Re: Spyro WOW Version *free to play*
In response to why some people hate it:
In a nutshell: linear, repetitive, cliche. It's not that hard to understand. Some people just have different video game preferences than others.
I'd go on about it more but seeing as it's a bit off-topic, I'll leave you two to your debate. ![]()

Re: Spyro WOW Version *free to play*
A Spyro MMO? I've thought of that, and there are a couple of major problems whoever owns Spyro this week would have to overcome, (assuming this MMO is based on the LOS series):
1. Spyro has nowhere near the fanbase required to launch a good MMO, they'd have to attack the general idea of dragons. And then we'd get every whiny pre-teen who wishes dragons were real. Which, no matter what anyone says, is a bad thing.
2. Player's avatars would be a real problem, becaus they're ALL going to name themselves Spyro or Cynder. Or Spyrox and Cynders. Or Dark_Spyro and Cynder_rules10332. You'd call out "Hey Cynder" and get twenty responses.
3. Another problem with character avatars is who do we allow them to be? Do we force them to be one of the four basic dragons? Or do we allow them to be purple if they choose? I can imagine a serious problem with that; "You are one of the legendary purple dragons who appear once every ten generations!" "That's great, let's go train and- Hold on, THERE'S ANOTHER FIFTY PURPLES IN THIS ROOM ALONE!"
4. There'll be a limit to what dragons can do, on the basis of their complete lack of opposable thumbs. Want to make your own armour? Sorry, you can't hold a hammer properly! Want to pick some poisinous herbs? Well, you can pick them with your teeth! Oh dear, don't worry, the agony will only last for half an hour!
5. If you allow people to meet Spyro or Cynder in-game, there will be constant shouts of "Cynder is ma B****!" Or "I'm having Spyro's babies!". It'll be almost as bad as a twilight MMO in that respect.
6. Spammers. "YOu guys Liek SPYRO? He's so gay/retarded/stupid."
If you can come up with solutions to, mmmm, four of these, I reckon you might be able to do it.
I found some solutions to those problems.
1) Spyro has a larger fanbase than you think, some 10 000 fans give or take is more than enough to keep a good MMO running, 5000 minimum would keep it going for awhile. As for the other thing, well there's not much you can do about that, if they start causing trouble then take action, if not, leave them.
2) Admin's approval, the admin has to see the names in different accounts, if there is somebody with Spyro/Cynder/Sparx etc he can change them, besides staff has first dibs on name so they can name themselves Spyro/Cynder/Sparx etc. The name filters will take care of the rest.
3) Don't give them the ability to make their character purple, simple.
4) That's a good point, then again, how did they pick up gems in Spyro? When in doubt just use magic, it works at the best of times.
5) Constant moderation, besides if they said that to a staff member they would get punished.
6) No mercy for the spammers. In my site if there is a spammer who spams outside the spam board, I immediately delete their account. Me as the system admin and you won't have much problem with spammers.
There's a problem that you left out Aceedwin.
7) Who's gonna design, program and release this game? Even though it could and I repeat "could" do well as an indie game I doubt that it would be taken seriously. Well Spyro may have a fairly large fanbase I don't think you'll be able to get all of them to play it, so those solutions become obsolete.
But then again it wouldn't hurt to try, like I said, nothing ventured nothing gained. It sounds like a good idea but you'll need a large enough team to make it a reality.

Re: Spyro WOW Version *free to play*
1) It's enough to keep it living, but not to be very good, really. There'd be nowhere near enough clans, economic activity, people to quest with, etc. etc. Not having enough people paying for it would slow it down, development-wise, and if it slows, people leave. It's a vicious cycle.
2) That's a good one, it'll remove the fanboys and fangirls. But even fansters pay. But I'll accept it.
3) Da duna daaa! Half your fanbase gone. Simple as.
4) Sparx went and got them when the games made sense. And just saying a wizard did it is so boring and shallow, and it makes the game so much less interesting.
5) I really think the mods would have better things to do than wipe out scathes of fansters. And anyway, I think the characters should all be NPCs, so that they're always present and ready to participate in the story.
6) Fine. But have you ever been on WoW in a city. Every five minutes some idiot comes on to let you know a great way to earn cash real fast. All you need to do is enter your password on this website, etc. etc. And the Trolls are more cunning than you think, i.e. make a free account (if possible) and allow it to be banned for the sake of ten minutes of trolling.

Re: Spyro WOW Version *free to play*
The semi solution to the name thing is. If u play that Wow spyro & play it 4 the PS3 or Xbox then your name on your account when u play your other games would be your online name simple.

Re: Spyro WOW Version *free to play*
The real fansters might just change thier account name. But it might take out the people who aren't that interested in being "Spyroxi" Of course, that is the only one we've resolved.

1) That's true, like I said in problem number 7, I seriously doubt that it can pull off and be successful.
2) That's the only one that will probably work
3) That's the only problem
4) Anthropomorphic dragons...............Won't work
5) Oh yeah, I forgot about that one
6) Bugger, I've just killed the population. Bah sod.
7) Filed under: Won't work
8) Also, advertising is another problem, I don't think you'll be able to advertise it enough in order make it popular. Or you can just sell it to Aeria games they have some cool MMO's(apparently), I've only heard of one, Shaiya, unfortunately it is MASSIVE.
9) I'll much rather stick to Warcraft, it's a cooler series.
What I wanna do, when I get the programming skills, I'll make a few Spyro fan games(much like some of the people here), I'll even do another reboot series but BEFORE I do them I'll ask each and every one of you, what you want to see in a Spyro reboot series.

Thank you for proving what I was trying to say in the first place before the entire DotD discussion. Every MMO is trying to be WoW.

Re: Spyro WOW Version *free to play*
I like the undead when I used to play Warcraft 3. Although if Blizzard have the rights and they try to make a MMO out of it, I think it might do well, but I don't think they'll make an MMO, they'll probably make something like Diablo 2, you know, awesome gameplay, storyline and just is made of win. I love Diablo 2.
But back on topic:
A Spyro MMO won't work, sorry.

Re: Spyro WOW Version *free to play*
I played a gnome warlock for the month I played. They're actually pretty good. Gnome rouges though...
But yeah, Spyro MMO wouldn't work. I think the next Spyro should be less linear than the LOS, a bit of a sandbox game.

Re: Spyro WOW Version *free to play*
If Sierra had actually put effort into LoS, I believe it could've been quite good. But if Blizzard made a new Spyro game it would probably be similar to Diablo.

Re: Spyro WOW Version *free to play*
It would be in the Spyro universe. That's like saying, what's so lord of the rings about the lord of the rings MMORPG, just because you can't play as Gandalf.

Re: Spyro WOW Version *free to play*
What difference does that make? Besides, it could be argued that it's all about Frodo, or Aragorn, or Gandalf.
I mean, do you think ever person in LOTRMMORPG has the Ring? You don't need to be Spyro for it to be Spyro, you just need it to be i the same universe, preferably with a few NPCs corresponding to some original characters.

She goes through so many changes and it almost seems like she has a split personality. I can understand why you hate her. ANB she was an evil little ***ch, TEN she was emo, DOTD she was an emotionless wreck. I still like her cuz when I get the programming skills I can change her, again, but for the better.

From AnB and TeN it wan't very..notisable. you exspected her to act like that but in DOTD why did she act like a brat? I think EL wanted us to "relate" to her more but..they just ruind a perfectly good charictor.

If you can come up with solutions to, mmmm, four of these, I reckon you might be able to do it.
1: Sometimes smaller memberbases are good. Less spammers/scammers/idiots.
2: Use a filter that doesnt allow names with Spyro or Cynder in them.
3: Make it so only mods/admins can be purple. Or only one in every 1000 or so sign ups can make a purple...but then there'd be people trying to steal those lucky members accounts. Mods/admins only it is.
4: Other species from LoS (cheetahs, moles) seem to have opposable thumbs. They can make the armor. Or don't have armor at all.
5: Don't include Spyro and Cynder as NPCs.
6: That's their opinion, and it's fine that they think that way. There's going to be spammers in every MMO, they can be dealt with the same way all MMOs do.
