Hard to say, but a dragon would probably win, cuz they can breathe fire, but griffins are fast

Yeah I agree with Apoc. Dragons would probably have more of an advantage because of their fire. But they can both fly so none of them would penalised for that. And Griffins have sharp talons and are quick.

But overall dragons would probably win, but it'd be a tough fight.

I think that's no competition. A dragon would easily win because they have fire on their side. Griffins last time i checked can't breathe fire.

If you've ever seen Dragonheart, some dragons do have a bladed tail.

this battle has taken place in a legend iv red the gryphon won because the dragon was to greedy and drowned trying to save a enormis chunk of gold...how ever dragons are supposed to hord things im prity sure one would kill its over 1 piece of gold...the gryphon would lose the fight on land and in air due to power and [if you saw dragon hart and dragon heart a new begining{don't see a new begining if you haven't trust me you will be happy with out it}you would learn some dragons can in fact use 2 breathes ice and fire ^^]

Yea A dragon would own a griffen. In Guild Wars Griffens are given some good smiteing magic, but they cant heal them selves makeing that their disadvantage.

Sure, dragons have fire breathing abilities, but what if they couldn't use it at the most crucial of times? That would be their downfall.

To me, I think a griffin could would win in aerial melee combat. It has claws and what not to use as weapons.

I worry how you people can consider who would win in a fight between two fictional creatures, and assume features for both of them. Since dragons are less possible, I'd go for griffins. You know, they might actually fly.

I also believe that they might be equally matched, even though a dragon has fire and a spiked tail, a griffin has more speed and can easily outrun a dragon. So honestly, my money is on neither.
