THAT...HATCHLING!” He screamed breathlessly and hurled an energy ball at Noyana. She narrowly dodged it and ascended again.
Once above the clouds, there was silence. Confused, the dragoness looked around in every direction. The moon was her only source of light and guidance. Slowly and cautiously, she glided forward.
Then, before she could even turn away, the Black Beast shot up through the blanket of clouds and tackled her. She screamed in pain and surprise as he grappled her and pushed her towards the ground. The two dragons wrestled, spinning towards the forest below.
Pain thumped though the dragon as Noyana frantically kicked at his belly and clawed at his shoulder with her free paw. He seized hold of the egg and pulled with all his might, however the weakened and exhausted dragoness kept her grip. She was not going to give up easily.
“GIVE IT TO ME NOW!” He bellowed.
“Never in a million years!” She shrieked back, kicking harder.
“Then you leave me no choice!” He let go of her and focused on her, holding out his paw. Noyana gasped as she was held in midair, unable to move. She yelped and squirmed and shrieked but the crackling green force field around her was to strong. The dragon opened his jaw and charged up a beam.
“NO! PLEASE! Have mercy!” Noyana begged, realising what was happening.
His eye now glowing brightly, he released the beam. It shot towards the helpless dragoness and travelled straight through her. A piercing, blood-churning scream of pure agony echoed through the night. Birds awoken from their sleep scattered and the wolves howled once again.
A massive explosion ripped straight through Noyana and her screaming stopped. Trees leaned to their sides from the force, as if bowing to the reckless demonstration of authority. Her eyes wide open as if in shock, she span downwards. The Black Beast saw the egg fall with its mother. He shot towards it and caught it. Luckily, it was unscathed.
Relief flowed through him as he cradled the egg to him. The sound of braking tree branches and a loud thud reached him. He slowly descended and glared at Noyana, who lay motionless in the forest below, her body covered in burns.
The dragon’s hard stare softened as he watched the dead dragoness as if she was asleep. Her beauty suddenly overwhelmed him and a strange feeling he had never felt before was beginning to bother him. His cold heart felt pity for the fallen female.
He watched her for some time and sighed. He pulled himself away from her and began to ascend. Gliding on the gentle midnight breeze, he focused on a tall stone building in the distance.
Those fools had better be prepared. He thought. This mission is not over yet.
His shoulder bleeding and stomach hurting, he left as a soft whisper came from his lips.
“Forgive me, my love.”

Well how was it? As I said, it's not perfect, but I think it's pretty good. Sorry it's long. Chapter 2 may take quite a while to come, since I don't have as much free time now, what with college work and all that... But I'll post it as soon as it's done and I'm happy with it.
But PLEASE leave a comment and tell me what you think. If you must be critical, say it in a nice way. Hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading. ![]()

Harsh, blunt, and even evil on many occasions. What's not to like about me?

"Ima firin ma omnious lazor!!!1"
Not that clichéd as of yet. I just wish for a less obvious bad guy. You keep it going and I'll make a proper review after the tenth installment or so.
It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living.

OK then, thanks Ace. But as I said, chapter 2 may take quite a while to come. But keep the comments coming, I really need them.
*EDIT* Hopefully, Chapter 2 won't be too long. I'll post it as soon as it's ready. ![]()
